  1. 1. If Dragon Age 3 gives you the option, which side in the Mage-Templar War would you choose?

    • Mages
      2
    • Templars
      1
    • I choose neither and/or prefer compromise between both.

Okay, if the next Dragon Age game will presumably involve allowing you to take part in the Templar-Mage war, would you pick a side? if so, which?

Me personally, I'd want to side with the Mages.

That might be me speaking as someone who's played through Dragon Age Origins, Awakening, and Dragon Age 2, as a Mage through and through, but I remain fairly convinced that Mages are the victims more-so than the cause of this conflict.

Most of the Templars (especially in Dragon Age 2) talk about Mages like they're criminals or monsters even when they know they're dealing with Mages that have obviously have done nothing wrong, and some of the rules they place and enforce on Mage don't even make sense, like forbidding any contact with family members? why is that even here? how is something as trivial as sending letters to parents gonna cause demonic possession?

which brings up the reasons the Templars even police Mages in the first place.

First off: Demon possession, sure it's smart to prepare if any Mages decides delibrately consort with them is a smart idea, but that should be enough. But why act like Mages could be possessed at any time even when you're in the same room as them? If those Templars have been watching Mages for so long, you'd think they'd be able to tell when they're possessed when they start trying to kill people, why can't that be enough? explain that, Templars!

second of all, blood magic, speaking as a mage who went with the Blood Mage specialization, I find the whole thing about Blood Magic being evil rather laughable. First off, doesn't the creation of Phylacteries involve blood magic? isn't that being a little hypocritical? Also, the Grey Wardens have used blood magic as part of the Joining process, so it's blood magic that, in retrospect, saved the people of Thedas from the Blights. So what evil that involves Blood Magic is solely caused by mages that choose to use it for evil, nothing more.

But enough about my opinions on the Templar-mage conflict, what are yours?

Why don't we ever see humans in Equestria?

they're hiding, the ponies stole all their clothes.

well i too have played all three as a mage (hoofbump) so i can understand were your coming from BUT i have to disagree with you. as it said in the game a mage is susceptible to possession at all times because of the strong connection they have to the fade. the one thing that make me even more against mages is in dragon age 2 it showed me that if you push a mage into the corner he will do anything to get out. even destroying themselves. plus the face that a lot of mages start to think they are better then everyone else.

now that i said why i can fully side with the mages its time for the Templars. to me they are mostly brainwashed suites of steal.

at a young age they are taken trained and taught to fight hate and fear mages. then after all the hate and fear beome a part of who they are they are aloud to become a full fledged templar. then to top it off when they do take the oath they are immediately addicted  to lyrium so that even if they wanted to they cant disobey the order.

this is the thing that makes me fear dragon age 3. i dont think they can make both sides equally good and evil. what i want to hapen is that there is a school that teaches mages powerful magic but in that school there are a lot of templars but it is free to train in magic out of that school and to keep the peace outside of the school there is a templar fort in each town kinda like a police force. if a mage starts abusing his power that is when the templars step in other then that they are just a force for good in the town... and no lyrium addiction they need to be able to leave or say no if they want to

btw on this of coarse the player wouldn't be affected by blood magic and it says that it is a very addictive magic. also phylacteries isnt blood magic its a tracing magic they could probably use skin hair or urine but blood is the best tacker. dont forget that the grey wardens joining is yes blood magic and that is way no one other then the wardens know what the joining is. so yes blood magic is evil in my eyes and that is why as a mage i choose to stay far way from it

I don't really like the circle of magi, but I like the templars much less. Probably partly because I hated Alistair so much for being a winy immature brat at the landsmeet. That, and the templars still use their own form of magic, so I think it's kind of hypocritical to police the mages like they do.
