visual art Non-Pony Character Feedback Needed

Hello everypony, I have been wanting to start a Tumblr ask blog for a while now and I finally got around to designing some characters.

 

 

 

I haven't completely nailed their backstory, I've just roughly plotted out events to explain why they have no parents, their source of income, etc. Their parents died in a car crash, my characters were too young to remember much of what happened at the time (they were in the car, this is how Pickles lost his arm). Their parents left them a lot of money behind and that's how they get by. They were brought up in boarding schools before leaving at 13 (I don't know how, need help with this). They live together without adults, they are capable of looking after themselves not badly. They are now studying at home mostly through the computer rather than staying in boarding school. If anyone has anything to contribute, it would be much appreciated! I don't particularly like their story, it's just been roughly done to explain how they got to where they are now. I'm quite happy with their physical appearance, but help on backstory, likes, personality, hobbies, etc would be awesome! Thank you~
