Earth Ponies Stand Alone

This may be a bit of a random thought but it's a random though I've had for a while. How would earth ponies fair if they were to make an independent nation where only earth ponies could be part of it. How would they compensate for the lack of magic and weather control that pegasi and unicorns are needed to do? It's just a simple question to ponder. I frankly think that without magic. Science would advance much faster allowing the earth ponies to replace their sister races with machinery.

Btw, this actually fits in with my headcanon. I believe that Earth Ponies are the most 'conventional' among the three races, relying mainly on machinery, due to greater emphasis that an EP government would place on research and development of technology.

This kinda leads to the question as to why the ponies need to control the weather and other forms of nature. It has been established that the weather works normally without the ponies aid. This was mentioned in the episode "Bridal Gossip" where the ponies mentioned some things that happen in the everfree forest without the ponies aid. Such as the clouds move on their own, the animals take care of themselves, etc.

In other words the weather and nature can take care of itself.

So why couldn't an earth ponie nation take care of itself without the others?

I mean the weather can move by itself, and appolusa (that how you spell it?) is mostly, if not all, an earth pony state (I saw no other Pegasus or unicorn besides the mane six). If they can do it, then why not a nation.

I hate to say this, but I think it means the writers do what they want and don't always have an organized plan. Certain things are story arc and other things are more fluid and nature/weather is one of them.

I don't believe there has to be a union. Whoever controls the food is most likely self-sufficient. the idea I've thought about is like how any RPG world would end up if magic were suddenly no longer available. they would adapt. Hearthwarming eve show's the Earth Ponies are the ones who supply food and crops while Pegasi and Unicorns claim to control what doesn't need controlling. In the end, sciences would take over any roles that were needed.

Well the thing is it seems that unicorns are more advances in sciences then Earth Ponies. Look at Twilights lab and the Flim Flam Brothers machine.  

 

Now I'm not saying Earth Ponies aren't smart, but I don't think they would take the rote of sciences and machines. They would most likely still rely on their strength and food growing to survive. I see them making an area in the Everfree Forest with it's odd weather to grow food. Yes it would be more dangers, but with their power I think then they could do it.

Without seeing it happen for ourselves, it is nearly impossible to determine what would and wouldn't occur. Sure, it's possible that the Earth Ponies would adapt to their lack of magic by making machinery, or they may adopt a more simplistic style of life. Though the possibilities are endless, considering that different cultures in human society have been so similar, and yet also so different based on climate, various cultural views, so on, and yet they are all still human.
