Princess Celestia the magical avatar

This is just some observations but it looks to me that Princess Celestia is an avatar. Not an avatar like the blue monkey people but from the last airbender.

Princess Celestia is the only pony to be able to wield all of the Elements of Harmony herself. There has been times where she used them with Luna but she is completely capable of using them herself. She is technically the master of all six elements.

Any thoughts about this?

The mind of the host will desperately try to create memories where none exist. Simple right?

Interesting I never thought of this.

Maybe celestia had other ponies who where her friends to help her with this, and they're just not mentioned.

Also I think Luna and celestia are told to have used the elements before just the two of them, which still means they had 6 elements uses by 2 ponies, or there where other element wielders.

Maybe the elements simply require certain peoples who share a bond with the elements and the ones using them together and it simply transformed their friendships into magic or whatever.

Bah that makes my head spin, still I think some form of friends must've been present with celestia seeing as the elements of harmony more or less seem to channel friendship into a form of magic. Her using them on her own breaks that concept really.

It's an interesting thing I've not put much thought into, but definately a bit unclear and mysterious.

One of my little pieces of headcanon is that she can only harness part of the Elements' power by herself, hence Nightmare Moon getting banished instead of redeemed (although this might just be because we have no idea how the Elements even work), but yeah, that is pretty incredible.

My head canon tells me that there was more bearers at one time but for whatever reasons those powers were granted to Celestial because much like Twilight she was the main focus and this wouldn't be about friendship if Celestial didn't have friends

That makes as little sense as possible. First of all, she didn't wield them alone, Luna was necessary too, and by the time the Mane six come along, the princesses can not wield the elements themselves anymore.

For Discord's banishment it was both Luna and Celestia, yes. Same for Sombra. But Celestia used them all, alone, herself, when sending NMM to the moon, presumably. That's what this is referring to.

We've seen the elements result in a number of different endings when used, but it always transforms things to an appropriate state in which harmony is restored.

  • King Sombra -who ponysonifies darkness- was turned to shadow and banished to the artic north.

  • Discord-who represents chaos and/or disharmony- is turned to stoned since he's such so screwed up mixed up that it couldn't send him anywhere else while still restoring harmony.

  • Nightmare Moon-who sought eternal night and also lost her inner light- was banished to the moon.

All in all, I'd say it effects vary on the target to bring about.....harmony.

As for Nightmare Moon being banished instead of restored.....I think I'll save my favorite theory on that for my fan-fic tongue.png

It's not really an issue if Celestia uses the elements on her own. You need to embrace each element to become an alicorn, so she was connected to them all anyway.

I personally think that their disconnection to the Elements is a more attributed to Celestia having to use them to banish her own sister.

Basically, misuse the Elements, go evil, or be forced to use them to do something displeasing to harmony, you aren't connected anymore.

I don't believe one can even use the elements without good intentions. When Twilight and most of the others first confront Discord, they couldn't channel the power since they lost touch with their inner light (their connection to the elements).

You're right. I just don't like the idea of two ponies being able to wield all six Elements. Faust doesn't even know which sister got which Elements, and to me, that somewhat cheapens the meaning if each one. Each pony got their respective element because they are the embodiment of what that element represents. The Elements are supposed to be more than a bunch of mcguffins, but just having them shared between two ponies is contradictory to that, hence my head canon that there were other element bearers who fell from grace.

This is one of the only bits of Faust's lore that I don't like.

I hadn't really considered other bearers of the elements until finding this thread. It definitely makes for a good head canon though. It'd spoil my story to say much, but I believe Luna and Celestia didn't have help wielding the elements. I lightly touched on why in an earlier post, but that's all I'm saying right now tongue.png

Equestria is a place where emotions come to life and directly influence the world. The Elements of Harmony represent this power that binds everypony together. Rather than locating the elements- save for a few episodes- the episodes impart a lesson in friendship (essentially the elements) that deepens our understanding of them. More of a theme than anything else.

In contrast, the Everfree Forest is an independent world (weather happens on it's own, animals take care of themselves ohmy.png ). It arguably parallels our own world which focuses more heavily on manipulation and knowledge rather than friendship and unity. Also reminds me of the Garden of Eden in Christian theology (only that the garden was ruined while the rest flourished; a much better outcome in my eyes happy.png ). Anyway.....it's fun to look at it from different angles. How a story is told is what's most important, so I always enjoy well told lore (even if it differs greatly from my own spin on it).

I think this mainly because she is the main princess, she didn't just control the elements but also the sun and the moon. Personally I think she is the most powerful of Alicorns! (Even though Luna is the pest :P)
