You make some very good points; the part I'm most worried about (besides the little bits of information they've already released thus far, which just keep getting more and more polarizing) is quite simply the little information we have about it as of yet.  I mean, we're just a little more than a month away from them releasing this thing in dozens of theaters nationwide for AT LEAST 1 day... and they haven't released even a minute long teaser trailer?  I'm sorry, but, the lack of advertising suggests to me that the folks at Hasbro are hoping that EG's attachment to the MLP name more than anything else will attract people to shelve out money for it, and don't have faith in the actual product itself!  The lack of information, the generic as heck plot premise (if you haven't seen it yet, here it is... and yeah, it's pretty bucking bad https://i.chzbgr.com/maxW500/7430675200/h000CB8BE/ ), the piss-poor anthro designs (those bucking ears, red lips, and twig arms... GAH, they're bucking creepy!!!  ); right now, this all has the makings of a cheap, rushed cash-cow on Hasbro's part.

 

My one hope is that, as purportedly stated a few months earlier, it's not canon, because if it's as bad as I think it's going to be, it'd be a real shame to make THAT canon with the rest of the series.  I can also take comfort in the fact that it's a movie and NOT a spinoff series as we thought it would be awhile ago.  But still, if it's bad (which I honestly think it will be), then I really do hope it tanks hard and teaches Hasbro a lesson about trying to push something out cheap and quick, relying on brand power alone and not actual quality.

But that doesn't exist, so we have to deal with slow information trickle.

 

We've gotten two completely contradictory sets of character designs. (The first were basically humans with the pony color schemes ported over, the second were basically the ponies re-done with human skeletons.) I have no idea what to make of this, except to say that "humans with pegasus wings".is an extremely silly idea, which makes me doubt that these characters are actually "humans" at all. Speaking of that...

 

The premise... remains a complete, baffling mystery, and only gets more so with time. The high school idea was met with derision, with good reason, but the new information might be even worse. So Twilight is essentially chasing a Macguffin, and the other Mane Six... aren't really the Mane Six at all. That RAISES more questions than it answers. Like, why would Twilight enroll in a high school if she was just chasing after a crown? How would she get into that school without committing multiple felonies? And if the other Mane Six aren't there with her, WHAT are they doing for all that time that Twilight is away?

 

I can't even find a confirmation of voice cast or a list of characters. With six weeks to go, that doesn't inspire confidence.

Gosh dang, gosh dang, gosh dang, every single bucking point I agree with!!!  I mean, it's not like this is even unprecedented; we've seen this a million times from Disney when they want to shelve something out with only a few months of production put into it!  I mean, plot hole, after plot hole, after BUCKING PLOT HOLE keeps coming up, and this is NOT overreaction like with alicorn Twilight; these are legitimate points based solely on the information we know thus far!  AND WE DON'T EVEN KNOW IF THE ACTUAL CAST FROM THE SHOW WILL BE VOICING THESE CHARACTERS!!!!!!

I'm sure that took a whole 5 minutes to copy and paste putting together.  HASBRO, Y U NO JUST LET STUDIO B FOCUS ON SEASON 4?!?!?!  Though I'm not even sure they're taking part in this; all I know is that DHX media is involved, no word if the actual Studio B group is doing anything.  Gosh dang, this just keeps getting worse and worse.

Well, good news for you. I've now decided I'll be going to see it, so that I can put together a video review like I did for Iron Man 3 (and will be doing pretty much weekly throughout the summer). There will probably be a small brony group in the Madison area that goes, including a good friend of mine, so I'll be going with them.

 

That's right... if this is really going to be as bad as you and I suspect, I'll take one for the team.

I'm not going to waste the 10 bucks. The animation is worse than what I'd expect of Nickelodeon. If they're putting that little time into the animation, I must say that I do not have high hopes for the writing either.

I guess it makes sense that it's only in the U.S, like just about everything else in the world. I'm not sure id walk into a cinema a 21 year old guy and ask "One ticket for Equestria girls please" anyway haha.

Well my town is on the list of theaters they well be showing, but I don't know if I well go and see it.

 

After watching the preview this does not look like a movie I would want to see that bad. I just don't want to waste the money and just wait to see it on the hub.
