Why are the EG haters being oppressed

Wow, if you don't think that you're gonna get more shit from this video then you're delusional.

Seriously, calling people who enjoy the EqG trailer part of the "lowest common denominator of entertainment" and basically calling anyone who enjoyed the trailer stupid? That's low, dude. You are making so many assumptions and you're even calling the friend that you posted about in your OP stupid by posting this video.

You watch ponies, dude. You are not the say-all of high quality entertainment. Ponies are good, yes. But ponies are not Hemingway. Ponies are not Dickens. Ponies are not Tolkien. Ponies are not Kubrick, or Hitchcock, or Spielberg, or Tarantino.

Ponies are just fun to watch. Ponies are entertaining. If you get something out of watching ponies, that's dandy.

So why don't you stop insulting people if you want anyone to be your friend.

I sent you a message last night explaining myself. I am just spreading the truth. Also I'm not all about ponies. MLP is miles below franchises like Star Wars. Lord of The Rings and even the Alien movies by Ridley Scott and James Cameron. I just like MLP because it's a nice throw back to 90s storytelling and character. This movie is pretty much ruining that. This is pretty much like the Star Wars christmas special

Who really cares. I mean this is the extent of her abilities in the movie. Her character will also be destroyed by having some American Dragon Jake Long boyfriend rip off

You just said you do. You're complaining that the movie isn't something that the show didn't have much of in the first place. All I'm getting is you want shit blowing up instead of seeing the character put into new situation to develop.

Also, don't call something "destroying her character" when you don't even know if it will happen, and how it will be done if it does. Relationships are part of life.

What if I told you that I despise Meet the Spartans and Epic Movie? Huh? So because I enjoyed the EqG trailer, it means that what I have to say about what I like and don't like it irrelevant, and you have the say-all in what my tastes are supposed to be?

Just because you apologize for one thing, it doesn't mean that it is OK for you to do it again.

I'm not all about shit blowing up. I am just saying it's nice to have action in a movie because it builds suspense and DEVELOPS character. I want to see the heroine fight against incredible odds and overcome them. I know this movie is going to have a sappy ending where Sunset Sham Wow becomes Twilight's friend. THAT'S IT. End of story

I think the term 'oppressed' is the wrong word to use in this instance.

People are just kind of sick of hearing the negative attitude. Now I wasn't party to the discussion but I've seen it's like all over the place. As the first response said, the tone and wording make a huge difference in the reception of a given statement.

I'm talking about the masses. The common idiot. I read your profile and I can tell you're far from stupid. The only reason we are arguing is because I'm stating my opinion passionately about how this is going to be the worst movie ever conceived by a human being. I mean you can tell this was made for the money. I can at least have some respect for movies like 21 Jump Street and Space Jam because they tell their audience that the movie is made for money.

Which is the entire point of the show, several of the villains have been redeemed that way, and you assume very little if you think this won't have some action. Remember the wedding? It completely hid Chrysalis and the Changelings from us and led us to believe it would just be a Slice-Of-Life episode to make it a surprise.

FiM is a 22min toy commercial, made to sell toys and made Hasbro money and you're on a forum for it. I don't think that argument is holding much water right now....

Stan Podalak: C'mon, Michael! It's game time! Get your Hanes on, lace up your Nikes, grab your Wheaties and your Gatorade, and we'll pick up a Big Mac on the way to the ballpark.

really subtle*sarcasm* advertising from Space Jam

It's not really a 22 min commercial. Because the characters have depth and meaning to themselves. A character that was there to look pretty is pretty much a commercial

So only the common idiot likes the trailer. And I'm the exception. And the people who hate the trailer are all "above all that." Yeah, sorry, I don't believe you. The world and its people are not that simple.

We are arguing because you are being overly-judgmental of something that hasn't been released yet, and of the people who think differently from you.

If anyone watches your video, I can guarantee that people aren't going to take to it lightly. Just wait and see.

Just take a chill pill. Sit back. Relax. Watch the movie when it comes out and laugh at it to your heart's content. I don't care that you have your reservations about the movie. I care about your judgmental approach of the entire situation. It's a little scary to me, actually.

Yes it is. Just because it turned out good doesn't change it's intended purpose. Hasbro ordered it so they could use it to sell toys, just like every other show Hasbro makes,. G.I Joe, Transformers, MLP, all of then,

2) We Are Not The Target Demographic. I think some bronies forget this! We’re not the intended audience! This whole cultural phenomenon exploded overnight. It was not supposed to happen, it was completely unplanned for. It busted every target chart the producers had planned for the show. The intended audience was little girls. Young girls, still in middle school. The same demographic who made Justin Beiber, Twilight, and High School Musical huge smash hits. So therefore, logically, it would make sense to reshoot something. They missed the mark when they started MLP, and instead of affecting little girls, it affected big, grown, strapping men. So they’ll try again, this time with a movie that parents can take their children to.

1. Faust intended to make FiM enjoyable for all demographics, sure, nobody predicted the brony explosion, but this isn't just a freak event. Plenty of adult males enjoyed Powder-puff Girls as well. Faust knows what she's doing, and Hasbro knew who they were hiring.

2. Attempting to alienate a demographic makes no sense from a business standpoint. The majority of FiM watchers are still little girls. But it's the single adults who have fat wallets and credit cards. And the bronies are buying lots of toys.

3. My guess is that EQG, rather than an attempt to block off part of the fandom, is trying to break into a third demographic: teenage girls. Girls just starting high school, wanting to get rid of childish things like ponies.

Optimism is a great trait to have (really) but blind optimism is bad.  Pretending everything is always going to be okay, even in the darkest of hours doesn't really accomplish anything.  I can appreciate that you all (Rockin + Gears + Spark + flutter ect.) won't turn your back on the fandom no matter what.  (Honestly)  We need people like you.  All that I'm saying is that, I'm a bit of a realist and perfectionist.  If I think that something isn't going to be good, I'm going to voice my opinion and hope it makes a difference.

(Keep the thread open, its important that we discuss this)

Of course.

Blind acceptance isn't the same as actually enjoying something.

I myself am completely neutral on this whole thing, i made a few posts back making it seem as if i was defending this *(which i was) but my main intention was to tell the OP that everyone can have their opinion on this, rather than people being considered "wrong" for having a preference.

I still await for the movie, i'll watch it of course, but whether i think is good or not, will depend on the outcome.

I think everyone just needs to chill, and relax for a bit.

My two cents on this entire topic is this. Whether you like the trailer or not, I feel like that we shouldn't feed our opinions down each others throats. If the movie is terrible too bad. If the movie is good, well that is good. For the people who are hating on it you should just try to be more optimistic about it. I mean what if it isn't bad.

Yes, I know how determined to express your opinions on how this is probably not going to be that great, and  you might be correct. I also, understand how worried you are on how it could people's views on the show and us. You also have to know that people already look down on us as it is already, so how much looked down upon can we get.

And people who seem that they are going to like the show who cares if he doesn't like it or not. If he doesn't want to watch the movie than that's okay. Respect his opinion also, this conversation shouldn't be a take. It should be a give, take.

Now lets just all calm down, and relax for a moment and see this in each others eyes. I looked upon both sides of the argument and both of you are correct. It is just that some people continue to make themselves look inconsiderant  to others, and this is probably why people are still arguing.

Why can't we all just 'love and tolerate' each other. Thank you

Common idiot?

What about the stereotypical close minded jerks?

The "common idiots" chose to like something, none of your business why they enjoy it.

The only idiots are those who chose to argue and shove their opinion on other people.

Who thinks that you are a tool?

There are ways to get your opinion out there that aren't so... forceful or judgmental. Or prideful.

Seriously, no one makes friends when they are full of themselves and won't have a real discussion with people. Seriously? Why mention that you like a post-modern philosopher? It doesn't make you better or smarter than everyone else.

Yeah whatever, I said I was done yesterday but I really need to be done again today. I can't talk to a wall anymore.

Fine. I'm trying to calm people down. I just told a user if she wants to enjoy the movie. That's fine. I'm just saying what I think. I'm not trying to sway people over to my side

Oh, guess what, i never said YOU'RE shoving anything on anyone, hm, assumptions, eh? Gotta love em.

I never said i'd be enjoying it, i said i'd give it a chance, unlike others, i'm not "SHUT UP GUYS, THIS'LL BE GOOD, HURR HURR TRUST THE WRITERS" I'm saying "Hey, this doesn't look bad, I'll give it a try" just like i gave it a try with MLP, and guess what i liked it, it has it's flaws, i'm aware of them, the characters i like have flaws, i'm aware of those too.

And "I don't like this movie" is not a urgent topic. He was shoving his hate of it down that guys throat, the same way anti-bronies shove their hate of this show down our throats. To say the two are any different is massive hypocrisy.

I'd like to re-stress that those of us the on first page DO know because he posted a picture of the entire conversation, and later took it down.

Although, I do agree with your closing statement.

Are you forgetting what forum you're on?  You're expecting people to not be passionate about a show on a nerdy forum website that's dedicated to this show.  I can see what you would mean if we we're on Youtube, or some other site, but come  on...  Please allow people on this site to believe anything and anything MLP related to be "urgent."

And its not hate.  Just because something is in opposition, or is negative doesn't mean its hate.

Plus, there's ways to "attack" people without necessarily chaotically cussing them out.

Also, Mint had probably the most reasonable post of the week.

While that is a point, the need to voice your opinion of how bad something sucks directly in someone's ear isn't a pressing mater, especially if said person doesn't want to hear it. He was not in the wrong to start up conversation. However, continuing to press the issue when the person politely told him he disagree'd so he didn't want to talk about "how bad it sucked" was wrong.

I, for one love debating on the things like that with people, but the person he was talking to may not feel the same way.

Also, I agree with the basic spirit of her post, just not with some of the small details.

It might be a matter of the fact that when you first watched your first episode of MLP, you had to give it a chance and possibly thought it was stupid to watch. Now Equestria Girls is coming around and this idea that you should try something before judging is around the brony community,

it's sort of just starting a schism now in the community. But I do think it is justified to suppress the haters, it's gone way too far to the point were cast and others that work at DHX are considering leaving because of personal attacks by haters. It's like that one group, most of them may be good people and civil but there is that one small portion that gives the group a bad image. So either the fandom kills itself and My Little Pony or we get our shit together through any means to keeping it alive and healthy.
