Why does everyone say EqG doesn't affect Mlp?

Title pretty self explanatory. First off I'm going to say I'm not really a fan of the whole concept, and people always tell me if it doesn't affect me I should just ignore it. Is that really true? They're producing a whole movie for this thing when they could be spending time on season 4, instead of releasing it after like a year of s3. The writers are working on eqg, and not the main series, which puts it off even further.  It's fine if you disagree with me just my opinion

What they mean is that EG can more-or-less be ignored from a canonical perspective. It'll come and go and we'll hopefully never speak of it again, making it irrelevant. Production-wise, yeah, it's probably delaying S4. Which is a bad thing.

I think what people mean to say is that it doesn't affect the mlp canon. It has no connection with the actual show storyline. Equestria Girls does in fact affect mlp in different ways, such as the ones you listed, but the show's canon remains intact.

I think they're just trying new stuff, Its true that I think The whole EQG is gonna effect the whole MLP Series, seeing how Twilight is the ONLY FFFFFING ONE THATS GOING INTO THE PORTAL! a lot of people dont seem to get that part by the way.

 

anyway Its something I doubt thats gonna affect the whole series, If you dont want to watch it then its fine, I doubt Twilight will ever mention how it felt or her experiences as a human was in season 4.

EQG is blatant Twicentrism, but who cares.

 

I honestly think it'll delay S4, but then again, it's a 7 month wait anyway.

Dude, it's been like 3 months or less since season 3 ended.

 

Give the guys some break, even if the time it takes to make the movie is long, 1 year isn't a long time, and i doubt it'll even take them that long considering they've said it'll be sometime between the fall and winter, let them take their time.

 

Also, most seasons have 3-6 months in between,  3 more months doesn't make that big of a difference.

If you look at it that way, the movie delayed S4, then yes it did affect you. But seeing as how the movie has already been made and S4 is probably already done, except for in my estimation about 3 months of animating, there isn't much to do about it anyways.

I like to think of it like any other films based on a show. In other words it never happend.

The films happen sometime between the show, but sometimes end up bringing contradictions to what's in the show.

An example is the many Dragon Ball Z films. They are ment to be in between some time periods, but sometimes they add things that don't make sense. Like in one film Goku (main protagonist) could absord the spirit bomb (powerful move) and use it to power himself, but he never did this in the show or could do this.

 

In other words, unless they mention it in the series, I consider the movie non-cannon, in other words it never happend.

The movie is complete. Done.  Ready to be released.  I'm sure season 4 is moving into animation phase now, if it hasn't already.

 

Keep in mind also, it is way more than possible for the production of the movie to happen at the same time as season 4.  DHX produces many, many animated series, and Top Draw does as well.  While Meghan, Sibsy, and whoever else were writing/storyboarding/etc EQG, that was not stopping all of the other season 4 writers/crew from working on the new season.

 

 

I think the longer delay for season 4 was potentially more likely due to waiting for Hasbro to okay another season, and less EQG.  MLP had been strategically renewed for 65 animation-standard episodes early on, so work could start much earlier.  The greenlight to continue past that threshhold into season 4 may have come later in the game than greenlights before, thus pushing production back.  

 

Not to mention, season 4 is back to being 26 episodes over 13 of season 3, leading to again a longer production time.

hey lets just chill, last time Hasbro scared us is when twilight became an alicorn, most of us are over it now, it will be the same for EQG, we will get over it and accept it

Season 4 has had a green light for quite a while now actually, it was in the Investment Documents ages ago, I found the longer waiting time more as getting used to the new vectors and writing better plot.

I reckon some of it will become Canon, but the majority will definitely be left out of the plot.

But I don't think much will be canon. But we will just have to wait and see. Maybe we were all wrong and everything in the movie will be canon.

If they get a stable wormhole through from Earth to Equestria then we know they're getting movie plots transcribed and edited from fanfiction.
