Benjamin's smile turned into a look of confusion.

I wonder if its my breath...or do I smell? He thought to himself as he saw a bunch of birds fly away.

 

Benjamin continued to stand outside, hoping to meet more neighbors. He then saw two other ponies. One looked like he just arrived and the other was coming upstairs. He decided to talk to the closest one hoping to strike up a good conversation, unlike the last one.

"Hello there, neighbour. Passing by or are you on your way to see someone?" Benjamin asks with a upbeat tone.

Dusk jumped at the sudden acknowledgement, not expected anypony to talk to him. "O-oh...uh, i'm uh, I was just...looking around, yeah. New uh, new places and all and I uh...I heard ponies up here so...just...looking around." he managed to stammer out with a somewhat awkward smile. 'Smooth Dusk...real smooth. You don't make a second first impression you know...'

 

Figuring he may as well at least attempt to be civil, he may as well try what he knew ponies did when they first met. "So uh...what's, what's your name, if you um, dont mind me asking?" he asked, best he could in a normal tone. 'Good!' "I mean...that's okay if you do, I know we don't know each other and it can be weird for somepony to ask things straight away like that, but I mean, I would like to know what to call you and...stuff..." 'Bad...' He rambled on, more to himself than to the pony infront of him, just for the sake of not creating any awkward silence between the two. He could be paranoid like that at times.

 

((OOC: So basically, when i'm typing Dusks' thoughts, they'll be in dark blue and enclosed in 'quotation marks', his speech is obviously the lighter blue.))

Benjamin put his hoof un front of the stallions face.

"Take a deep breath and be calmed. My name is Benjamin..what is yours?" He asked

Benjamin gave him a reassuring smile hoping that would make it easier for the stallion to talk to him.

Is it just me, or are all these ponies high strung or shy? He thought

Blushing a little, Dusks ears lowered and he chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck with his hoof. "Sorry...i'm...not great with meeting new ponies." Taking a deep breath he steadied his mind the best he could before he spoke again. "Name's...well, you can call me Dusk, I don't exactly care much for full names. It's uh...it's nice to meet you Benjamin." He smiled back, doing his best to come off as calm and not at all nervous. He felt like kicking himself for embarrassing himself like that, but that would have to wait till he got back to his apartment. "So uh...how...long have you been here? Yeah, that'll...that'll work."

Benjamin smiled and nodded.

"I don't even have a full name so i guess thats a plus in your book, right? Anyways, I haven't been here that long. Just long enough to unpack half of my things, and chat up some stallions." He said while giving a coy look. Benjamin kinked his neck around making it look like he was stretching it out. In reality, Benjamin was trying to see Dusk from all possible angles.

"What about you?Just get here or have you been busy unpacking?"

Taking a small step back and lowering his entire frame a few inches, he down a little and couldn't help but smile at the honestly of the stallion infront of him "No I...just got here myself. I mean like...just. I've...had about enough time to throw my suitcase in my room and sit down for 5 minutes." he chuckled nervously, "I...pack light, y'know? Figure I can buy things I need when I need 'em, i'll just bring the essentials with me." He looked around for a second, as he thought about something to keep the conversation going, he noticed the station from the window of the building "So uh, you...you come with anyone? Or did you move by yourself?"

Chirp walked into his kitchen to make some food only to find...his fridge...was empty. He stared at a rotten apple before he closed the fridge and grabbed his saddlebag. "Going out you guys...be back later." He said, looking around the room at all the birds. He smiled and went to open the door as Sunny landed on his head.
He took a deep breath and slowly pushed the door open. He looked out of the crack and inspected the hallway...to see Benjamin talking to another pony down the hall...they were blocking the rout to the stairs...which mean's Chirp would need to ask them to move...which means he would need to speak. His eyes widened and he quickly closed the door. He leaned against it and stared at the room around him...to see all the birds staring right back at him. He gulped. "I...I could just fly..." He thought, glancing at the door again. He took a deep breath and pushed it open, walking out onto the balcony. He stood there for a moment before he spread his wings and flew off the balcony.
He landed on the ground and quickly started walking away from the apartment building, towards the store.

"I tried packing light, but I soon found out that I have a lot of paraphernalia with me." Benjamin said, smiling. 

"Its just me...alone...with nothing to do but practice my techniques. I have noticed something: It seems these stallions are i desperate need to relax...you included. I think, when you're not too busy, you need to visit me and let me help you relax." He said as he noticed Dusk lowering himself.

 

Benjamin then saw the shy pony before fly around and away from him and the apartment.

"I must smell or something....that pony also needs my special treatment." He said to Dusk

Dusks eyes suddenly widened and his ears flopped again "I uh...I...you see...well..." starting to rub the back of his neck again as he took another deep breath, this time holding it in for a few seconds as he felt his heart rate rise anxiously, before slowly letting it out towards the ground. "What exactly do you mean...relax?"

Benjamin looked calmly at Dusk and smiled once more, reassuringly.

"By relax I mean aromatherapy. Let the smells of the world relax you." He said.

Benjamin felt like he might be overwhelming the stallion with his implications and gestures.

"I mean, its too early to go further than that." He said.

His ears pricked up and he lifted his head suddenly "I...what? No I wasn't...I mean..." he stuttered, unsure of how to react "I...I have to..."

"Don't do this to yourself Dusk, you came here for a fresh start, dont mess things up already..."He was warned by a certain voice in his head. An empty stare filling his eyes as he glared at the ground for a minute, slowly nodding his head. "You overreact to everything! Calm yourself..."

 

"I just meant...what do you do? You said you came to practice techniques?" 

 

"Dusk, you're losing it. You need to leave before you make a foal out of yourself...again."

Benjamin let out a sigh of relief.

ok he didn't notice that last statement. He thought as he readied himself to speak.

"I'm a Judo master, so when im not relaxing and being zen, I practice my Judo techniques." He explained

Benjamin was feeling a bit happy. The conversation was the longest one he had with another resident. He couldnt get the other stallion with the bird companion of his mind. There was something about him and Dusk that was appealing to Benjamin, but he could not place his hoof on it.

"And here's me reading books all day..." he chuckled "How do you find the energy to do something like that?" He asked, rather more inquisitive and more comfy than he had been feeling. It never did take him long to start feeling comfortable around new ponies, but actually getting to talk to them was his problem...

Auburn looked around his room. It had taken far longer than expected to unpack all of his belongings but he felt like he did a good job of it.He decided he should go pick up some groceries so that he could fix dinner for himself tonight, as he walked down the stairs to the front of the building his mind wandered to that kind stallion who had helped him carry his belongings up the stairs."What was his name again...... I think that his name was Mel."​Auburn belittled himself for being so forgetful all the time.

As he walked out the front doors of the apartment building he noticed a Pegasus standing outside with saddle bags slung over his back. It struck him as odd that so many people were moving in today.He called out to the pegasus"Hello there are you moving into this building today?"

"Well, the thing is with me and Judo, I try to exert as little force as i can....you know..let the universe's energy help me as i flow through the movements." Benjamin said.

He saw two stallions in the corner of his eye but kept his attention on Duck.

"What do you do, Dusk? Are you here by yourself as well?"

"I just...get by, y'know? Best I can day by day. Pass my spare time with reading, sometimes drawing...I dont have the energy to do sport, or anything like that." He didn't notice the other ponies with them, he just continued darting his eyes around at the floor and the walls, occasionally returning eye contact for a moment before looking around again. "Aromatherapy sounds...interesting, I would...I think i'd be pretty interested in that." He stood up straight, stretching legs as far as he could, he came to a good head and shoulders height above Benjamin, before he slumped back down again. "Sorry, it gets uncomfy like this after a while..." he mumbled, slightly embarrassed. "Oh! And uh, yeah i'm here...alone. I never really... ... ...yeah, alone."

"You just moved in here too?", Percussive asked, shaking Mel's hoof. "So did I. My house flooded just a few days ago. And I don't have home insurance, so I have to head out here. It's not a total loss, because yeah, this place is pretty nice! It's cool that you're staying next door to me now! And call me Percuss!"

"Well howdy, Percuss! I bet we're gonna be bosom buddies soon enough. So what do ya do for a living? I bet you're a drummer of some sorta, judging by your name. Uh, do you mind if I come inside and take a seat?" he asked Percussive, trying to be friendly, yet polite.

After getting everything he needed, Chirp returned to the apartments...with allot of stuff. He flew back up to the balcony, but on landing, his saddlebag ripped open and his food came tumbling out.
He let out a small squeak and quickly scrambled around, picking it all up.

"Well, whenever you are free, or you need to relax just come by my apartment." Benjamin said.

His ears twitched a little as he heard a faint squeak. It was the pony from before who had the bird as a companion.

Benjamin causally trotted over and used his magic to pick up some of his stuff.

"Here, let me help you with that. You shouldn't try to carry everything in one bag." He said

Chirp looked up at Benjamin and blushed. "Th-thanks..." He said, barely audible. As he placed the last two apples into his saddlebag...the side that wasn't broken. He stood up straight and shuffled his hooves. Sunny fluttered down and landed back on his head.

Benjamin smiled a little. He could have sworn the stallion said something. He had to be sure though.

"Eh, Im sorry. I am blanking on your name right now." He said as he looked at the blushing stallion.

aww, thats adorable...he is blushing...or could be sick. either way the redness on his cheeks is cute. He thought.

Benjamin was tempted to invite the stallion inside for an aromatherapy session but held off for a bit.

Chirp gulped again and opened his mouth...but it took a little longer for sound to come out...but the only sound that did come out was another small squeak.
His blush got worse and he took a few step's back, but he still stared up at Benjamin...who (like most other colts) was much taller than him.

I'm a musician too, but I haven't really left the area I was born before, so this is a big change for me, moving here and all. I can see how it must be tiring though," he said, plopping down in a chair.

 

"It doesn't really get so tiring... The first few concerts can drain you horribly, but after that, it follows suit.", Percussive said, sitting down into the opposite chair, and looking back at Mel. "It's not hard to do, to be honest... Just need to acquire a good taste of strong caffeine.", he joked.
