Discord is stronger than anypony else in Equestria?

I fairly certain discords power cannot be match by anypony elses in all of equestria, but im not tottally sure.

I say this because discord can do amazing things like move celestial bodys at whim over and over again any time he wants, he can break a spell that, only Celestia was supposed to be able to break, Alter personalities , and even strip ponys of there wings or horns.BUT he can be defeated by the elements of Harmony with ease.

Didn't Celestia successfully enchant the Elements Of Harmony to keep him from stealing them in Keep Calm And Flutter On? He's nigh-unstoppable, true, but not immune to certain tricks.

 

P.S. - Why didn't she do that in The Return Of Harmony?

Because when She initially locked the Elements of Harmony, Discord was not a threat as he was still incased in stone.

 

Discord is a major plot hole to me. The main problem is: If he was defeated by the Elements 1000 years ago, why did he assume they wouldn't work when the mane 6 tried to use them? Unless maybe he wanted to be turned to stone? coughcoughBACKGROUND PONYcoughcough

Well, even though Celestia and Luna had to defeat Discord in order to protect Equestria but they had to send the Mane 6 to take care of Discord so maybe Discord was stronger until the Elements of Harmony defeated him.

Well considering that Celestia herself said that Discord ruled over Equestria with his oppression and tyranny for a substantial time, ironic given that he's the bearer of anarchy, that says a lot about his power if not sheer influence. Truthfully though we haven't seen the whole world of Equestria, let alone the world outside it to definitively say that Discord is stronger than "anypony" else.

 

Despite all his god like powers and condescension of the ponies and Equestria however, its important to note that even Discord has tangible traits that make him more down to earth, if not relatable to. For all the power that the elements of harmony and their wielders possessed, Celestia included, it was not magic or some supernatural force that brought down and neutralized the negative influence of Discord. Rather it was a simple act of kindness and compassion and befriending him.

 

Whether or not that makes him weaker I don't know. But it certainly shows that even an immortal god like being such as him is in some key aspects not that different from everyone else. Discord surprised even himself.

 

I wonder what else Trollestia and co are scheming and hiding from us.

If you talking about Return of Harmony Part 2 then it's probably because of the fact Discord is very prideful. It's kind of a negative trait he has to where it blinded him to see that Twilight and her friends were back to normal after he corrupted them. Since the first time the mane 6 attempted to use the EoH; it failed horribly and then Discord figured it wouldn't have worked a second time either.

Reality-warping is the godfather of OP characters throughout fiction, science-fiction and fantasy. Generally, when you run across a being that has the power to warp reality and existence around them, they cannot be beaten directly without using some sort of OP mystical item (EoH), or by being outwitted. The fact that Discord is a reality-warping 'spirit' of a primordial law of nature (chaos), means that it's very safe to assume he's the strongest character yet seen on the show.

If you talking about Return of Harmony Part 2 then it's probably because of the fact Discord is very prideful. Pride, plus plot device for 'we have a limited amount of show time'. Discord really not noticing that they were no longer Discorded, when he himself has been assuredly doing this for thousands of years and knows how his victims look and act, and the fact that he didn't jump out of the way or anything during the fifteen-second frame of time between the girls powering up the elements and then shooting them at him, really just falls to the writers. If this weren't a kids' show, and they didn't have time restraints, I doubt he'd have been defeated so quickly.

Hmm yes that seems to be the real reason as well as for 10 other episodes with rushed endings. Still though I'd like to believe Discord  isn't too powerful as what Celestia stated in Keep Calm and Flutter On. She had placed a spell on the EoH to keep Discord from messing with them as he had done previously. That means that there is an effective spell against Discord other than the EoH  because Discord didn't even attempt to get rid of them.

   Currently, I'd say so...by far, actually. The only pony I believe who comes relatively close besides the Sisters would be King Sombra, as he is the embodiment of evil, similar to how Discord is the embodiment of chaos and disharmony. However, as chaos is undoubtedly more important than evilness on the grand scale of things, that makes Discord more powerful than Sombra.

That means that there is an effective spell against Discord other than the EoH  because Discord didn't even attempt to get rid of them.

 

Magic isn't so cut and dry, though. Enchantments placed on items can stop even the most powerful of individuals if the charm is powerful enough. This is a concept seen all throughout Harry Potter and any number of other magic-based universes, and it's a reasonable thing to include here as well. Obviously, even a near-god like Discord can't do -anything-, or it'd be almost impossible to use him effectively in a storyline. Thus, they included indirect constraints. The spell didn't do anything to Discord, it just protected the Elements, which honestly, are already incredibly powerful as is. I don't believe it's a real restrain on his own pure power though.

 

A more arguable example of something that could have worked against him would be the reforming spells Twilight planned to use, but that Discord ate. I can't prove they'd have worked or not against him, since he took advantage of Celestia's oversight and foiled Twilight's plans.
