Everypony died off or something?

Don't tell me everyone's lost interest in this already? That'd suck, I really like these kind of "open world" RPs, just a shame they never really take off :(

Well, old friend, I see you've started this thing up again. Well, if you're still taking, you know who I'm using.

(Charon if you didn't guess)

EDIT: I've edited a few things in him, nothing too big.

(keep in mind this is ancient)

EDIT: Here is an OC I would like I use.

Name: Cerberus

Age:Built and Registered 30 years ago

Gender: Male Programming

Race: Stampede-Class Destroyer

Coat Color: The Metal from which he is built is a dying white, with more metallic gray and rust evident.

Mane Color: N/A

Cutie Mark: A red outline of a bull, albeit crudely drawn

Eye Color: Green, but changes on "mood"

Faction: Affliated with whoever he sees fit, but looking into his programming extremely patriotic messages about Equestria can be found

Profession: Soldier/Mercenary

Ship: Rides around in a small and rusty, yet durable ship with the words,"Charon, Your Escort to Hell" inscribed on the side

Background: Formerly a soldier whom was ultra-patriotic to Celestia, but he left a few years ago upon discovering its dying state. He still had a hatred for the Rebels wired in him, but these are for more personal reasons. In battle, he usually uses a magic blaster and can turn his left hoof into a buzz-saw. His magic is limited to levitation and one-way teleportation. He speaks in the 3rd person, saying, "We" and ,"This unit" I place of I and Me.

He's still based off HK-47 and Boone, with a bit of this guy added.

Yup!  I stopped looking for characters, but considering your role in the last RP, I'd love to have you in this one ;) Find a way to make an entrance and start posting! :)

*Sigh*

While I don't exactly want to, I fear I may have to drop out of this RP. I've been keeping up with it for the most part while I wait for Flame Dancer to reply again, but there's really no way I can separate Metal Gear from Flame Dancer and have it make sense. If he's dropped out, then it looks like i'm going to have to as well, sorry guys :(

I don't think he's dropping out. He's just busy. He just posted. Anyway, if you still feel like that's what you should do, then goodbye I guess, and it was nice having you.

Erm, before I post, I should note that Aquila and Makaanika are with the ship. Deadeye and Cerberus surely would have spotted them. Perhaps this was overlooked? I'll wait for a reply here before posting.

Also, just checking - Aegis was originally meant to be an ancient AI from another race masquerading as a Pony-built AI. The reason for such was to give a slight nod to my own works (which are still in progress), and to give Aegis an interesting, if likely unrevealed layer of depth. This said, Storm adding that she was a part of the Aegis project, and therefore built Aegis to some extent, is fine, however I would prefer if Durandal had something to do with the project itself. This would imply Durandal being involved in the upper echelons of Equestria/the Commonwealth, however I expect Durandal and Aegis' backstory to be little more than a personal nod, unless you desire to work them in to the story. Is this acceptable?

If any of you wish to know more about Durandal and Aegis, I can explain in-depth the relationship I intended them to have. Otherwise, a simple yes or no to my inquiry is fine - it does not effect the RP itself.

Damnit, I just can't get over how similar this is to Mass Effect. I know it's unconscious, but seriously.

Sorry, I'm just a huge fanboy, that's all.

Heh! There certainly are similarities, though I would argue that the Terminus Systems aren't a polity, but an area outside of the Citadel's realm of influence. In contrast, the Empire is certainly a polity, with a wide area of influence. I would agree though that the Terminus Systems and the Empire both pose a major threat to their respective counterparts.

The Federation appears to be something of an Alliance if it had seceded from the Council, though I'd argue with diminished power. The Alliance was apparently capable of going toe-to-toe with the Turians, but I doubt the Federation has that much military might.

Also, I can see the similarities, but I dunno. Changelings remind me of insects, while Rachni remind me of shrimp. I see them as being more powerful Drones that aren't under the heel of the Covenant, and can shapeshift.

Finally, Aegis is meant to draw a bit from EDI, yes, though I admit my major inspiration for him was Durandal. (No, not me, the AI from Marathon, a game by Bungie)

@,

Yes, I know the whip is in his backstory, but if you remember at the beginning of this RP, Metal Gear went and bought the power supply so he could attempt to create an energy based whip, instead of a magical one.

I misread all of that then, I had the impression it was simply to run the machinery.

Slicer wouldn't part with the whip he already has.

I know, we discussed it on facebook right at the start before I even mentioned it in the RP :P

I already had the idea in my head and had the post about buying the parts, but didn't know what for. The basic thing we came up with was it would end up like most of Metal Gears machines he sells to other ponies - broken.

Ooookay...I don't remember discussing that but, alright.

I'm still a little unsure because even then, Slicer still wouldn't agree to having another whip...so...I dunno.

I'm sorry guys, i'll definitely be dropping out of this RP here.

Hit a pretty personal low and I just don't think i'll be able to keep posting, much less make anything interesting to read.

Sorry,

wasn't subscribed to the OOC topic. It's a cool thing, send me a PM so we can work out a backstory, sounds good?

I will be attending QuakeCon for the next three days, so I will more than likely be absent for the next three days. I intend to keep track of the RP, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to post much.

Also, I've been meaning to ask: whatever happened to the Griffons? They're generally depicted as aggressive and expansionist, so I'm wondering if they're simply a part of the Coalition/Federation/Empire, or if they're just some background polity that is insignificant as a result of some prior event.

Cheers,

Duri

They are a part of the Federation. They are the most aggressive party within the Federation, and their expansionist ways are partly why the Federation has any major conflicts with the Coalition.

Okay guys, I'm considering closing this roleplay. We've been struggling along the whole time, and it's always felt like it was about to die. I loved the idea, but I think it's better suited to a fic than a roleplay. It's been pretty slow and kind of dull. Unless people are totally heartbroken about this decision, I'm going to close the roleplay.

I wanted this to succeed, but it doesn't look like it can.

To be honest I feel like this RP could have been done better.

First, it felt like the prologue overstayed its welcome - though I considered the sideplot between Aquila and Storm to be interesting, outside of it very little was actually done. The characters had already been explained at this point, and really about half-way through I was just waiting on the story to actually kick off. Prologues are meant to tie up loose ends between characters and start the inner mechanisms of the plot. Once these goals are accomplished, its best to just begin.

Another issue I found was a lack of commitment. From looking at the OOC, it appears to me that only half of the people who signed up actually stayed with the RP. This can spell doom for just about any RP.

And finally, I can't help but think that you're being too lenient, Melon. I've only ever seen you direct this RP in a certain direction once, and that was the guard attack scene. Though I commend you trying to give your players some room, it's OK to steer an RP in a certain direction, as long as you don't go too far. There's a fine line between directing and railroading - the former can help move an RP along, the latter can stifle character development and restrict users.

As for the RP closing, I think we should move it along first. I've posted just about all I can with Aquila - he's not that much of a fighter, and Aegis and Storm are practically waiting on Deadeye to advance the plot. I think the same can be said of Fire and Agent. Additionally, how about we get in touch with some of the other users? Thunder Knight and Redstorm dropped out of the race fairly quickly, without so much as a word since the first few pages, and Steel Accord posted an introductory post. If nothing else, request that they get with the program or get removed - it may be harsh, but sometimes people need some tough love to cooperate efficiently.
