Perhaps they're smart for their age and skipped a couple grades? That seems to be the most logical guess I could think of besides the possibility of Canterlot High being both a high school and a junior high/middle school (which seems to be less likely considering there are only a handful of younger students there and we've seen the CMC in the same classroom as students who are older than them in a scene in Friendship Games).

I believe that they are 9th graders in the movie. So they are barely out of middleschool.

I do wish that Equestria Girls didn't make the girls highschoolers since in MLP:FIM, they're adults and I feel like it was a bit weird to have adult pony Twilight go to highschool.

I don't really despise those two but I certainly don't care for them. I just feel like they should've done more with those characters. And the Flash x Twilight was pretty awkward haha. I just wasn't feeling the chemistry since pony-Twilight is a confirmed adult so, y'know having her develop a crush on a teenager is kind of weird. Though I'm pretty sure they were 12th graders/years (seniors) so Flash could've been 18 so maybe it wasn't weird. But since the writers never confirmed I'm on edge about it...

Does anyone know what happened to Starlight in the human world? I was expecting her to have some major part in Equestria Girls, but she showed up for one episode and then disappeared!!!
