THE WILD HUNT

Recommended Posts

((Scratch that, the characters are right :P... Go ahead and pretend we decided to go to Markarth. That land is quite twisted, and would be an excellent place to start things off.))

Stygian halted the others when he heard the voice of Hermaeus Mora in his mind.

"Are you so easily convinced champion? Windhelm holds nothing for you, at least not now. Head to the land of Markarth, where the land is steeped in the ancient magic long forgotten and forbidden..."

"No, forget Windhelm. Mora has informed me that we are to go to Markarth instead. It makes sense really, what with all the ancient rituals that have spiritually twisted the land. I'd suspect there would be something of interest there..."

Stygian changed directions and walked towards the direction of Markarth. He wondered what it is that they'd find there. Nighttime was beginning to creep in, and that's when the group of Orcs and dremora decided to show their faces.

"It is quite odd to see such a large group out so late," sneered the demon in front. "Especially when the whole cannot seem to notice they are being followed...."

About five strong looking orcs spread out, drawing their large weapons and assuming battle stance. Five other dremora, all mages, approached the group from behind while the lead demon laughed mockingly.

"You reek of powerful energy, all of you. It is quite a shame Draxius has ordered us to hunt down the ones who are powerful... well, not really."

The lead demon signalled for the Orcs to move in...

Zora's ear picked up noise around them. Listening closely he could the snapping of twigs. Then He heard the laughter of a Dremora.

"Damn it all!"said Zora "How could I be so careless?"

"We need to move, Now!" Zora looked around could see the orcs around them.

"Too late they got us surrounded. Looks like We are in for a fight" Pulling back the arrow in his bow he shot the nearest Orc. Aiming for it's eye.

Rhaz stood there for a moment, watching the bounty hunters surround the champions, counting the number of enemies and weapons, after he had made his assessment, the bounty hunters decided to move in, rhaz grunted in anticipation before pulling death off his back faster than most thought possible and swinging it at a pair of orc hunters that happened to be unlucky enough to be close together, connecting with a bone-shattering crack, and sending both of their lifeless bodies rolling on the forest floor, rhaz then rested death on his shoulder and looked at the other hunters, "i think you will be the ones to die..." said rhaz darkly.

"Common thugs and dremora are all the great Draxius has to support him? How sad!"

The strange hieroglyphs on Stygian's robes began to glow dark green and slither across the fabric, some even "pouring" off the ends of the sleeves and turn into tendrils, which then coiled together to form a strange staff with the head of a gaping Lurker at the end. The tentacles composing the staff were still visible and writhing, but the way Stygian gripped it firmly and smashed it into the ground made it quite clear it was rather durable.

"This shall be quite amusing indeed," said the Altmer haughtily. "I hope the rest of you know your strengths, so it is up to you to decide which of these curs to dispose of. As for me..."

Stygian spun the writhing staff and smashed the lurker head straight into the ground. Second later, a flurry of dark tendrils erupted behind him, impaling a dremora behind him.

"I'll take the dremora!"

Pulling the staff from the ground, Stygian turned to face the dremora behind the group, smirking as he pointed the lurker head back towards a charging orc. He grinned more cruelly as he heard the Orc shout in pain as the gaping jaws of the staff bit down on his head.

The lead dremora cursed and summoned a few more dremora warriors and mages. They charged while the mages charged and fired their spells.

Abraxus fired a few fire bolts at the mages. "Really now this is a bit much" Abraxus said as he pulled out Dawnbreaker and stabbed one of the soldiers and used him as a shield for the mages attacks. "Like I said...a bit much" Abraxus said as he froze one of the warriors.

Rhaz scoffed at the dremoras attempt at calling reinforcments, "do you really think it matters how many weakling you bring into this fight? I'll just crush every one you decide to call!" Said rhaz savegly before quickly running up to a small group of orcs before sending them flying like ragdolls with a sweep of his hammer, he then quickly turned to a dremora warrior and with one precise swing of death, he nocked the unlucky dremoras head off his shoulders. Rhaz then chuckled evilly as he charged up to an oblivious mage before swinging his hammer above his head and imploding the unfortunate mages spinal structure, leaving him in a broken heap on the ground, rhaz eagerly continued his rampage.

"If its a fight they want..."

*Alzack said as he drew the Ebony Blade.*

"Then I guess we have no choise but to oblige."

*Alzack dashed at a dremora warrior, swift as the wind, and cut off the warriors arm. The warrior swung around at Alzack with its other arm, weapon in hand. Alzack quickly dodged underneath the swing and slashed his blade upwards, slicing the dremora and sending it to the ground.*

"One."

*Alzack continued on to the next, this time it was a dremora mage. The mage launched a fireball at Alzack, who blocked the brunt of it with his blade. Unfortunately, his cloak caught fire. Alzack quickly tore it off to reveal the strong durable nordic carved armor he wore beneath.*

"Still feeling lucky?"

*Alzack asked the dremora mage with a twisted grin. Before the dremora could answer, Alzack was on him, blade through his skull, and fallen to the ground. Alzack stood up and pulled his blade from the dremora.*

"Whos next?"

*Alzack said confidently.*

Eos sighed. "I'm really not suited to this open combat thing, so pardon while I leave," she said cheerfully, waving as she melted into the shadows. Crouching, she sneaked around their lines, and smiled. While perhaps she wasn't the best at the open charge, she was damn good at ground control.

Slithering up a tree, Eos drew her bow and notched. While she wasn't as skilled with her archery as with her magic, it was good enough to get at least a few shots, and her inky armour blended neatly with the darkness of the leafy trees.

Firing, she managed to fell an Orc who had carelessly removed his helmet, and inwardly cheered. Hopefully the rest were as thick-headed so not as to notice where the arrows came from, she notched another, and then heard a crack behind her.

The dremora must have noticed her made a noise because she heard him lunge, and she rolled out of the tree as his blade grazed her arm. Gasping in pain as she rolled and hoping nothing broke, she slung her bow over her back and held out her hands to fire a spike of ice. Unfortunately her aim was off and she was forced to duck as he swung his heavy sword. Realizing her advantage of quickness, she dove to the left and tried to get her blade out, though it seemed to be stuck. The dremora laughed as it approached, throwing its head back, but as it looked down to strike it saw nothing. Too late he realized, and Eos was already jumping on top of him from up in a tree, slamming him flat into the ground. She flipped him over and widened her eyes. "SURPRISE!" she squealed, and she quickly killed him, returning to check on the group. So far, no one appeared to hasv sustained wounds besides herself, which was good seeing as she was a fairly crap healer. Redrawing her bow, she slipped closer to Rhaz, tossing a pincone at his shoulder from her spot in the shadow.

@

"Hey, big boy," she whispered. "You charge 'em, and I'll shoot from up here." She notched another arrow and nudged him with her foot. "Go on, then."

Rhaz nodded in aknowledgment, before lifting his hammer and rushing a large group of orcs and daedra, before using his hammer as a bumper and barreling through them, sending them flying in all directions, rhaz turned around to admire his handiwork, "a few are still alive, try finishing them with your bow, I'll take care of that group over there and you can do the same with any other survivors, got it?" Asked rhaz quitely.

"Burn" Abraxus said as he shot fire bolts at various orc turning them to ash and slicing their necks with his blade. "I swear this is too easy" Abraxus said as he sheathed Dawn breaker and made ice appear in his other hand. "hmm" Abraxus fired both elements freezing and burning a orc holding a great sword with heavy armor on.

"Cool beans," said Eos cheerfully, and, albeit a little clumsily, she managed to get the rest of the daedra and orcs, most who were winded by the blows that Rhaz had landed. Frowning, she nibbled on a leaf that had fallen on her face as she followed Rhaz. While not usually much of a team player, preferring to work alone, there was no point in fighting a battle she would surely lose without the help of those others fighting for the same cause. While she didn't have to get friendly with them, they'd be useful in furthering her aims.

Wishing she could use her magic again, Eos noticed a young orc stumble towards her as he was shoved back. He clearly didn't want to be there, fighting with a lackluster tone, and she felt a twinge of pity-the races of dremora and man were so forceful. Reluctantly she took out her dagger and, as she pulled him into the shadows, whispered an apology as she killed him. It wasn't fair, having to take one so young, and she hoped that the Divines and the Daedra alike would take pity on his soul.

Rhaz was getting a little ahead and she shook her head, then followed him, trying not to feel guilty. For all her bravado, she still felt uncomfortable. She continued to fire shots, but they were less eager and she missed more often now.

"Let's hurry and finish this little section up," she said to Rhaz. "Everyone else can deal with their own."

Rhaz noticed Eos's reluctence at killing the orcs, "hhmmm....while she may be abit feisty to the people she meets, it seems as though the thief isn't very comfortable with killing these enemies.....and her shots are becoming less and less acurate.....if she's not carful she could get herself killed on the battlefield...." thought rhaz before absentmindedly dodged a swing from a dremora with a mace, before hitting him with the shaft of his hammer and knocking him to the ground, he then fininshed it, off by smashing its skull in with one swing, rhaz then turned to Eos, "hesitation can get you killed..." said rhaz slowly but firmly.

"Deal with their own..heh" Abraxus said as he killed the last of the orcs that surrounded him and saw the others fighting. "Still so many of them...well not as many but hey...if they burn they burn" Abraxus said as he charged up a fire bolt. "I guess I can just burn all of them" Abraxus thought

*Alzack turned from his last victim to see a pair of dremora warriors approaching him. Alzack pulled the ebony blade from the corpse of his last opponent and began to walk towards the approaching dremora.*
"Come on, lets see if you can do better than those who have fallen."

*Alzack jogged the last few meters towards his opponents and swung his sword at them. The first one blocked his attack, while the second one swung at him with his mace. Alzack dodged backwards, but one of the sharp spines of the mace still managed to make a cut across the bridge of his nose. The wound began to bleed, it was deep. Alzack pushed the dremora away and took a few steps back. He put his hand to his face and wiped some of the blood away. He looked at the blood on his gauntlet, and then smiled.*

"Well this is unexpected."

*Alzack gripped his ebony blade more fiercely as he grinned at his opponents.*

"Looks like you two are going to be more of a challenge than the last."

*Alzack charged forwards at the two dremora and got between them, pushing them away from each other. He then slashed his sword at one of the dremora, hitting his hand, causing him to drop his mace. The other dremora charged back at Alzack, but Alzack kicked him away. Alzack rolled under a punch from the first dremora and during the roll, picked up the dremora's mace. Upon standing up again, now behind the first dremora, Alzack swung the mace into the back of its head, cracking its skull and sending it toppling to the ground, dead. Alzack turned towards the remaining dremora and swung his ebony blade at him, which the dremora blocked with its greatsword. Alzack pressed forwards until he was face to face with the dremora warrior.*

"Still feeling confident?"

*He asked the dremora as he drove his knee into its stomach. He then pushed the dremora away from the contact causing it to fall to the ground. Alzack was quickly standing on top of it and he plunged his sword into the dremora's face. His face was now solemn again, as it normally was, out of his battle frenzy. He looked over to the rest of his group who seemed to be faring well against the foe's dwindling numbers.*

"Looks like we are just about do-"

*Alzack was interrupted by the mace of a dremora warrior slamming into his face. The impact stunned him and sent him down onto his back on the ground. The mace had hit him in the left eye, it was not gone, or too badly wounded, but he was heavily dazed, he would not be able to fight back any longer for now. The dremora stalked toward Alzack, slowly, eager to take his life.*

"I realize that," said Eos a little snappishly, but all the same she straightened her arm a bit and her aim improved. "But killing children isn't really my style. Why they're playing the hero out here, I don't know." Realizing she was stepping into the light a bit much, she glanced around. "I'm going to fall back again, do some work from the trees," she said as she sidled away from him. "Getting to close to the open. Won't do much there."

"Yeah...."

*Alzack mumbled as he held his bleeding face.*

"I should be fine, I just need to rest for a little bit. How many of those dremora are left?"

*He asked. He dug into his backpack and took out a potion, he quickly took a swig of the liquid and allowed it to soothe the pain from his wound.*

(Im just putting it out there, for this rp, I feel like health potions should not heal wounds, but instead just act as intense painkillers, and  something that stops wounds from bleeding. Not my decision, just an idea for consideration.)

(OoC: That sounds like a good plan to me.)

Eos noticed his pain and made her way over, stealing in beside him. She looked mildly concerned.

"That looks quite painful, I know a little Restoration. Here." She turned his face towards her and traced her long finger down it.

"Not too deep, but you will have a raging headache and you may need some stitches," she murmured with a little chuckle, leaning closer to his face to examine it closer still. "Lucky thing it didn't do any more than this, you have a thicker skull than I though. Explains why you got a wound to the face, ynfytyn, don't leave it unguarded. Did you take a potion? Blood looks like it's clearing a little."

A dremora began to sneak up behind her, but she was immersed in her work, for once not paying attention to her surroundings.

@,

"Watch out" Abraxus said stabbing the dremora. "I swear do you ever pay attention to what is around you...we almost had another person injured" Abraxus said as he cut of the dremoras head. "Learn to check around before you let your guard down...enemy will know when your guard is done and will attack" Abraxus thought

"I lost,"

*He said with a sigh.*

"Guess I have to start over again."

*He raised the knife up to his head and sliced off the braid he had down the right side of his face. He looked at the braid in his hand and then tossed it into the fire of a burning dremora.*

"Good enough," she said, clapping him heartily on the back. "Can't get them all."

Hearing Abraxus' comment, she turned to face him. "There is no need to be upset," said Eos coolly. "I would assume that the fact that there are a minimum of three people around me would ensure that I could get someone the treatment that they required. After all, you seem to be doing more than your fair share of the work, I assumed you were at least semi-competent. But then again, I suppose I ought to be thanking you, but that's not my style. After all, it is Lady Nocturnal who controls my luck."

She noticed that the wound the dremora had given her earlier was still bleeding a little and she squeezed the area, looking at it with morbid fascination.

'Wouldn't you know, his blade was poisoned!" she said cheerfully. "Ah, well, I can get that worked on later if my arm doesn't fall off. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'd prefer not to stay in this garish sun too long. Bad on the eyes, wouldn't you know."

"Poisoned? Thats not good."

*Alzack dug back into his backpack and took out a small poison antidote.*

*He handed her the antidote.*

"You helped me, its only right that I should help you."

Now, again, pardon me, I'm off to sit in a tree for a bit." An orc that approached them slowly fell to her arrow in its eye, and she pumped her fist in the air. "Bullseye!...quite literally!" she cheered, and she skipped into the shadows, swigging the antidote.

Cheered by her recent success (her Restoration usually would melt faces off rather than heal them, she was so bad), she got in another tree and sat in wait.
