Rate my favorite and first oc

Lately I've been having doubts about whether or not my favorite oc, crimson grinn, is cool, unique, or interesting enough, so I want to ask other bronies their oppinions on him, please be honest.

he seems original enough to me. very interesting backstory and i've never seen any other oc with control over fire.

i'd only suggest that you get a better picture of him somehow, since this one wasn't that clear. but on the OC himslef i have nothing to add.

Anyway, judging from how i'm reading your OC, you need a better picture of him. First of all, the cutie mark backstory is...tragic. Too tragic. Ponies cannot die. Also, i'd doubt that somepony's cutie mark would be of a skull. This is a kids show, for god's sake.

 

The backstory is a bit much too, but it's good to see something interesting.

I understand where your coming from, and what your saying, but does it really matter whether or not the backstory sounds series compatable? I mean seriously, like 80% of oc's I've seen wouldn't fit at all in the actual show, but anyway, sorry for rambling, I just wated to say that, thank you for your opinion.

The whole reason why I like OC's whose backstories fit into the actual show is because it's good. Original. Actually could be canon. If 80% of OC's don't fit into the actual show, then shouldn't you strive to be part of that 20% who is compatible with the actual show?

Lol, good point, but sorry, I like my oc's style how it is, true it has nearly zero canon compatability, but hay, it is what it is....... but thanks for the advice anyway!

I've made some new modifications to crimson's backstory and cutie mark story, and if you haven't already noticed, crimson now has a new full gear and colored picture! Opinions please?

To be completely honest, he isn't entirely "original". But seriously, NOTHING interesting is EVER original these days, especially if you're looking to use him as an interesting story character. I enjoy the fact that he exists outside of the canon world, and he actually reminds me a bit of one of my own OCs, Venetia, who is an assassin. I also kinda like that you added just enough cheesiness to prevent him from seeming TOO separated from mlp fim, which is something I've never tried to do (I generally write grimdark, and the few novels I've written have been known to be very detailed, graphic, and emotional, which is something you generally wouldn't find in little kid shows).

 

That reminds me though....I still need to finish drawing her O.e

 

PS: I would suggest altering his color scheme a bit, it's not too terrible, but you can tell that not much time was taken to pick the colors. The clothing definitely aids in the overall appearance.

Personally, and I hope you don't take this harshly, but the story behind your OC's cutie mark is COMPLETELY far-fetched, some parts of it made me throw up in my mouth, it's disgustingly gory. Also, overall he seems a bit cliche in all areas.

 

That's just my opinion, though.

Its your opinion bro, I can't tell you what to like and what not to like, so say what you want but I want his story to be dark and brutal, its in contrast with his personality, and yes, I am aware that his personality is very cliche, but I don't really mind, but thanks for both your opinions anyway. /)
