My OC, new haircut and clothes and stuff! [shmexy version]

I redrew my OC, Acoustic Cloud.  This isn't a full out revamp but it's close enough.
I compare him here to my last painting of him.  And since he's my Ponysona, I thought I'd draw him how I look right now.

If you don't mind me asking, what's your process for your art (scanning or tablet, illustrator or color in Photoshop)? I'm drawing by hand, taking pictures, then vectoring with Illustrator. It's effective, but soul crushing.

Normally for all my art I do it all in Photoshop.  But after chatting with Kenniks, his art swayed me to give Paint Tool Sai another go.  So in this particular one, I draw a rough sketch on a layer and then lower the opacity, then do another layer on top and repeat that until I get some smooth linework.  Then I proceeded to just color this one in.

Haha your OC has got a pretty swell look going on. Digging the glasses and that hair.. impressive. I saw that picture of you on your profile and your OC looks very similar! You did a great job ponifying yourself!

I really like your new OC'S style. It looks very fresh. I think when  other people see another pony's OC'S style they do the exact same thing to theirs except with different colors.

Heh.. yeah. Seems like the hair is a bit shorter but still has the same style, and he wears glasses now. Haha oh yeah, I'm gonna miss your avatar of EQ Girls Dashie juggling that soccer ball

I was using Paint Tool SAI myself for a bit, like with the Rainbow Dash Pizza vector. The best thing it has going for it is the line pressure feature, which is actually a lot more accurate and useable than Illustrator's stroke width tool.

 

It got kinda frustrating after a while due to the lack of gradient and circle tools. I've used Illustrator before, around two years ago we spent a whole year learning how to use it in Multi Media. I'm a bit rusty, unfortunately.

 

I wish I was good with a tablet.

Yeah, nothing from mine is another person's; I drew it all from scratch. 

If anyone's looks like mine, they either stole it, or they are my doppelganger.

I remember that picture xD Yes, Sai has a fantastic tablet compatibility.  But all gradients have to be made manually with color choices and tools. (Which adds for more uniqueness/customization and accuracy.)

 

Illustrator is great too, I just don't use it with a tablet, I strictly use it for vectors with the mouse.

Tablet skills come 100% with practice.  Nobody is good their first few goes with a tablet.  I didn't get well at using it until a week of nonstop using it.  So you just have to use it a bunch.
