At the sound of Crimson's voice, Inks peeked his head out of his room. Heard of me? How has he heard of me?  Inks shook his head and trotted carefully out of his room. He stopped dead in his tracks at a sudden realization.  This is to celebrate Hearts and Hooves Day? Ohh that means I'm gonna have to talk to a mare... Buck meee. He continued walking towards the captain. "Um... hello Captain Crimson. What do you mean you've heard of us from somewhere? If uh... you don't mind me asking."

Stone looked up at the new captain "hmmm, crimson....how the hell does he know someone like me....stalker" she muttered to herself. She just awaited for him to at least say something like 'party' or anything else that involves alot of fun. She hoped it would be a party.

Crimson smiled, "well, its actually pretty easy, I know a lot of important ponies, and have a lot of connections, so I just got information on asx many ponies as I could a sorted them out to only the ones I've approved were left, and that small group is all of you, any other questions?" Asked crimson.

Crimson's tone of voice made Inks feel uncomfortable. He wrinkled his nose so his glasses would be back near the top of his nose. "Uh, um, no Captain Crimson." He tipped his hat towards the stallion in a show of class. His mane fell in front of his face and he blew it back to where it was originally. He ave a sheepish smile to the captain.

sole was once again bored as she left, but he was happy that he might see her again. "Stone huh..." But he quickly realized something "wait... I never told her my name!" Inks' ears twitched at the sound of the cocky tone. He absolutely hated anyone who was cocky/egotistical. He was going to avoid this griffon as much as he could. Inks turned around to go back to his room when he saw another mare. He tipped his hat as he brushed past her. He continued off into the room he had claimed and continued unpacking.

sole sighed as she left and facepalmed "man... I'm an idiot... I think I just creeped her out." He said in disappointment, before flying to the top of the ships mast and laying down up there "this day just keeps getting better and better..." he said sarcastically, as he tried to fall asleep.

Appy could hear the sound of many voices outside her room. Dare she venture out? She heard Crimson's voice and the mention of the word Captain. I really should head out and thank him for the invite. She decided.

 

She grabbed her quill and a scroll stuffing them into her pocket and quietly opened the door, tip toeing up the stairs but still making a "clippity clip" sound with her hooves.

 

Carefully approaching Crimson from behind she said a soft.

 

"Hi"

Whirl Wake took a deep breath after taking in all of the conversing ponies' dialogue.. "I guess that makes sense." He looked to around. "So, are there designated places for us to stay, or can we just pick a room?" He had a killer urge to fly around, especially after having his wings blocked for the entire day.

"Dear Captain Crimson.

 

Thank  you so much for inviting me onto this cruise. I hope I can help in any way possible with the hearts and Hooves day celebrations. I'm honored that you would think of me on this occasion and thank you for agreeing to keep my secret identity.

She slipped the scroll into his sword sheath and then glanced around for a place to look inconspicuous.  

 

 

 

Star awoke to a commotion and muffled voices from the deck. She headed up, seeing that she had slept for an hour or so. Most, if not all, of the guests had arrived. She went to the edge of the ship and peered at the water below, wondering how many hours it was until sundown.

 

Oooh that mare looks nice and quiet. Appy wandered over and said

 

"Hi!"

Inks sat alone in his room. A twisted expression grew on his face. "I should go do something." He had been talking to himself, and he got up from his bed and walked over to the door. He was hesitant to open it, but he pushed it open reluctantly. He would just walk around the boat and enjoy the view. He trotted up the stairs and began to walk around the ship. He saw the mare he had seen earlier talking with another mare. He wouldn't directly talk to them, but he wanted to go where they were. It was a nice view. He trotted over to that side of the boat, but stayed a fairly good ways away from them. If they talked to him he would respond with no hesitation. But he wasn't going to be the one to talk first.

Crimson noticed the letter in his sword sheath and removed it, before unrolling it and reading, after he was finished, he looked over at appy with a smile, "your welcome, I wanted to invite as many interesting ponies as I could to this party, so far it looks like almost everyones here, except for two old freinds of mine, and I think youll find one of them to be very familiar..." said crimson with a chuckle.

Since everypony else seemed to be distracted by the captain, Emerald took the chance to slip away. She would be more than willing to socialize, but if these were really hoof-picked guests from around Equestria she would rather get to know something about them before diving into conversation.

 

Instead, she stepped along one of the halls and made her way in the direction she had been heading with Whirl Wake until she eventually found another way back up onto the deck, where she hoped it would be a little quieter.

@@Ampharos, Appy noticed the purple unicorn stallion she'd literally brushed shoulders with earlier. being a friendly mare, she gave him  way and said ...

 

"Hi"

 

Oh I so wish i could say more than just hi. She thought to herself. She considered about taking out her scroll and writing something down, but paused. Somepony will just think I'm wierd. Hmmm. what advice would I give myself if i was writing into Dear Appy... I know! I'd say just be yourself and smile.

 

She smiled somewhat shyly at the purple unicorn.

Inks looked over at the mare. She was a cute little thing. He wanted to say something to her, wanted to strike a conversation with her. But all he could manage was,

 

"Hi."

 

Inks returned the shy smile with a nervous smile of his own. He thought about walking over and talking to her, but he just awkwardly looked away. He began debating whether or not he should go over and talk to her.

Appy gazed at the unicorn. "Wow He talks just like me!" She thought to herself. " I wonder if he has social anxieties like I do... Oh I don't know what to say... so much easier to just WRITE to people than talk tot hem face to face. "

 

A string of thoughts raced through her mind.

 

I know! I'll just walk up to him and say "Hi I'm Appeline from appaloosa. So nice to meet you, I'm glad we are going on the cruise, the water looks so pretty. would you like to take a walk along the deck with me? We could check out the birds flying on the other side of the boat or admire the dolphins that are swimming below."

 

she had it all planned out... she knew just what to say and do. She trotted boldly up to the unicorn and said....

 

"Hi"

Inks was quite surprised to see the mare walk up to him. She seemed overly-shy, if that was even a thing. He gave a quick smile when he heard her words.  "Hi." Inks was quite content on leaving it at that but he knew he should say something else. "Um, I'm Inks. Do you uh... mind telling me your name." Inks realized he didn't have his hat on. He wore it so much that when people who knew him saw him without it, they thought he looked different. Inks felt odd without his hat. He didn't like not wearing it.

"Appeline" She answered. Then gazed out at the water for a moment deep in thought.

 

Oh nice move Appy, Really went according to play didn't it. Ooooooh I so need to improve my communication skills. maybe I still have time to escape before this ship sets sail...  No No I can't do that. The captain invited me because Im an expert on matters of the heart and this is a hearts and hooves day celebration. I guess he didn't realize that I can't talk to other ponies face to face.

 

Appy shifted uncomfortably from hoof to hoof for a moment.

Inks noted that Appy was still nervous. He backed away slightly so she wouldn't feel that way. At least as much. "Appeline... I like that. I mean um, I... it's nice to meet you Appeline." Why did that name seem slightly familiar? Well at least part of it sounded familiar. Her name sounded like Appy, a pony who's writing he marveled. Being interested in writing, Inks made himself knowledgeable of several amazing writers in Equestria, and Dear Appy was somepony who he had taken a special affinity to.

"Appeline... I like that. I mean um, I... it's nice to meet you Appeline."

 

"Thanks!" She said. She pulled her cloak around her. It was a little chilly out on the deck. She wondered when this cruise would finally get started. Inks seemed like a nice pony. The type of pony would often write into her for advice. Nah. It couldn't be. What were the chances of running into one of her clients on this trip. She brushed her aqua mane out of her eyes.

 

She really wanted to say... "it was lovely meeting you, I really should go and unpack and get settled down in the mares room. i do hope we meet again. I really like the color of your coat."

 

But all she could manage to say was....

 

"Bye" and headed off towards the stairs. She decided she would check her mail bag, which she'd brought with her, and write out some replies. Derpy Hooves had promised to visit the ship regularly and pick up her answers to deliver to the newspapers.

sole awoke to the sound of someone walking on deck. With a sigh, he looked down to see emerald walking on deck. Out of boredom and curiosity, he flew down and landed beside her "hey, I'm guessing your also on this boring little cruise?" He asked "yeah, it got boring fast..." he said with a shrug.

@@Mikestar, ((Just a side note: Inks has never asked Appy anything. He just likes her writing.))

 

 "Hey um..." Inks wanted to ask hr if she wanted to hang out some time. He wanted to see if she wanted to get something to eat later. Maybe take a walk with him. "...Bye," he said reluctantly. He turned away and sighed. The mares he had seen today were all beautiful, but Appeline was very similar to him. If things didn't get serious, he would like to at least be friends with her.

Appy stopped in her hoof prints and spun around expectantly. She smiled at Inks kindly, then she spotted a griffon on deck talking to a lovely green pony.

 

Ooooh that's so scary.... She thought to herself. She crouched down cringed a little. She hadn't been aware that non ponies would be on board.
