NLR Movie.

Hey everypony, wasup?. Anyway, I've had a small idea, and I'd love to hear what people think, and if they want to see me do this. The idea I had was to make a 3d movie/series thing, based on the New Lunar Republic, depicting the rise of the republic, the wars and the eventual win\loss. Please comment suggestions and ideas, and if you want to see this done.

Cheers ponies. :)

Truthfully, I'm against. I'd like the writers to be focusing more on FiM than another movie. Also, I'm not a fan of these fanon "armies" like the New Lunar Republic and the Solar Empire.

I'm all for this idea (oh yeah, NLR for the fudging win :D)

As for ideas, I would go with it depicting the time during Princess Luna's transition to Nightmare Moon and during her reign as NMM, that would be interesting to see in a MLP Movie :3

Thank you Nas for the sig :3

Sounds interestin', though tricky. In my humble and inexperienced opinion, I would do it in a kind of interview style. If you've ever read Z-day (if not you should, because the movie doesn't do it justice), that's what I'm talkin' about. A sort of after-action report style of things, and then panning into whatever they were talkin' about from their perspective. It'd be interestin' if you do this as a series 'cause you could have two different episodes coverin' the same event from different perspectives if two 'r more characters were there at the same time. You could cover the early beginnings and then work into the near end and play it off from there as current events.

*Ahem* 'course, these are all just suggestions. Ambitious, not thoroughly thought out suggestions. Anyway, I support the idea, whichever direction you take it.

Thanks for the input guys, I want to start writing soon...hopefully. :P

@nova, I'll be making the movie, and that's cool If you're against it.

Also, would you want to see this take place with medieval tech/weaponry, or modern?

Tough one. I'd have to say medieval tech would be the more interestin' option. Modern tech looks more fun, but the medieval tech seems more appropriate to the setting. Just my opinion.

Oh, I misread it. .-.

And also, most likely medieval, I believe it seems more fitting with Ponyville and Equestria. (everything else seems low-tech)

Yeah it does seem to be the more fitting of the two, medieval it is.

I've also been thinking of a possible stoey sequence.

1. After twi's coronation, Luna is starting to feel a little jealous of how her sister is treating twilight like she's better than her.

2. The time where we get some major feels for Luna (no idea how to do this, maybe we see what celestia is really like behind the scenes. *ominous laugh*

3. Lunas pissed, holds secret meetings with members of society and some royal guards.

4. War is declared.

5.after seeing how tia is treating the troops and stuff, twilight and mane 6 defect to luna.

6. Epic battle episodes.

7.final fight.

8.win loss. (Haven't decided yet.)

Hmmm. How about not makin' Tia a complete tyrant. Give a bit of credit to both sides. Maybe Luna disagrees with the idea of monarchy (that's not the right word, but I forgot what the right word is) and they have an argument about it. It pushes Luna to pursue outside help in order to force the change she wants. Just a thought.

Medieval will work better than high-tech setting. It fits Equestria's time line perfectly and it's not... well, say, made for the sake of coolness. You know, explosions, laser, bang-bang-bang battle style. There's not as much thrill and tactical possibilities in it. When you play with swords and shields, there are more tactics, twists, and true coolness you can take.

Seriously, I would prefer ponies in 2D instead of 3D. They always look weird as 3D models, but if 2D animating isn't in your skills set, go with the 3D one.

Yeah, I would much prefer to do that, but I can't think of a decent incentive for twilight and the mane six to defect to Luna's cause.

Well, why should they? It'd be more interestin' if this issue actually split them up. Having only half or so of the Elements defectin' would create some major conflict. Friends torn apart by war and idealism, forced to choose sides and face down those they once cared for. There's a reason it's a popular form of conflict and tension.

Yeah, now that I think about it, medieval settings would definantly fit a lot better. And yeah, 3d moddeling/animating is more my skill set, but if there are any 2d animators reading this please speak up! :P

Damn, I didn't think of that...you have to consider how close they are, I think theyd all be with celestia, or all with luna. I don't think theyd ever split apart.

If you recognize me, there's a good thing that you will find.

By the way, won't it better to follow the original fan fiction to make this movie?

Well, consider the conflict. If you follow my suggestion and it's a liberal republic versus a conservative monarchy (as an example) Twilight would without a doubt stand with Celestia. Rarity might be more inclined toward Celestia's side in order to keep the status quo, Applejack might be more inclined to Luna out of consideration for others. This leaves Rainbow Dash, Pinkie and Fluttershy. Rainbow Dash could be completely torn by the issue, and have that hanging over her head. Fluttershy seems like a strict pacifist unless pressed, so she could be trying to find a more peaceful solution. Pinkie would be unsure what to do and possibly have a mental breakdown again. With all that in mind, the lines would be drawn as two with Celestia, one with Luna and three in pursuit of their own interests. This is just one way it could go, and is really just something I thought up of on the spot.

I agree with this. Rather than simply having it as Tia being a terrible person, throw something a little more unique. We've all heard the 'Tyrant Celestia' story, so it'd be much more entertaining if the story was more in-depth. Something more political, like disagreeing with how to run Equestria would be much more suitable. This way, you could have the place really divide. If Celestia was really just a tyrant, and Luna showed the ponies a better way of living, than there'd only really be a battle between Celestia and everyone else, as, logically, the ponies would go for the better lifestyle.

Medieval settings(or the current show, with a mainly medieval setting but with some interesting Steampunkish tech(Flim&Flam's machine, blimps, etc) sound best suited for this series. However, I think that, as an armed force, unicorns would play a large part in the strength of the military, so it'd be interesting to delve into that aspect.

What kind of tech would they create, to harness the full potential of magic-users? Would this spark an industrial and technological boom that may play a part in the war, and possibly the future of Equestria itself?

It'd also be interesting to see an aspect involving Zebras, Buffalo and Gryphons. Would we see more of them, taking part in the battle for power? Maybe they desire neither Goddess to rule, acting as double agents, in a plot to take down both sides. Maybe they just want to get the heck outta Dodge, and want nothing to do with the war. Does this situation impact on their homes and citizens?

Finally, regarding the Mane 6 and co.

How will they react to the situation? Maybe certain members prefer one rule over another. Applejack may prefer Celestia: keeping things simple and as they were. No need to change what isn't broken. Rarity, however may be more inclined to favour Luna. A new, more balanced method of reaching the top of the social ladder. No thickly bordered classes, restricting certain ponies to certain lifestyles. Giving all ponies an equal opportunity to be where they want to be, doing what they want to do.

What about Shining Armour? As part of the Royal Guard, he may be forced by his honour to stay with Celestia, regardless of his true feelings. Will this impact his relationship with Cadence? With Twilight? If times become dire and he is confronted with an opposing pony; does he have the will to strike them down in the name of his loyalty? Even if it's one of Twilight's friends? Even if it is Twilight?

Could Twilight do the same if confronted by one of her friends?

There's so much room for all these variables and arcs. xD

By celestia I have some decisions to make when writing thus...

I'm more inclined towards having the mane six together throughout, but if it makes for a better story then I can split them.

And I like the idea of differences between ideas of how it should be ruled, but if I go by the original story, Luna is oppresed.

It's all your creation, friend. I'm just suggestin' a few ideas to get your own juices flowin'. As long as you're proud of it, it'll be fine.

Yeah, and your ideas are great, I just have a lot to consider if I'm to make this whole thing into a series, plus I think people will be upset if the mane six split.

Maybe they will, maybe they won't. It's all in the presentation. Don't split them because reasons. Give 'em reasonin' that fits in with their separate personalities. If you keep 'em together, you still have to do the same thing. Especially since you want them all to side with Luna.

Alright. 'S your decision. Now you just need motive and a reason for the conflict you've decided on. You given any thought to that?
