Ink Drop was close by, he just recently gained some distance with the group and he could easily heard that tension was rising up, he came closer and saw that Stephan and Steel was in a constant argument over somepony they've lost. He tried to ignore them, pretending not to care at all -- actually he does, he knew the feeling all to well -- and he did just that since something, beyond the rocks and hills and the mountain itself. Something was lurking, not a Hajoon; he'd knew how a Hajoon would sound and he just hung up all of the parasprite dummies he had along the way.

"Wait..." he said as he stopped walking, "you hear that...?" Ink Drop attempted to point the group to one faint sound which was really hard to notice. 

 

((Not a snake, nothing too dangerous, just an alternate walk path.))

Stephan looked up. "Heard what?" Stephan asked. He noticed an alternate path Ink Drop was pointing out. "I don't know, Ink Drop. We should probably just keep moving down our path. If we take a different one, we could risk getting lost." Stephan mentioned.

Steel sat in the tree" yea, unless it get close dont worry about it let them cry it out" steel said coldly as he came out of the tree " I'm going to check ahead and make sure thee is nothing to stop us when we do get moving"steel said as he took off up the mountain

((Ink wasn't pointing out an alternate path, Ink was trying to point out one sound that might lead to another path.))

Ink Drop smirked after hearing the word 'lost' from Stephan, he then asked him back, "And now we're not lost...? Hmm? You know I've been here once. And I never thought that I will come back here" Ink Drop continued yet again on trying to determine what the sound was.

"Underground steam pocket..." he muttered, "only one explanation, lava flow... must be flowing around in veins all around this place. And steam... steam... steam... there must be... WATER!" he jumped directly to a conclusion, "Pockets of water lying around behind these rocks, water." he opened up his satchel and ransacked it trying to find two particular object, a cork and a nail.

After he found the two things he needed, he ran up to a rock wall, he knocked around the wall while he was sticking his ear; he might be trying one weak spot that is filled with water, "C'mon, where are you." He kept on knocking like crazy around the wall until he hit one spot, he knocked several times just to make sure. The joy of founding something, he could not help but said with a loud voice, "Aha! Ionized fresh mountain water, good for drinking and prefect for making a compass." Unfortunately, he did not have the tool to make a small crack on the surface of the wall, "Anypony got something hard enough to make a crack?"

"And which way is the shrine again? North, south, west, east, north west... what?" he added, just to make sure that they weren't actually 'lost'.

 

((No map, no compass, how could the group know the direction to the shrine?))

Steel heard inkdrop yell water so he turned back he got back in time to hear inkdrop ask for something that could crack rock "my dagger should be hrard enough it was made to cut thru plate armor so it should work" step said while handing inkdrop the dagger he carried with his left hoof the right one would only cause problems if someone else touched it

Grand looked at the dagger still lodged in starbursts head. She cringed and hobbled over, grabbing it. She closed her eyes as she pulled it out. "This'll have to do" she said, stopping a dry heave. She washed it off in the puddle as best she could before handing it to ink drop.

"It's mah fault too. Maybe if I hadn't distracted y'all, you'd have known that they were comin' In this world, you'd think I'd be used to death, but even of somepony I've never met..." He stops dead. He looks at the body. "Ashes we were, and ashes we become, let this soul walk in peace up above...... If'n you'd like a better place t' stay for a while, mah home is just over the ridge." He said as he turned tail. "This is no ones fault, none a y'all go blamin' yerselves."

Being handed two daggers at the same time, Ink Drop took the one that Steel was handing out. He inspected it first, "Titanium alloy layered, isn't it...? Brilliant." Titanium, a strong enough metal to crack the rock, he gave some elbow grease to it and jabbed at the rock two times then a crack soon form; squirting out water, Ink Drop quickly took out a cup that he had inside his satchel. "Okay, I just need a little, go on ahead and fill up your water reserve." he said after taking up several milliliters of water to a cup simultaneously he returned the dagger that he took from Steel, he went out to an open area where the light was at maximum thus enabled him to work with ease. "Cork, and nail, placed carefully up top... And there you have it, an improvised compass..." he mentioned as his eyes was closely observing the direction of the nail. "Now, where do we want to go? Judging from the sun and moss on that tree right over there, we are heading... west." The nail steadied and pointed what seemed to be north; away from the current direction of the path.

Steel took the dagger " yea how did you know that" steel asked as he filled his jug with water an then drank from the rock by letting the water fall into his mouth.

Stephan gave out a slight "heh." "What do you know? Guess luck is on our side." He took out a canteen and filled it up with water. He put it back in his satchel and left the others to refill.

 He walked over to Grand and gave her a canteen. "Just to save you the trouble, Grand." He said.

"thanks" she said distractedly. She hoped fire and Missy were alright. She decided to rest again while she still could. She took a sip of the water before falling asleep. Her nightmares were terrible. Her sister, Josh, and Starbursts bodies lay in front of her. They began to reanimate, but Grand couldnt put them out of their misery. their voices taunted her. "Why did you do this to us? we trusted you. We believed in you, Grand, you betrayed us" Their inhuman voices cried out. Grand tried to run away but she couldnt. They reached for her. Grand screamed in her dream, though in real life she seemed only a little restless.

Stephan lied next to Grand and whispered in a soft tone. "It'll be okay, Grand. Don't worry. You're a big essential to this group. You just don't know it..." He whispered in her ear, making sure he didn't wake her up in the process. He went back to get some water for himself.

 He got some water from the giant rock and put it in a few plastic cups. "Are you sure this water is safe, Ink?" He asked. "I mean, it looks clean, but... you never know..."

(gawd, this nightmares making my creative juices flow)

Stephans voice echoed through her head, but the nightmare twisted it, turning it into a deformed version of what he had said

"You dont know how big of an essential failure you are" The voice screamed. suddenly Fire, Ink, Missy, Stephan,Steel and Zeta appeared, watching as she was attacked by her deceased family. Her screams meant nothing to them. They watched as she squirmed helplessly under their jaws. The living family members morphed into revolting creatures. "you could have helped them Grand, but you didnt. Your WEAK"

(this is what I get for reading Franz Kafka in school and Divergent in my spare time. just ignore, this is just for the fun of writing creepy shtuff. ITS VERY KAFKAESQUE. google it)

"Lucky guess? I guess..." he said while still overlooking the surrounding nature, "Nah, actually I was just joking... it's easy to spot, limestone there and the smell of sulfur carried by the air, awful lot of humidity in the air as well... and that thick vegetation around that seemingly barren and infertile rock right there, all of those indication speaks water." Ink Drop replied to the same question that begged for two answers.

And he gave the second answer regarding the direction they were heading, "Sun is setting at the direction that we are facing and that patch of moss on that tree right there, so there you go... west."

"Oh yes, definitely, my dear friend." Ink Drop put his hoof around Stephan and explained furthermore by facing at the crack he just made and still expelling fresh water, "Yet it may contain some minerals, but they are harmless to our bodies, I don't know about human but the minerals are mostly salt, Sodium Chloride and Zinc, and most of all,  heated up with lava which is almost two hundred degrees Celsius, kills any bacteria..." Ink Drop cut in the middle because the need of air and continued, "they are fresh mountain water, in deed."

Noticing Grand went back to sleep and Stephan beside her, he walked away from the group unto a nearby tree and slept behind it. He still thought about Starlight, and how he failed to protect him, which made him a little sad.

They were now down one unicorn, but up another which didn't help either. Zeta didn't even know if the guy with the musket was on their side or not, and hopefully he didn't try to kill any of the other unicorns, like Grand..

Grand..

She was one to worry about now, since 8 years ago when Paint had started to act different it nearly killed her. But why did he care about her so much now? Maybe it was because she was a girl, or..

But he couldn't find out a thing whatsoever, and put his face in between both arms to fall asleep.

It's just, I fear of everything now, as if nopony will ever come back..

"Oh! Well that's goo-wait... salt and sodium?" Stephan asked. "Ink, that's bad for humans. If humans drink salty water, such as water from the sea, it just dehydrates us even more. I need fresh water that's pure. Water with no salt, sodium, or Zinc." Stephan said, dumping out the water he was going to save for himself.

"I meant about my dagger how did you know what it was made of" steel said as he went back for drink fro the rock preferring to save his jug for when he needed it " you can boil it can't you wont that take care of te problem" steel asked e sat for a few min and spoke again "hey guys I know I don't show it but you guys are like my family now, I just can't express my emotions because of how I was raised ok" steel said while looking at the group

"I said, it is harmless, you drink salt water you are definitely dead, the minerals in the water only have..." Ink Drop stopped and started to crunch up some numbers, "oh point two molars for each minerals, or the English version, if you don't understand that, one grain of mineral in the size of a sand; Sodium Chloride all together and Zinc, per cup, and the water, or any water that is for drinking has those minerals, helps the metabolism."

 

((You drink Ag⁺ with NaCl, you won't die, even they sold those types of water. That's why it's called ionized water. If you want pure water you might as well drink up a distillate pure water used for chemistry or aquadest for short. And here's a fun fact, you can even drink up gold from water streams.))

Stephan was pretty much lost. He couldn't understand Ink's scientific mumbo-jumbo. "Well, if you think it's safe to drink... down the hatch, I guess." He gulped down some of the water and waited for the salty taste. To his surprise, he hardly tasted any salt. "Huh. Not bad. I guess you were right, Ink."

"you guys wouldn't happen to have a stiff drink would you" steel asked as he cleaned the blood if of himself "because I could use one and I'm pretty sure firehorn and Missy could use one I remember befor this mess happened I would go to a rat hole known as the devils pub they had the strongest drinks in canterlot and the worst thugs criminals" steel said thoughtfully

Ink Drop said with a smug expression appearing across his face and giving one wide grin, he'd always gets some entertainment on seeing anyone that started to get puzzled every time he gave one hell of a scientific explanation. After he savored the time, he filled up his canteen as well as re-hydrating the herbs inside his herb bottle.

Stephan shrugged and filled up the rest of his canteen. He put it back in his knapsack and got out bag of trail mix with dried fruits and nuts.

Grand awoke with a start. So much for a peaceful sleep. She had a sick feeling in her gut as she got to her hooves, drinking some water to help clear her mind. She rubbed her head. "It seems my mind has a bit of a darker side" she mumbled to herself before hopping over to where the others were. She avoided looking at starburst.

Stephan was munching on his trail mix when he saw Grand walk up to him and the guys. "Did you sleep well? You looked like you were having a nightmare." He asked with concern. "I guess I'm not too surprised. I bet we've all constantly been having nightmares since, y'know, we currently live in one."

"Okay, here's a littl bit of fun fact, don't over-think it though just something to warm up those neural synapses." Ink Drop said as he closed up both his canteen and his herb bottle, "If you wake up, are you actually awake? Or you just woken up inside another dream. Puzzles of the mind, ambiguity"

Ink Drop then faced Grand after he put in his herb bottle but kept on holding his canteen, "Your mind is in the state of a feud, you need to put it to rest; all of it, don't think too much and don't be too hard on yourself... I've noticed that you are still blaming yourself for the bad things you've done, put that aside... all of it." Ink Drop then walked pass Grand and when he was at her side, he whispered to her ears, "You're a good mare, and that counts more than anything." then continued walking.
