"I know how you feel, Fire." Stephan told him. "I never got to say goodbye to Light Streak. But here's what I think; I always think that he's in a different place. A place where he's happy and away from all of this. And, somehow, he's watching me from above, rooting for me on our quest." He put his hand on Fire's shoulder. "Try thinking of it that way."

Grand smiled. "We'll, what do you want to know?" She said, organizing her saddlebags. " I'm an open book, ask me anything" she put her saddlebag back and sat down next to missy, checking her wing every now and again. It was already beginning to heal

"Well, since you're a stage performer, i'm assuming you like seeing them too, did you ever see a play in Prance? It's a really marvellous city." Missy asked.

"Thank you Stephan, being the leader of this group is getting to me, all i want right now is a really strong drink." Fire Horn said.

"Well, unfortunately for you, I don't have any of that kind of stuff. I said before that drinking that junk would be the last thing I do." He said. "But, I'm sure that once we return things to normal, you'll be able to have all of the cider you want." Stephan assured him.

Puns) " actually, I was just finishing an audition when the outbreak hit ponyville" she said, the tiniest bit of pain inherent voice. " I always dreamed if going to prance though, it so stunning"

"I'm sorry, it's just... i feel like i'm in control when i drink, even though it caused something terrible to happen, it would never have happened had i been sober." Fire Horn said. "It happened during our eght-year gap, if you want to hear it, there may be some crying involved."

"Well, after we fix this, me and you will visit Prance." Missy said. "I doubt society will return to normal for quite some time."

Stephan tried to cheer Fire up. "Don't worry about it now, Fire. It happened. We're still going to push through no matter what. We're so close, too. We won't let one mishap get in the way, not when we're this close to saving Equestria." He said. "And, besides, your son will be watching us."

"Where else have you been? I never had much time for travel as my parents were often gone and my sister would be left with me." She said. " I alway dreamed of prance. All of those classic countries really" she said dreamily. "To perform there would be a dream, though performing at all would be a dream in these times"

"One time, Twilight took me to the Griffon Kingdom, she was sent on business, but i pestered her to take me along as a royal assistant, it was a beautiful place, the palaces were beautiful, anyway, it was my first long amount of time away from Fire Horn, i was lonely, even when i was with Twilight i couldn't stop thinking about him, so one night, Twilight asked me why i seemed so, out of it, i told her that, that i loved him, so she made sure he was there when we got back and she made me tell him, nervously of course. That i really did love him." Missy smiled, she then coughed. "Anyway, enough about me, didn't you have a special somepony?"

Grand blushed. " oh no, I didn't have time for that sort of thing. I was far too busy with taking care of my sister and working at the local theatre, it would have just been a distraction" she said, faltering a bit. "I suppose you could say I was married to my work. It was my passion" she scratched the back of her head nervously

Stephan looked at Missy and Grand talking and he sighed. "Can I be honest, Fire?" He asked. "It may be weird for a human to like a pony, but... I really want to tell Grand how I feel about her. She's so sweet and caring, and I want to be with her once this is all done. I am pretty much a half human, half pony anyways."

"I don't know, Grand, i mean, don't take this the wrong way, but you are very attractive, and i don't even swing that way, you don't exactly need to try to get somepony to fall in love with you." Missy said.

"It may be a bad time, right now, especially since you're a human, look buddy, i know Grand probably felt something towards you, but that was pony-you, i know you love her, but Stephan isn't getting anywhere with her as a human."

"Well, I plan on changing back into a pony once this is all done." Stephan said. "I want to continue my adventures in Equestria after this is done. But, before doing any of that, I'm going to send out this," He showed Fire the letter that he wrote to his dad back at the rainforest. "I'm going to ask Celestia and Luna to send this off to Earth if they can. I at least want father to know I'm okay."

Grand blushed even more. "Well, thank you for the compliment but this group really need to focus on that cure before anything else" she said, looking around the cave. "Now where in equestria did that steel go?" She said, looking into the depths of the cave. "Perhaps we should go find him before anything happens"

"I don't think i should go looking for Steel, considering the facts and what he's done to me, i don't even want to speak to him." Missy said, losing her cheerful vigor.

"Stephan, i think we should go after Steel before gets himself and all of us into more trouble, follow me." Fire said before walking deeper into the cave.

"Alright then, I'll stay here with you. The boys can go off on an adventure. So, I never asked, what else did you find in the other cave? The three of you were gone for quite a while" she said, sitting back down next to her. She was starting to get tired so she unstrapped the leg and put it aside

"It was a sacred meeting room for the humans, also, it might have been the source of the plague as we know it, the plague infected them and they all died, but some still had it, and once they cracked open the tomb, it was goodbye ponies, the worst happened here, transforming some creatures into mutants." Missy explained. "Of course these are stories, i don't know for sure."

"Hopefully this one doesn't have bleak, lifeless stone walls that go on for and eternity and a half." Stephan walked beside Fire Horn and the duo emerged deeper into the cave. The human pulled out his flashlight and shined it in the path they were walking.

Hearth had progressed through the rainforest, but felt like something was wrong. He'd taken a 100% left detour, things were still hot, but now they were getting dry. He saw something bright orange. He almost fell into a pit of the orange stuff. "Aww shit!" He shouted. The residual echo attracted the attention of something. He looked around, and saw something huge lumbering towards him. He thought deeply.

 

'Magma Goliaths live in only the hottest parts of the world.'

 

Without another word he drew his rifle and shot taking out one of its crystallized eyes. He ran the other way and began to reload. A chase ensued.

" how awful" she said, settling in to her spot. " how much longer do you think it'll take before we get to the shrine? It feels like we've been here for ages" she said tiredly. A rumble surged through the ground again. "This volcano refuses to stop doesn't it? At least it's nice and toasty in here"

"Yeah? Well there's a reason they call this place the "Gateway to Hell"." Fire Horn said. "There are creatures like Magma Golems and the infamous Demon Shark, it swims through the magma."

"We keep heading North, until we find the shrine. Look, i know Fire wants to be killed if i die, but don't let that happen, if this is fixed but i don't live to see the new equestria, please take care of him." Missy said, sadness clear in her voice.

Grand smiled and nodded. "Of course, though we won't let you die either. Don't go thinking that this us the end for you because it isn't" she said sternly. " we are all going to make it out if this, I know it. I'll do whatever it takes to keep us all alive. I'm sure the rest if the group feels the same way"

"Magma golems? That sounds awesome!" Stephan said. "But, I'm a little done with all of this volcano business, considering I shot myself out of one before we got stuck in here." He admitted. He was about done with this whole island all together. He loved adventure and high-stakes, but he just needed some room to breath.
