"I don't think it's a good idea to dump the water, we need that." Fire Horn said. "Don't worry, we'll be leaving in about 10 minutes." Fire Horn started searching through his saddlebag for food, but there was nothing there.

Hearthsong looked at the water. He was self sufficient and prideful. 'I have my own water.' He thought to himself. He notice a small dried out tree nearby. He walked towards it, pushing his hooves through the dry running sand. He got to it and instead of sitting down, he leaned on it and looked toward the horizon.

Stephan drank some of the water. "Yeah, we should use this sparingly. Once it's gone, that's it." He said. Stephan looked through his knapsack and he didn't find much in the ways of food. "All I have is my spare trail mix. Take it or leave it, I guess." He said, placing a few bags on the ground.

Steel sat and cried and answered grand "I'm not alright" steel said in between sobs while still choking the letter "he's had her for ten years and it's killing me" steel went back to crying h didn't touch his water he wasn't in te mood to eat or drink he missed her to much

Grand sat quietly. "I'm terribly sorry for your loss. We all need to feel sad sometimes" she said in a warm tone. "Just let us help you, we have all been through something similar" she said, trying to comfort him. "Please drink something, it's been all day and you haven't had any water. You'll get dehydrated if you don't"

At night, Zeta took a deep breath and drank down some more water. He used his armor to both keep him warm and cool, putting it on when he lied down. While doing so, he examined Grand and Steel talking about something, and seeing him cry meant he had some problem of some sort.

But since Grand was good at this stuff, Zeta decided to leave it alone and wait for it to finish.

 

This is going to be a very cold night. I just hope everypony will make it through this..

Stephan sat down with Zeta and drank his last bit of water. He planned to save the rest for the group. He put a bag of trail mix next to Zeta, offering him some. He then looked up into the sky, seeing Earth once again. "If only we knew what we were all in for." Stephan muttered.

Zeta looked back to Stephan with a curious face, at the same time finishing his last bit of water and poured some trail mix into the cup. "Pretty much. I expect a bunch of traps, trotters, and maybe even have to face some ancient beast that can live forever unless you cut off its head. Besides, they really want to guard whatever was in there for a time like this so i'd expect something powerful."

"But it doesn't make sense." He said. "If they produced a shrine that could cure the entire plague, why would they seal it away on the complete other end of the island? And, on that note, why would they bother guarding it?" He asked Zeta. "They could've easily taken the cure and fixed the entire plague themselves."

"There may have been another group which intended to use the cure for something evil, or something like that. Maybe cure everybody that was infected then made them believe that the person was their savior so they followed him and eventually took over.

It was an interesting question to ask, knowing that whatever answer it may be that they would never fully know unless there was some note that said it.

Hearth was always used to this kind of situation. He was leaning against the tree and waiting for the rest of the team to finish conversing. It reminded him of his days in the Royal Forces. He would scout, while the rest of the team screwed around. Though he had to cut this group some slack, so much was happening.

"I know we all care about her, some more then others but yes I have been noticing that things have been acting different with her lately. I don't want to say that Grand is going crazy, because I know she isn't. It's almost like something is controlling her mind, trying to make her snap so it can do what it wants to her body.."

He paused, making sure Stephan heard everything before continuing on. "I know I vowed to protect her, but even so this is something she has to deal with alone. Because it's her mind, and whatever is going on in there, it's her job to fight it."

"I know we all want to help out eachothers problems, but sometimes we just have to let it naturally fade away, like how a nobody does..."

Hearth saw a large lizard. It was stalking a small butterfly perched on a bush. He looked at it. He then slipped on his muzzle cap. He loaded the powder down the gullet of the rifle, and dropped the ball in after. He pushed it down with a loading wire. Hearth cocked back the hammer, took aim, and then fired. His shot was silent. It smashed the lizard just as it was about to reach the butterfly. This was when he realized he was 900 meters out.

Hearth took a puff off of a cigar. Vigils were always boring, so he had to do things to pass the time without taking his attention. He'd polish his gun, sharpen the bayonet, or any other type of time consuming activity. He eventually pulled out his violin, Justice, and began to play again. He sighed, back to his thoughts.

After finishing his trail mix, he got up as well and walked to Grand who was across from him. Once there he sat down and cocked his head to the side. "Hey Grand, I assume everything is going well. Any weather difference so far? I've heard at night it can get chilly, but this armor is really good at blocking out heat or cold so I cant tell."

"Well, comparing the blizzard, volcano eruption, and desert weather I've gone through in the last week,this is quite mild" she said with a slight laugh. "It's actually quite refreshing after walking in that gruelling heat all day" she said, laying down in the cool sand. "I'm glad we stopped for a break though"

 

"Because your a weak ol thing?"

Hearth spit out his cigar. He dropped his violin. "Damn everything t' the sky. Flamin' blighter." He says to himself a little disgruntled. Without realizing it, he'd taken some drinks of scotch. He always had one alcohol or another. He put it away and regained his wits. He tipped his hat over his eyes, chewed some wheat grass, and held his rifle.
