"Well, comparing the blizzard, volcano eruption, and desert weather I've gone through in the last week,this is quite mild" she said with a slight laugh. "It's actually quite refreshing after walking in that gruelling heat all day" she said, laying down in the cool sand. "I'm glad we stopped for a break though"

 

"Because your a weak ol thing?"

 

Grand rolled her eyes

"Yeah, i'm glad too. Seeing we made a lot of progress trekking through a desert, and the fact that you did about half of it on three legs is surprising."

He took off his armor and saddlebag once again, setting it somewhere off and laid down in front of Grand. The weather was indeed cool, much better then any of the other ones they've been in and getting some rest after a long day would be needed.

"Hey Grand, I know we haven't gotten too much chance to talk yet, but i'm curious to ask. What did you do in the 8 years that we've been separated?"

"Let me think... Well, the durst few months were awful. I was in a fit if depression and rarely left my room. Once I started getting low on supplies, I began to perform for bits. At first it was just a way to get money, but after awhile I began to fall in love with performing again. It was very lonely though. Once I got out of my depression phase, I regretting leaving everyone. Performing and conversing with the crowd was nice, but they would always leave after the performance. The day I vowed to find everyone again, was oddly enough the day we Found each other" she said, recalling that part if her life. She was a little less bonkers then, surprisingly

Steel composed himself and pulled out the obsidian daggers that firehorn made and began sharpining them with his special sharpening stone and then polished them befor placing them into the hilts he had made while firehorn made the blades "I will find and kill him and I will save moonbeam"stel said to himself anger and hatred evedent in his face

"Wow, so you've had somewhat of a tough time there. I'm glad you went back to performing a bit, i'd like to see some of your stuff later on..~"

He gave a little smile, lying on his back and stretched out, then went back to his original position and faced her again. "I'd be thankful to say that your depression was much less then mine to say the least, but it's still depression and it always sucks when you have it. You also were in a sheltered area, which means you had a nice life from how I think. If you were to travel with me for 8 years, it wouldn't have been fun, especially being around a nobody."

"well nowadays the only nobodys are the ones walking around hungry for brains. If you have managed to survive this long, you must be a somebody." She said stretching out. "I hope we get that cure as fast as possible. I'm ready to start over. Ive had enough of this trotter nonsense" she yawned

"Well, maybe. I just have this gift of being strong ever since I got into the equestrian army, and it does help a lot but just not for personal problems as much.." But he shook his head a little, resting it back down and looked at her eyes. "Anyway, I don't want to talk about that much now, and instead I've been wanting to ask this. So, you do know i'm 40 right? Would that classify as being, too old for a mare..?"

Hearthsong could see a small herd of buffalo. "Hmm, ah guess that either they aren't affected by the virus, or it's not here yet." He said to himself as the calves jumped and played. The adults looked at him, and he waved. They waved back. "Hmm, the desert does have some advantages."

"Well, I suppose by what mare you would have in mind" she said, completely missing the point of the statement. "It really depends from mare to mare. Some of them like the older colts, while others prefer to stick to their own age" She said, tapping her hoof to her chin.

"My Celestia, you are an idiot" the figure said, facehoofing. Grand ignored it

"Ahh.." He responded back, giving a little nod. "Honestly, I would only want a mare who would just want a simple life, a few kids, and wouldn't care about how old we are. Well, not caring is an understatement. More or less between the lines of 20 to 43 is my limit, but anyways.."

Zeta let out a little sigh afterwards.

"I really just want that, but even so I don't think i'm worthy anymore to deserve such a gift.."

"do you suppose theres a food source those buffalo are living off of nearby?" she said, watching their silhouettes fade into the night. "they wouldnt be way out here if they didnt" she thought, looking to the direction they were heading

"do you suppose theres a food source those buffalo are living off of nearby?" she said, watching their silhouettes fade into the night. "they wouldnt be way out here if they didnt" she thought, looking to the direction they were heading

"Yeah, well from all the troubles I've caused it sure seems like it.."

He then took notice of the buffalo, watching as they slowly walked away in a different direction. Then he looked back to Grand and exhaled. "You know, I have noticed you are really smart sometimes." Replying back to her in a slightly happy manner. "We should probably go follow them, maybe check if there really is a source of food or water out here. The only problem is getting lost, but we wont venture out too far now, only until we cant see the campfire anymore."

"that sounds good. Hearth, would you care to join us? we wont go too far" she said, pulling herself up. "I hope theres an oasis nearby, I could use some fresh water" She said, looking out into the desert.

"As if theres gonna be anything out there, we are in the middle of a desert, DUH"

"Lets get going" she said in a determined voice, looking over to the side of her with a glare

Hearth straightened up. "Ah don't see why not." He looked back to the remainder of the team, he hoped they'd be able to find their way back. He looked toward the buffalo. 'Where there's life, there's water somewhere.' He thought to himself and began to follow Grand. His tree looked so sad without him there.

"that sounds good. Hearth, would you care to join us? we wont go too far" she said, pulling herself up. "I hope theres an oasis nearby, I could use some fresh water" She said, looking out into the desert.

"As if theres gonna be anything out there, we are in the middle of a desert, DUH"

"Lets get going" she said in a determined voice, looking over to the side of her with a glare

"You got it~ And i'll leave my armor out here, no need to really take it since we're not in a major threat. Though.."

Before leaving, he trotted over to Missy, grabbing the leggings/boots that were there and brought them over to Grand. "I heard you didn't like scoripons, and these will keep them from ever biting you."

Then he kneeled down and grabbed one, signaling to lift up one leg. "Up~"

Grand shuddered. "I forgot about the scorpions" she said, letting Zeta help her into the boots. She looked at the gorund before continueing on. "you dont suppose those things are lethal do you?" she said, looking around. A fair sized spider scurried across a dune beside them and she let out a small shriek. "oh... nevermind, its not coming towards us. I.. really dont like spiders" she said, looking at the hill

"It's alright Grand, they wont hurt you since you'll only hear a little ting from the boots if they try to lunge at you." Zeta replied back, finishing putting on the three and gave her a hug. "I'll walk in front of you to make sure there is no arachnids of any sort nearby, if it makes you feel any better."

"Um, Zeta, I don't think she wants to hear things attacking her at all." Missy chuckled. "Anyway, don't go too far or we're gonna have to come and find you." Missy began to think again, she wanted to remember what she had forgotten...

It was troubling her, all the fragments so she started rubbing the sides of her head.

Grand shuddered. "I forgot about the scorpions" she said

"Okay... since you are still worried about the arachnids, let me just take it out- " Ink pulled out one spray bottle containing a yellowish liquid, presumably essential oil, "Lemon oil, arachnids hate them, just take it, you need it more than me." he handed it down to Grand, he insisted that she took it, "not just arachnids actually... it has Pennyroyal in it and Nasturtium extract, hence it's an effective bug repellent and nontoxic for ponies."

 

Missy began to think again, she wanted to remember what she had forgotten...

After handing his self-made bug repellent, Ink noticed Missy was somewhat troubled, "You okay?"

Missy was feeling quite stressed, so she didn't hear Ink when he asked her if she was alright.

"ki...in...bi...en.....ge....ff.....me." The memory was in pieces, she was trying to piece it together again.

"al....ne....Missy...ev....ou.....ki.....ed...Missy....!!!"

"Missy!" Fire Horn yelled, since Missy had been unresponsive.

"Huh? What?" Missy asked, confused, very confused.

Grand smiled weakly as they walked towards the buffalo. "Thanks for the boots, though I hope nothing attacks you either" she says, looking around. There didn't seem to be too much in sight. "Do you see anything? I haven't seen an oasis or a five star resort yet. "She said with a laugh

"Look, guys, i think i'm just going to go with Zeta and Grand, it'll hopefully give me some time to think....about things." Missy said, she got up and followed after the two.

"Ink, I don't know what's wrong with her, every time she goes into this trance-like state, she always changes the subject before I can ask." Fire Horn said. "What do I do?"

Grand smiled weakly as they walked towards the buffalo. "Thanks for the boots, though I hope nothing attacks you either" she says, looking around. There didn't seem to be too much in sight. "Do you see anything? I haven't seen an oasis or a five star resort yet. "She said with a laugh

"Don't worry about me now, even I don't care about my health at this point." Zeta responded, looking around at the barren wasteland. The campfire was still somewhat near so they kept on walking along, both looking for the oasis and for any arachnids.

Eventually after getting fairly far away, he barely made out a sight of some form of reflection from the moonlight in the distance, letting Grand have a look as well. "I think that may be it Grand, lets go check it out!" He then started to trot along towards it, but kept her near at all times.

As they walked she checked her bag for anything that might help with scorpion stings, just in case. As zeta pointed out the silhouette we smiled. "Let's hope it's what we are looking for" she said, doing her best to catch up with zeta. As they got closer, a few trees became distinct

With the oasis in sight, he was nearly about to run there but then remembered about Grand and slowed down, getting beside her so they wouldn't become separated. "Wow, I think it really is an oasis. Seeing that there is buffalo surrounding it, with some trees as well. If you wanna hop on my back I can take you there quicker, but it's up to you. And besides, you wont be in scorpion range anymore if you do that~"

"Am I allowed to come on your little quest, Zeta?" Missy asked, she was feeling quite shivery but she managed to not show any kind of signs that she was cold. "Unless you guys wanted to go alone, in which case i'll return to the camp."
