Steel finshed his pushups and sit ups he looked around and decided to ask Stephan to fight him "stephan could you do somethig for me, I Havent trained like i used to and I want to fight you to work ony speed and reaction" steel said as he walked over to Stephan

Missy saw Zeta, sitting alone, away from everypony, that was a stupid move, now Missy had probably ruined his chances with Grand, it was something that she already regretted, but she decided to talk to him anyway.

 

"I know i'm probably the last pony you want to see right now, but i need to talk to you before you tell me to go away." Missy said. "Don't think of that over there as a failure, she was just caught off guard, let her have time to think....and when she's ready, she'll talk to you." Missy waled over to Fire Horn.

 

"Hey, what are you two talking about?" Missy asked.

"No, it's alright." Zeta replied, giving a little exhale and laid down. He listened to what she had to say, and decided to learn from it as well. After all, he did like her so he wanted to make the best impression he could.

"I'll give her some time then, just leave me here at the oasis for now to think as well."

Grand began to head back to the campfire. She hadn't realized how tired she was until the warmth of the fire washed over her. She laid down and fell asleep, her back to the fire. The cool wind caused her to swing her tail over her body as an improvised blanket. She slept restlessly, though there were no nightmares this time

Stephan smiled at everypony. They all seemed to be happy, especially after the water he saved for them. He looked up and he felt the cool breeze on him. He decided that he might just get a little bit of shuteye. He deserved it.

Stephan walked to a sleeping Grand. She seemed happy, a mood he hasn't seen from her in a while. Stephan sat next to her and lied down. He glanced over at Grand and smiled. "If only I could tell you how I really felt. I will, just not now." He said, knowing well that she couldn't really hear him.

Fire Horn gave Ink back his journal. "We'll speak again later, Ink." Fire said, turning to Missy as she sat down, Fire put his left foreleg around her as she leaned into him.

"We can only get about an hour of sleep, you realize that right?" Fire said.

"I don't care, i just wanna sleep anyway." Missy said as she instantly fell asleep, Fire chuckled and looked up at the moon, it was beautiful, it made him think of Luna.

Fire tries to process what he has just read about, one of Star Swirl's children, getting sent to us, it makes absolutely no sense, all we know is that Missy is the key to the shrine, whatever it is, Ink Drop couldn't get into the main mechanics of the device.
"Stephan?" Fire whispers. "We leave in about an hour, get everything together, try not to wake anypony."

Hearthsong simply sat at his tree, holding his vigil as he always did. "This is startin' t' get real annoyin' " He said to himself. He decided to make this a little interesting. He climbed up to the highest possible sturdy branch. He sat down and got a good view of the desert surrounding them.

The only one not at the campsite was Zeta, who watched as the sand moved along the cold breeze that it carried. He was indeed, cold not being near the fire and instead was by the oasis, but he didn't care. Nothing didn't matter to him, not anymore. Maybe even sacrificing himself wouldn't be bad at all, since after all Zeta did tell Missy for him to be the first one to go.

 

So he just laid there, resting next to one of the trees that was there and eventually fell asleep. He'd hope the group would forget him, and just leave him to die.

"Whatever you say, Fire. Let's finish this." Stephan whispered back. He gathered up the trail mix and water canteens and put it in his knapsack. He strapped it on his back and walked to Fire. "So, why didn't you want me to wake them up? If we're leaving, aren't they coming, too?"

"We aren't leaving right now, i just want to give everyone a bit more time to sleep, we're in for a tough journey and we really need the rest, especially Missy." Fire said. "Oh, check on Zeta, he hasn't come back to the camp and i'm getting worried about him at this point."

Grand yawned and woke up sleepily. "I haven't held anyone up have I?" She said, rubbing her eyes and stretching. She stated close to the fire, and took a small sip of the water from the oasis. "There shrine shouldn't be too far, am I correct?" She asked, fully standing up now

With a quick motion, he woke up and almost kicked Stephan before realizing it was him. Zeta then jumped off and shook his head a little, blinking before looking back up. "You just disturbed my sleep, and I wanted to be alone.."

Hearthsong was up in his tree. He started to sift through his pack. He found a book. He read the title. "Kinda interestin' " he said to himself. He opened it and began to read. Every once in a while, he'd break to take a look at the sky.

Zeta gave a sigh, looking down at the sand and moved a hoof around it. "They say third time is a charm, but that's really just a lie. So now, i'm never talking to any mare, ever again.."

After speaking, he turned and started to walk back to where the group was. He might as well serve his purpose while he can, instead of dying in peace out here.

"I've never even dated a mare. I'm too busy with my duties. Right now, our love lives are the least of our worries." He pointed out. "And, don't worry, buddy. You'll find that special somepony one day."

Missy was fast asleep in Fire's arms, all Fire wanted to do was look at her, she looked so peaceful, it was a perfect moment, one that he wanted to last forever, but the time had come for everypony to start moving again, so Fire gave her a quick kiss on the head to wake her up.
"Wha..?" Missy asked.
"Hey there, we've got to get going now." Fire replied in a sympathetic voice.
"But i'm cold and tired." Missy argued again. "How much further?"
"We should be at the bottom of the mountain by sunset tomorrow." Fire said.

Zeta let out another sigh, still looking down while walking back to the camp. "I cant get rid of it, not after my first wife, and Paint had gone.."

Stephan then remembered back from 8 years ago; he remembered Paint. He didn't even know what happened to her, and he didn't even know where she was. "I'm sorry, dude." He said in a calming tone. "I wouldn't understand. I've never really experienced love..."

"It's alright Stephan. You still can have a good life, and probably even learn from my mistakes if something goes wrong.. Anyway, it looks like we're back at the campsite so i'll get ready to leave."

 

He looked back up, seeing the rest of the group get prepared as he grabbed his saddlebag and armor, strapping it on once more.

Stephan looked back at Zeta and nodded. He then sat down and waited for the others to get ready. He was ready to end this so he could go back to his everyday life of adventuring and excitement. But, after this, he might've had enough of it for a while.

Grand yawned as she strapped her saddlebags back on and checked her supplies. she was glad nobody had gotten hurt in awhile. "I'm ready to head out as soon as everypony is ready" she said, attempting to straighten out her mane as she waited. she stretched out to get the sleepiness away

Hearth slipped the book into his pack. He stood up on the branch, and jumped from the tree without touching another branch. He landed on the sand softly. "Ah'm as ready as anypony else is." He said before repositioning some of the objects that he was carrying to make them more comfortable.

Missy got up to her three hooves, with help from Fire.
"Let's get going, it's time to end this." Missy said sleepily. Fire started leading Missy but she started walking towards the mountain on her own, Kilimanejaro.
"I'll be fine, Fire." Missy said before notiicing Grand's mane. "Do you need help with that?"

"hmm? oh, no, theres no point in trying to fix this mess" she said before following behind her. "I just hope all of this will be worth it"

"wha- not you again!"

"Hey there romeo, hows it shakin?"
