As Bass was headed towards the door to leave, Kaz faintly shouted, "WAIT! Bass, come back... Please, We have enough time to talk." He was lying in the white bedding which was now stained with muck and grass.

"Come and lie next to me, please darling." Kaz seemed to ask but demand in one single tone.

Bass turned to see the stallion had waken up, and was now calling him over.

"No, You need to sober up first. I'm going to my show now. It ends at 11, I'll be back then."

Bass then headed out the door, a loud thud behind him as it closed. As he made his way back toward the club, all the events of the past 24 hours ran through his head. It melded together into a slur of confusion, and as he arrived at the club, he shook it all off.

"Alright, Bass. Don't think about Kaz. Just go in there and play your set. Worry later." He said as he entered the building and made way to the stage to get ready.

Richard replied "I never said we couldn't, I just said it would be hard, as I said, this model won't come out for a few years, the part that broke isn't publicly available yet, so it might be a while. Anything else you want to do?"

(whoops... I didn't get any notification from the mention, argh)

Starshine's face soured. There goes the chance for an exciting adventure of fixing Richard's turntable. He had been expecting something good out of the seemingly extremely rare piece of equipment. The colt sighed. "Fine, then. If you insist on not fixing your thing up, it's your problem."

"As I've said before, I have nothing planned today. My saddlebag is patched up, I already have enough bits to sustain myself for a week, and there is no bizzare happenings around here... Anyway, let us walk around while we are talking. I don't really want to stay in one place for too long." With that said, he started trotting down the road to the west, hoping that the pegasus would follow him. His eyes wandered about. It had been a while since he found a unicorn with fancy spells that he could imitate. The latest trick he had learned had grown dull over the course of few weeks. He turned to Richard. "Hey, during your time in this place, have you seen any strong unicorn with gorgeous spells? Like firebreathing or maybe ice sculpting."

@@Starshine,

(OOC: I have that problem too sometimes)

"I used to be able to do those spells, when I was a unicorn, but that's a boring story from several years ago, you don't want to hear about that!" Said Richard. "The best magic I've seen was from Twilight Sparkle, a mare from my hometown of Ponyville. Haven't seen her in a while."

@,

"Hah," mumbled Starshine. He raised an eyebrow and stared at Richard. Did the pegasus hit his head too hard that he spoke off himself being an unicorn? He was torn between leaving the delirious stallion alone or to pursue it further. He decided the later would make him busy for quite a while.

"So you were an unicorn," said Starshine, playing it along with Richard. "And you personally know the newest princess. Hm... Could you do something like this, then?" With a flick of his magic, Starshine created an illusion of translucent wings on his back. It was not real, but only those with the keenest eye would be able to tell the difference. He flapped the sparkly wings up and down a few times before dispersing it into flames behind him.

"Was I close?" Pondah queried. "I have absolutely no clue what you do now. For all I know, you could be bluffing and your job is something that you'd expect like PR work or choclatier or events manager."

Pondah racked his brains for an another answer but kept coming up with nothing. Eventually, with mild frustration, he said, "Gr... I don't know! What do you do!

"See? I told you it's not always obvious!" She said smugly. "You can't judge a book by that thingy on the back of the cover. You know, where it tells you about what's written inside of it?"

Was that analogy right? It was close enough. She continued regardless.

"You won't know what you're good at until you do it, that's just how it works! Unless you were called something like 'Pondah the Philosopher' or something, then it would be pretty easy to guess..." She concluded, returning to her beaming smile.

"I guess your right..." Pondah replied. "I'm still annoyed that I couldn't find the correct answer." Pondah lowered his voice. "I've spent the whole of my life trying to learn the answers to questions but I was stumped by a simple 'What's my job' question. 16 years doing something and I can't find an answer. I've put my life into learning but I'm still not good enough..."

Pondah frowned, turned away from Bubble and sat on the ground, starting at his hooves.

"Cheer up Ponder!" Chided the mare softly. "You can't know everything, there are some things that take time to figure out!"

Poking her head around into his field of vision, her regular grin reduced to something that could only be technically called a smile, she continued.

"You expect too much from yourself, to know everything? I don't know everything. I don't know many things actually, I just guess lucky a lot of the time..." She smiled weakly.

"Oh, and I help ponies relax, massages and meditation... that sort of stuff! All calm and relaxing, betcha didn't think I could do that!" she added proudly.

"I can't say I did..."  Pondah replied. "I still don't see why it's a problem to expect perfection. If you'd put your entire life into something, surely perfection should be the least you would expect. I can understand making a mistake if I was doing something for the first time but... making a mistake answering a question? It makes me realise that I'm not as good as I think. I've realised that... I'm not a knowledgeable recluse, I'm just a recluse."

Pondah dropped lower to the ground and placed his hooves on his eyes.

"I've hidden myself away from society to learn. What have I got to show for it? No perfection, no talents and no skill... Nothing. I have nothing... I am nothing."

"You are smart though, you know all these fancy words and stuff, and you figured out what that black stuff Cinder gave me was."

She dropped down to the ground beside him, watching him intently.

"Which was kind of important, if you hadn't I'd have either drunk it or thrown it at Lightning when I saw him today..."

Pondah shook his head. "Anypony can read a dictionary and find out some new words. Anypony could've worked out what the black liquid was. Even if I hadn't told you what the black stuff was, the moment you removed the stopper, you'd know that trouble would happen if you drank it."

After a sigh, Pondah continued. "I used to think my intelligence was a gift. I thought that ponies were born to understand how the world works; I realised something. Intelligence isn't a gift, it's not something you're born with. Anypony can learn. It's dawned on me, now that I've thought about it, I've been doing something that everypony can do. I've not be nurturing some talent, I've deluded myself into believing that everything is out to cause me trouble. Other ponies aren't holding me back. I am holding me back."

"Uhm..." Bubble had run out of advice. She desperately wanted to help but just couldn't think of anything to say of do that might change the mind of the pony who seemed determined to be miserable no matter what.

"Sorry Ponder... I don't know. I don't think that's true but it's not me you need to convince, it's yourself." She said without moving, the tone of her voice mirroring the mood: subdued, quiet and not happy in the slightest.

"No, my friends helped me perform a powerful spell that turned me from a unicorn to a pegasus, I always wanted to feel the wind in my face, sometimes I wonder if I made a bad decision in doing so, and Twilight's a princess now? Celestia, time sure does fly!" Said Richard.

Pondah sighed. "You're right." Pondah said. "I need to change but I don't know how. How do I stop myself from holding me back? Is it something that takes a while or something that happens quickly. I don't know..."

'I just don't know. One moment, when I don't know something, I find out the answer. Why should this be different?'

With determination, Pondah arose. "When you don't know something, you have to find out. I don't know how I need to change, so I must find out. I've got years ahead of me and I don't intend to waste them. It's time I lived my life to the best I can.

'Isn't that what I've been telling him all along?' Wondered the mare as she watched Pondah and his epiphany.

"Great!" She chirped, somewhat more happily though still lacking the usual cheeriness of her usual voice. She couldn't remember being this down since...

'Huh. Last Night...' She thought. 'Baltimare isn't a very nice place...'

It didn't matter: Pondah seemed to be a little happier than before: that was what was important right then.

"Don't you feel better already?" She asked, lifting her head up from the ground where she was still mimicking the position that Pondah had been in.

Pondah began to smile. "Yes." he replied. "I'm feeling better already."

He looked at Bubble, who was still prone, and began to think.

'I did that... I've made the one pony concerned with my happiness as depressed as I am. I need to cheer her up. If depression rubs off on ponies, so must happiness.'

Pondah walked slowly towards Bubble and sat next to her. He placed a hoof on her back and began to stroke her softly.

"Thanks for your help." he said, quietly.

(OOC: Don't get any dirty ideas over Pondah stroking Bubble. Think how you would stroke a cat.)

And I mean cat, not pussy (for those dirty minded freaks out there...)

"If you're sure," Sunny said, still not completely convinced. She shrugged it off and smiled at Candy.

"Sure," she replied, beaming, and was about to continue, but the waiter came up to them and asked for their orders. The mares both gave him their orders, and Sunny turned back to Candy as he left.

"Well, we've still got some sun left. Do you want to do anything after supper?"

"Well, we've still got some sun left. Do you want to do anything after supper?"

Candy simply smiled at first, then thought for a moment. "No...I didn't have anything in mind, really. I'll leave it up to you. I just wanna spend the rest of the day at your side." Her smile grew wider. "If that's okay with you of course." She said in a cocky tone. She didn't doubt Sunny, but she thought she might as well have a little fun with her by making it sound that way.

Bubble had met some strange ponies, but Pondah was one of the strangest. He didn't really have any quirks to speak of, save for his furniture thing, but didn't ever seem to know whether he was happy or sad.

"I didn't do anything..." She said, looking around in surprise. "I was pretty useless actually, I think made you feel worse if anything... I'm just glad you're feeling a little better."

Pondah giggled and continued to stroke Bubble. Pondah didn't understand how Bubble was able to stay happy at most times and, aside from when he was involved, he'd never seen her down.

"You've spent so long in nearly constant happiness, you've forgotten that good things can come from bad times and sadness." Pondah told Bubble. "If we were constantly happy with a situation, where would be the incentive to change? If I hadn't met you, I'd still think that being a recluse was the best thing to do but you've shown me that that isn't good. Therefore, I want to change. Do you understand? Sadness and happiness are equally important. Happiness keeps us going in life while sadness encourages revolution."

"I think so..." The pale mare nodded. "Being happy is just... kind of my thing." She grinned.

She was surprisingly relaxed, given the circumstance.

"It's not like I don't get sad or angry or stuff... I just don't like it. I don't like thinking that others might feel like that either. I guess I never really saw the other side of stuff. I'm weird like that I suppose."

It took Starshine a while to fully digest what Richard just said. His face scrunched. "So... You asked your friends to take away your horn. Your magic. Your birthright. And you asked them to trade all of that for two wings just because you want to feel the wind in your face." He took a deep breath and jumped onto Richard's face

"Have you lost your mind!?" he screamed. "You gave away your horn, the key for the arcane realm, and you still wonder if that's a bad decision!? I tell you what, that is literally the worst thing an unicorn can do! With your horn you can do so much things and I can easily think of dozens way you can give yourself the power of flight without taking it away!"

Starshine released Richard and facehoofed. "By Luna you're unbelievable."

Sunny was slightly confused by Candy's cocky tone, but waved it off and smiled awkwardly.

"Nope, I don't mind. " she said, fully realizing that it probably was a stupid way to answer but not knowing how else to reply. A somewhat embarrassed blush made it's way to her cheeks.

Luckily, their food came, and she used eating as an excuse to stay quiet.
