Esme saw his darkened silhouette flop onto the bed. She sighed, and smiled a little. "Hey, are ya tired now? I think that maybe I'd like to meet this dog of yours. Eldrich used to be a big deal at parties, but nowadays she just brings out the snacks, my friends all know who she is. Nopony really pays much attention to a small little messenger dragon anymore. Sometimes I feel bad for her. Oops, sorry, I was rambling again. I'm kinda tired. Ok, screw that. I'm REALLY tired. See ya in the morning, Grin, I gotta hit the hay." The blue pegasus folded her wings back to their places at her sides, and closed her shiny aqua eyes. Within a few minutes, she was asleep, breathing easy. And, as much as she didn't know it, she was slowly falling in love.

"Okay." Blazing said simply. He was used to being out around this time, but he was still willing to walk back if Charcoal wanted him to. She is one of my only friends here... If she wants me to go back with her I will, simple. He thought. Without even realizing it, he had completely forgotten about the fact that he still had at least one other friend there.

Charcoal and Blazing both begin the walk back to the hotel. Once there they walk up to Charcoal's room. "Well, here's my room. I guess I'll see you tomorow then?"

Rambler shook his head. "Are you? I've known you long enough that I can tell when you're not being entirely honest with me. But I guess it doesn't matter. If you're not excited already, I guess I'll just have to make you excited. That's fine by me. I enjoy a good challenge. Now what say we head out for a walk along the beach and see if we can't find a nice quiet place to watch what's left of the sunset? After that, I'm sure I'll think of something for us to do."

Waving good-bye Charcoal walks into her room and lays down on the bed. *sigh* "Well today's sure been an interesting day. I crashed on a beach, worried lots of ponies, and made a new... friend." Charcoal blushes a little. "What is this feeling I get when around him? *sigh* Oh well, maybe a good night sleep with clear my thoughts." She then turns out the lights and sleeps a dreamless sleep, as always.

 

When Blazing got back to his room, he couldn't sleep for some reason. Why can't I sleep? What is wrong with me? He wondered. Normally he was able to sleep no matter what, but something about this time was different. He thought it might be because of the fact that he couldn't get Charcoal off of his mind. This is going to be terrible... He thought. At some point though he finally fell asleep.

He grinned mischievously as he started walking towards the door. "Oh, I don't know. In a nice quiet spot on the beach, on a beautiful night, alone with a beautiful mare? I'm sure I'll find some way for us to pass the time. Unless you have a better idea, that is."

"You know, we so rarely travel that I don't even know if you like the beach. I guess that's something we should have established before we came here, huh?"

"To tell the truth, I don't really know if I like the beach. Whenever I visit other countries with beaches, I don't really spend time enjoying myself. I only ever act as an emissary is when military intimidation is required. After all, normally I have Lightning as my right-hoof stallion there, so we make a good duo. Two alicorns both in military positions? Talk about scary."

Rambler laughed. "Why am I not surprised you've never really been to the beach? I swear, if it weren't for me you'd never have any fun at all. It can't be healthy to be so focused on work. Well, by the time we leave, you'll be quite familar with the beach, I'm sure. I think you'll probably like it. I know you like swimming, since you have that pool at home, and if you get tired of that you can always work on tanning that sexy body of yours."

Rambler sighed as he remembered the night they first met. "Of course I remember. How could I forget? We had been talking for quite a while already, and I had never connected with a mare in that sort of way before. And you looked just as beautiful then as you do now. I had to win that race to prove I was just as good as him, that just because he was an alicorn, that didn't mean he could just swoop in and take you away from me. And by some miracle, you ended up choosing me." He smiled warmly and nuzzled her.
