NavelColt 22,881 August 7, 2013 Share August 7, 2013 Not so much a matter of not wanting them, but more of a 'we have a nostalgic, consistent theme of user-created emotes', and making drastic changes to them is often treated from a conservative approach by staff, and many regulars and other members. Other sites and forums often get their emoticons from elsewhere, be it other forums or places like DeviantART. Our themed ones were all made by our own users :3 Making animated ones to match the theme we have sounds like it'd be interesting to look into, especially considering Poniverse will have all sorts of sites to spark ideas and uses for emotes, but I can hardly imagine anyone off the top of my head who can both create and animate images like those, to the same quality of ones that we use. Someone can feel free to have a Gandalf rising up over the mountain moment, and prove me wrong, though.

Shift 4,272 August 8, 2013 Share August 8, 2013 @@Lion Tree, I'm afraid I don't understand what you're saying. Are you talking about avatars (That image above 'Muffin') or smilies (This: )? If you're talking about smilies, then if you want animated ones, just attach them to a post and you can find them in your media, which is next to the smiley icon. Have the courage to think and act on your own. And have the courage to disobey.

King 5,625 August 9, 2013 Share August 9, 2013 The process to create such animated icons is rather...iffy. Not only do we need to decide upon which characters star in the icons, but we also need to find/design proffessional looking ones for a wide array of emotions AND have the community and staff majority agreeing with the emotes....so unfortunatly i dont see this happening any time soon. Some day maybe.... Goddamn right, you should be scared of me Twitter
Harmonic Revelations 8,835 August 10, 2013 Share August 10, 2013 It's probably some combination of it lagging pages with lots of emoticons and the lack of an artist to create such emoticons, that ultimately makes it seem unlikely such a feature would be implemented. OkBuddy 586 September 17, 2013 Share September 17, 2013 Finding gifs might be the next best thing if you want some animated emotes. You'll find plenty of them online. I'm a Y2K Survivor™
Jokuc 8,174 September 17, 2013 Share September 17, 2013 (edited) Although Drawing isn't my best art,I can make emoticons.I like the idea! Finding gifs might be the next best thing if you want some animated emotes. You'll find plenty of them online. Since any additional emoticons that would be added to the site needs to be the same style as those ones we have now, you would have to make them accurately similar. And those people who have made the emoticons made them in one way and program, and if someone makes new emoticons they would have to make it in a similar way or the quality on the pictures would be very different. I made few of the emotes on here and I, for example, used a vectoring program to get the highest quality as possible. However I don't think we need more emotes but that's up to the staff. Animated emoticons would not even follow the same style as those as we have now, and we are not changing our entire set just to have pictures that moves. It's not needed. And as DJP says here, there are plenty of gifs you can find online if you want to use them in your post. This is a my little pony forum and if you ask me, you should of course be allowed to post pony pictures as many times as you want in your posts. As long as you not put a bunch of different gifs in one image for no purpose. Edited September 17, 2013 by Jokuc
