"Well have fun I guess. and if you need somepony to talk to just nudge me awake. I'm not a very heavy sleeper so it shouldn't be too hard. And I am also not one to get upset at ponies for waking me up. Well any way, night." Charcoal leans back to lay her head down and eventually falls asleep.

Dog Ears heard a pony talking to himself and snorted slightly. Then he realized how mean that was an viciously scolded himself in his head. He noticed that the pony wasn't too far ahead of him. Hmm... He seems like he'd be fun to hang around. Maybe I'll try to talk to him sometime. It'd probably be awkward if I did it now. Gah when is this plane gonna take off?!

'​Remember, you were told it would speed up rehabilitation if you socialise. Start now.' ​ Glacier thought. She looked around the room for the most silent pony. She settled her eyes on a brown Earth Pony with particularly queer ears.'

She walked over to him and spoke. "Hey, freakshow." ​Glacier said. "Need somepony to talk to?" Glacier stood tall and her figure was bold and intimidating.

Dog Ears looked up and smiled. "If you wanna talk then I'm fine with it. Name's Dog Ears, I get that alot." He wasn't going to let this pony bring him down. He never let anypony bring him down. When he got called names when he was a colt, he adopted the name as his own. If she wanted to intentionally hurt him, she would have to try much harder than that.

Glacier giggled as she found out his name. "Seriously? Dog Ears?"  she asked. "Is that a nickname you've been given or do your parents really not like you?"

 

Still giggling, Glacier sat down next to 'Dog Ears' and made herself comfortable. "If your interested in my name, it's Glacier." ​she told him. "Glacier Shard if you want it in full."

Dog Ears laughed along with her. "I get that a lot, too. My name isn't really Dog Ears, but it's what I'd like people to call me. Glacier's a nice name. That's like a big block of ice right? So you're talent has something to do with ice I presume?" Dog Ears didn't know much about the colder regions of Equestria, so he didn't exactly know what a glacier was. But he knew the gist of it.

Glacier smirked at his logic. "Got it in one." ​she told him. "Creation and manipulation of ice, that's my niche. You know, it's nice to meet somepony who can work things out for themselves. We're the lucky ones, gifted with the power of common sense." 

 

Glacier remarked about his logic as she common sense. Explaining something to someone who couldn't or wouldn't work anything out for themselves was one of her pet peeves.

 

"I'm guessing your skill is something to do with animals and/or ears."

Dog Ears nodded back at his flank, which showed a paw print with a red cross in the middle. "I'm a vet. Like I said Dog Ears is just a nickname. Foals back in school used to make fun of me for my ears. They started calling me Dog Ears, so I just adopted the name as my own. But now that I think about it my talent doesn't really match my real name..."

"Can't blame them for cracking jokes about your ears." Glacier said. "Schooling seems to have a habit of picking at your weaknesses and trying to break you. It tried to do a similar thing to me but all it did was make me stronger. You have your ears that attracted hate, I had the fact I was more interested in education than the other sex."

 

Glacier rose from her seat and began to pace back and forth, putting more hate into each word. "They tormented me, called me sad, said I deserve the problems I get. The main one tried violence but that's when I FLIPPED!" ​ Glacier put extra emphasis into the final word. She got right into Dog Ears' face and continued.

 

"So do you know what I did? I froze the very blood in his veins! If it weren't for that, I'd never have found out that schools are licensed to use stun spells on angry students. That was a good day. Ceased the bullying, gained respect and got my Cutie Mark."

 

With her vent over, Glacier sat back down. ​"That's my youth story. What's yours?"

Dog Ears blinked twice. His face was frozen in a sort of shocked reaction. "U-um I uh... Well i um, told you about the name and stuff and I uh.. found a hurt dog when I was little and um... fixed him up and kept. I-I got my cutie mark for that..."   Dog Ears trailed off and looked out of the window to the side of him.

The sight of Dog Ears' fear causes Glacier to laugh. "Aw... are you scared?" ​Glacier mocked. "If you think talking to me is bad enough, being on a plane with me might make you go loco. It's fine though. I don't attack without reason. Stay on my good side and you'll have a good time." Glacier showed a flash of her sharp teeth. "Stay on my bad side and I'll give the newspapers something really good to write about."

 

Glacier's main rule on her aggression is that she only attacks those who deserve it, those special few that do just enough to tick her off. Ponies that do nothing to her, get nothing from her. To Glacier, this is as fair a system as is needed.

"Quill Poem? A suitable name." Crystal complimented. "My name is... Crystal. Whike it is not exactly my proper name it is the name I was reffered to as a child. So I have always assumed that it was at least a fraction of my full name." She levitated her suitcase up to the locker above her and closed it.

 

Quill Poem nodded. "Okay..." He didn't really know why somepony wouldn't know what their proper name was, but that didn't matter much. Deciding that it wouldn't hurt to make some friends - after all, he was going to be on the trip for two weeks - he made some conversation. "Do you live in Ponyville?"

Crystal sat down next to the stallion. "No. Actually I pive up in Canterlot with my parents. That probably explains the way I commune. I have however heard that ponyville is a very nice town. Very rural and happy. I should visit there sometime." She comtemplated the idea for a while. "Have you ever been to Paris before?"

"I was born in Canterlot too, though I moved to Ponyville when I was an older stallion. I kind of liked Canterlot, mainly because of my cheerful parents," answered Quill. "And I've never been to Paris before. I never actually thought about coming there until I heard of the contest and entered. I never actually expected to win, but I did, and here I am on the plane."

Dog Ears nodded, still looking out the window. This mare had seemed like just a rude pony, but now she seemed like a cold and ruthless pony. It frightened him to say the least. He looked back at her, then at the floor. He didn't really know what to say to what she had just said.

"A silent type." ​ Glacier said. "You can't help me right now. I have no need for you." 

 

​Glacier rose from her seat and left Dog Ears, not even waiting to say goodbye. He had no use and as a result was not worth wasting time on. Glacier went and sat down in a seat far away from anyone else and sat thinking about her latest encounter.

 

'I wasn't able to gather much of a picture on Dog Ears. He spent so much time mumbling and being silent that he gave me no info. He's not to be trusted.'

Dog Ears watched Glacier leaved and got mad at himself. Gah you could have made her be less cold. Don't just let her stay the way she is! He got up and followed her, sitting down next to her. "Sorry about that. I was just a little thrown off at what you were talking about. Have you ever been on a plane before?" He had changed the topic suddenly, but he just wanted to strike a conversation, maybe bring out a less ruthless part of her.

Glacier growled quietly as Dog Ears took a seat next to her. Upon hearing his question, Glacier shook her head. "No. This is my first time." ​she told him. "This is the first time I've gone somewhere without walking. What about you?"

 

'He doesn't seem that scared of me, just my actions and ideas. Like any others.'

Dog Ears nodded slowly. Hehe she sounded like Nestle when I sat down. "This is my first time as well. I don't really get out that much, considering my job takes up most of my life. I live in the same building as my shelter and veterinarian office. I heard some people don't do very well on flights. Like their ears hurt or something."

Glacier scowled at the idea of ponies complaining about hurting ears. "Seriously?" ​she asked. "Hurting ears? Is that really the sorts of petty things ponies complain about?" 

 

​Rubbing her temple, Glacier took a deep breath. One of the reasons why she hated socialising came back to her. Petty complaints and whinging was her least favourite thing to have to listen to.

 

"Where are you from? I've never seen a veterinarian in Ponyville."

Dog Ears nodded. "I guess it ca be really painful. Now that I think about it... I don't really know how my ears will handle it. They're extremely sensitive cuz of their deformity. But anyway. I live in FIllydelphia. And I think there is a vet in Ponyville. She's actually taking care of my dog at the moment. Her name's Fluttershy."
