@,

Raptor was beginning to feel quite uncomfortable with this whole thing, and he wasn't sure exactly why. "I... well, let's just talk about something else for now, alright? If that should happen, then I suppose we'll deal with it as it comes. You're too young to be baring children anyway."

@@Alex Kennedy,

Syl was confused.

"Uh, sure? So, when do you think you could take me out of the apartment." Syl said with a smile. "And it's been forever sense I last saw the sun." she added sarcastically. Only blind people can make blind jokes.

((Yes I did just make a blind joke. Deal with it.))

@,

Raptor thought for a minute. "Well, honestly you're still much too skinny to be a warrior. I'd like to put some more weight on you before we go out, but I'm afraid in this city, especially with food becoming more and more scarce, it's not likely to happen. I guess if you really want, we can go out on a trial run tomorrow. We'll see how it goes and take it from there."

Raptor shrugged. "I've been poisoned before. I can handle it. I have a very strong constitution anyway. You will too if you keep eating so well," He said as he noticed she finished her bowl completely, something she didn't usually do when he brought her meat.

Syl blushed.

"It's because I prefer my meat seasoned and cooked. And anyway, my own poison doesn't hurt me. When windriders are cubs, we get stung repeatedly until we're on the verge of death, and the weak die and the strong remain, and remain with an immunity. Everyone was so surprised when I survived the poisoning because I've always been weak. It's just part of my culture." Syl said, then shrugged.

Raptor smiled proudly. "You survived because you have a strong will to live. That's something to proud of. As long as you have that, the strength and everything else will come in time. As long as you don't keep eating fruit like a pony." He had long since noticed the poorly hidden fruit pits, but decided to let it go. She had eaten plenty of meat anyway.

@@Alex Kennedy,

Oh Lo'Gosh he knows about the fruit pits. Act cool.

Syl blushed.

"Thanks. One of the reasons I left Azeroth was because the strong are an honor and the weak are a burden. I've always been viewed as weak, being blind and preferring fruit, so I was hidden away most of the time. I had few friends, and one day I left."

Raptor shook his head. "They were fools not to see the strength in you. One day you will be great. As great as any of them, and perhaps greater still. You just needed someone to guide you- and to make sure you eat your meat, of course," he finished with an uncharacteristically lighthearted chuckle.

@@Alex Kennedy,

Syl chuckled as well.

"Maybe one day. Garmak o Luk'tuk na gra Oshu'gun has been set upon me." Syl said, and shook her head disparagingly. "I grew up hearing that often. I hope I may never have to say that to you."

((Raptor should ask Syl what that means. I really want to say it. It sound poetic and dark.))

((Well, it's not like I was just going to let that be a complete mystery to me if you hadn't told me to ask.))

Raptor gave her a strange look. "Why, what does it mean? Why would there be something you don't want to say to me?" He couldn't help but feel concerned all of a sudden.

@@Alex Kennedy,

Syl sagged a little as she spoke.

"Anguish and suffering from the Mountain of Spirits. It means the gods have given you up because you are too weak. If one of our kind is given up from the gods, it is like being stripped of everything. To be given up from the gods you are impared by something that can't be fixed. The Mountain of Spirits is one of my kind's holy places, along with the Nagrand, or Land of Winds. I have been blessed from the Nagrand, thankfully. Nagrand is where the gods of intelligence gather. The gods of Nagrand are nameless, while the gods from the Mountain of Spirits have names."

Raptor shook his head. "That's just ridiculous. You may not have the strongest body, but you have a strong mind, and a strong heart. I'm sure your gods- all of them- are proud to number you among their devoted followers. And if they aren't, then they're far too foolish to be deserving of god status."

"Luckily we are not in Azeroth, or you would be in Grombalar. Maybe with your strength they would put you in Grommash. And you would be stuck singing your own Lohn'Goron, because no one will sing it for you. Sad, really, but such is the fate for Dreanor." Syl said, sighing.

Raptor shrugged. "That was a whole bunch of words I didn't understand, but I take it that's a bad thing. Well, all I said was the truth. I wouldn't have taken you in if I hadn't seen something special in you. You're brave, strong-willed, and intelligent. Not to mention quite beautiful."

@@Alex Kennedy,

Syl blushed.

"I was told my beauty was why I wasn't put to death. My parents were hoping that I could bring some honor to the family by marrying a influential windlord." Syl said, averting her eyes. She grew up with the constant stares of admiration until the other windriders noticed her eyes, then the look would stop. Syl had taken to wearing eye covering in Azeroth.

@,

Raptor put a talon on her shoulder comfortingly, yet another thoroughly  uncharacteristic gesture for him. He could tell there was something bothering her. There was no other reason for someone blind to avert their eyes. "There's nothing wrong with the way your eyes are. It just means your other senses are stronger. And you're capable of doing so much more than just finding someone powerful to marry. You can do anything, and you'll have me to help you do it. Don't worry about what your people thought back home. If they didn't see the potential in you, I think they're the ones who are truly blind."

Wait... Is that his talon on my shoulder? This is weird. I don't think this has ever happened before.

Syl smiled and blushed, one again bringing her eyes up.

"Thanks." She said meekly.

((By the way, I totally forgot a blind person wouldn't need to avert their eyes. But thanks for making it sound good.))

((Oh. Well, I guess that worked out pretty well, then.))

Raptor smiled. "Of course. Everything I say is purely the truth. You're remarkable, and you're destined for great things. One day, you'll be far stronger and more fearsome than me, more than any windlord. I can see it, deep within you. Now, it's getting late. I think it's about time you headed off to bed, isn't it? If you want to go hunting with me tomorrow, you're going to have to wake up early."

@@Alex Kennedy,

Syl chuckled.

"Okay. I'm off to bed, Mok'nathal. See you in the morning." Syl said, then gave Raptor a quick hug.

She traveled down the hallway, counting doors and steps until she reached her bedroom. She walked in, and shut the door behind her. It was probably pitch black, but because everything was always pitch black, but everything was always pitch black to Syl. She laid down in her bed and in moments was asleep.

@,

Raptor hugged her back, something which surprised even him. "Good night"

He remained at the table for a while, still concerned about the nature of the strange feelings he'd had when Syl brought up dating. More importantly though, he was concerned about what would become of Syl if they stayed in this city. This place would only stunt her growth, and perhaps bring harm to her. He needed to find somewhere else, but it wasn't as if they could simply get up and leave. Well, there was no sense worrying about it tonight. He sighed and headed off to bed, quickly falling asleep.

@,

Raptor woke up at the crack of dawn as he usually did. Normally he would grab some raw meat for breakfast and head out to go hunting before Syl had even woken up, but today was different. If she was coming with him, he figured they ought to have a good breakfast first. He threw a few strips of meat into a frying pan before going over and knocking on her door. "Syl, if you want to go hunting, you're going to have to get up. I'm making us breakfast right now."

@@Alex Kennedy,

Syl ears twitched as she received a wake up call from Raptor. She felt her eyes flutter open, and her heart always sank a little lower when nothing appeared before her eyes. She headed into the kitchen, smelling meat being cooked.

"Morning *yawn* Mok'nathal." Syl said, and felt her cat-like tongue roll out of her mouth when she yawned, and her giant maw spread wide.

Raptor nodded in acknowledgement to her greeting. Then he realized she probably wouldn't be able to tell he had nodded and opted for a verbal response. "Good morning. Just go ahead and sit at the table, I'll have this ready pretty soon. You'll want to make sure to eat plenty before we go. You'll need lots of energy for this."

@@Alex Kennedy,

Syl nodded and felt for the chair. Chairs were difficult for her because they always seemed to move. When she felt the chair and found where she was supposed to sit, she awkwardly sat down, holding both front paws on the chair to make sure she landed on it. When she was seated, she looked up at Raptor, waiting for the food to be served.

((Yes I did just make a whole post about a blind person sitting down. Deal with it.))

((Nothing wrong with that. I rather enjoyed it.))

The food was ready quite quickly, and soon Raptor had loaded the table with several plates of various pan-fried meats. He then sat down across from her. "Alright, eat as much as you want, and try to get your fill now, because I doubt we'll be stopping for lunch." He then grabbed a hunk of meat in one talon and began munching on it.
