Me saying "hi" is normally me being polite and acknowledging people are here.

It's not necessarily expecting conversation, although it does give the excuse to increase the count by one with a return "hi".

But if no one says "hi" back, that's also okay, some people are just here for the numbers. I'm not going to get upset by it
