Don't think that helps there... at least that's not how I've ever used it so far

Oh and I'm famous it seems. Sobody is trying to steal my Epic Games account. Now it's been locked down- too many unsuccessful login attempts.

Right company, different era :)

"Following his first commercial video game release in 1991, the company became Epic MegaGames in early 1992

...in 1999, the studio's name was simplified to Epic Games."

Oh, I didn't even know that

Hey so in English you have quite a few synonyms to "seemingly". "apparently", "ostensibly", ...

Are they really synonyms or do they carry different meaning?

Like in German we have "scheinbar" and "anscheinend" ; but the first means "it seems like it is true, but it isn't" and the second means "it seems like it is true, and it really is"

Erm, I think they all have the same meaning or intent. I'm not aware of a difference

"Allegedly" has almost become the catchphrase of Ian Hislop, editor of Private Eye and long standing panelist on Have I Got News For You, partly to defend against saying something libelous. Just in case what you're saying isn't actually true :)
