Chemm noticed Code walking towards one of the statues. He wiped off the dust from the base of the statue and began reading what seemed like gibberish. She could make out some of the words, but the fact that some of them were marked off or blurred made the inscription difficult to read. She could barely see the statue until Code lighted a candlestick. She could see that it was relatively large and grey. It looked like scraped marble at best because the statue had been tearing away for quite some time.

 

She then gulped. It looked intimidating, especially considering how worn out it was. She then looked over to Code, asking with worry,

 

"Code... any idea on what it actually says? I can't make out anything from this inscription..."

Listening to what Chemm was asking him, Code lifted his head from the pew and looked towards her. "Not sure. I can't make out any of it either." He said to Chemm as he laid his head back on the pew. Now that he had finally slowed down, the chill in the air got to him. He shivered a little as he got up off the pew. He walked over and found a fallen curtain from one of the balconies above and he grabbed it. 'Guess it's better than nothing.' He went back to the pew and covered himself with the curtain to get warm.

Violet was right! She really seen a church in the distance. Well, It was ruiny but at least the little group found a place to rest where probably nothing could harm them. It made Violet to be proud of herself. She waited for the others and as they have arrived Code opened the large wooden door and the group went inside. Violet remained for last. As everypony went inside she followed them and closed the door after herself which made a rattling noise at it have been closed. It was looked like any other church. It was colder inside but also it was dry. The top of the church was in enough good mood. There only problem was the darkness. She could barely see except when it was a thunder. She walked to one of the benches and dropped herself down. "See I told you guys! We are in safe now!"-she said as she laid back. "Now we just need to wait till the morning than we could leave without any trouble!"-she said but than she saddened. "If the others could make it too...It was my fault...right. Everypony ran outside to see what am I doing! Why am I wanted to commit suicide...and they have been left alone...If...If I didn't go upstairs than they would be still alive! How could I be so stupid!...I'm so sorry..."-she muttered as she watched the bench front of herself.

The church was still an ominous place to her. She then realized. She still had her diary with her as she carried her saddlebag. It was the perfect time for her to use it; she went through a long and hard emotional rollercoaster ride... She took out her diary from her bag, opened it gently with her key, and began to write...

 

"Dear Diary,

"Things have been so hard lately. I don't even know whether I'll be alive after I write this to you. So much has been going on since I last wrote to you. Instead of being in lovely Angel Valley, I'm stranded in a dilapidated church, had my heart broken, and have had no food other than a candy bar since breakfast. I just want to cry right now... I saw many of my classmates pass away at our bus crash. It was terrible..."

 

At this point, Chemm couldn't keep writing. She could only focus on her tears as she could feel one form and fall from her eyes...

At this point, Pyxel was depressed as well. He could feel Violet muttering near her, but he didn't move. What would his words change anyway? The sadness took over. Most of his friends died in the bus, Echo Falls turned out to be a ghost town, he was hungry and tired.

He looked at one of the drawings that had the two sisters smile at them. It felt like they were laughing over him...

Pyxel's anger bursted out and he grabbed a small rock that probably fell down from the crumbly ceiling. He threw the rock at the picture, making a crack between the sisters.

Pyxel sat down again, looking at the picture again. The rock didn't really solve anything. Pyxel moaned because of his hunger. His saddlebag full of food was back at the bus, probably burned for now...

Laying on the pew, Code was looking around at everyone's depressive state. 'I can't fall asleep with everyone like this.' Code thought. His stomache grumbled and he decided to check what he still had in his bag if there was anything left at all. He dug through his bag and was happy to find that there was still a unopened can and two granola bars. He was about to open one and eat, but his appetite was lost when he heard Violet muttering to herself and saw Chemm crying. He got up and put his bag in the center aisle. "You guys are welcome to anything in my bag. I'm going to check out the rest of the church." Code said as he walked over and started heading up the stairs to the upper level.

Eddie was on ground level, he seemed kind of lost and didnt know what to do at a moment, he opened the medkit took some medical wool and medical disinfection liquid, he poured it on the wool and stuffed it in one nostril that was bleeding it started to sting bad in a matter of seconds "AAAH! ssss...DAAAAAMN!!" after he got used to it, he heard a storm roaring after a while it started to rain heavily "bucking great, not only i have a broken nose, rib and wing but mother nature has to make me sick in a worst situation..." he closed the medkit and picked it up, Eddie didnt really had a plan, he decided best was to go where the road too him and hopefully get to Manehattan, Eddie started walking slowly down the dirt road as in a matter of seconds the dirt road turned into a wet mud road

 

not only it was raining but a strong wind had to join the party aswell "damn DAMN!! of all days it had to be this one...we-w-w-well oh b-buck it had t-t-to get ccold all of the sudd-den" Eddie kept walking down the mudroad with his eyes closed

Now, as they could stop, Violet had a chance to rest. She didn't feel it before but as she laid down for a minute she felt her head so heavy. She was still muttering that she was sorry, and it is all her fault but she felt more tired in every minute. Code said he will look around a bit and Violet heared she wanted to shout after him to stay but than she realized that they were in the church so there won't be problem. Code also offered them his food what left, but at the moment Violet was no hungry but tired. Anyway she was thankful and decided to thank him when he get back. She put her head back to the seat and closed her eyes. She listened the storm and tried to sleep, just a bit, but somehow it was just so hard. After a day like that..She get up and slowly walked to Chemm who was depressed as well as Violet. "Can I join?"-she asked "I couldn't sleep...and I thought maybe we could talk a bit...you know...getting know each other a bit better. So?"-she asked and gave her a smile.

Chemm was still crying. She heard Violet speak to her. She didn't want her talking to him. But still... what would her anger do? In the time frame between coming out of the haunted house to the church, she realized... there was no use to harbouring a grudge against a fellow pony, especially considering the situation. If it were any other situation, she would immediately storm off, but in a case of life and death, she could only sniff...

 

"S-S-Sure..."

 

It was that moment that Chemm decided to speak from her heart...

"V-V-Violet... I'm sorry about earlier. You see... I... don't want to admit it... but... I like Pyxel. He's... charming. But... seeing you with him... just made me mad... Sorry."

Code continued up the stairs to the upper floor. He looked over the railing and saw Violet going up to Chemm in what looked like she was trying to comfort Chemm. 'I hope Chemm will forgive her.' He thought as he reached the top of the stairs and looked around. 'Nothing out of the ordinary. Tattered curtains, musty carpet, and webs everywhere. Great, more spiders.' Code examined the large room and noticed some roof leaks dripping on the floor. He walked across the room and saw a hallway leading down the side wall of the church. Peering down the hallway, he thought he saw what he believed to be candle light or light from a fireplace coming from the bottom of the far door. He started to slowly move towards the door, trying not to make a sound. He figured from past experience, that this was the priest's chamber. Code crept up close to the door and tried to listen for any sounds inside.

Violet sat down next to Chemm who told her that she like Pyxel and was jealous at her. "I...seeing me with Pyxel? It must be a misunderstanding...I mean he is nice but...I don't have crush on him." That was the last thing that Violet thought could be the problem. "You don't need to worry about it! You can keep him."-she wishpered than giggled as she looked back at Pyxel. "Maybe he likes you too."-she said and poked Chemm.

 

It seemed they were in the middle of the storm by now. The wind which even stronger now, toss something to the door that made a loud crack witch echoed in the hall of the church. "The must be the storm of the century! Just think about what would happen if we stayed outside."-said Violet to Chemm.

the storm wasnt going to settle down, it was getting windier and windier witch made Eddie walk slower and the wind forced him to close his eyes, he didnt see where hes was going obviosly it resulted in him tripping over some stairs and hitting his forehead on the stairs "OOW...man..aahggGHH!" he laid on the stairs as he looked up and saw a tower, he realized instantly its either a townhall or a church,

Eddie laid on the stairs, soaking wet, shaking from coldness (i dunno how to pronounce it or whatever sorry), when Eddie fell and hit his forehead on the stairs he dropped his medkit on the stairs and forgot about it, Eddie was trying to get up as he was shaking and said "aa-aaaa-aaaah buck! l-lllooks like ill di-di-die before my long lost and f-f-f-fucked brother..."

 

Eddie got up with difficulty, he leaned against the big door to the town hall or church and tried pushing it open, he either was too weak in his current state or the door was locked, he fell down and leaned his back against the door as he fell to his side, closed his eyes and hoped he will go to sleep and wake up in a not so stormy weather

Pyxel woke up because of the loud crack. Was the church really falling apart?

He moved his head to observe the church once more. Everything seemed like before. Chemm was now chatting up with Violet. That made Pyxel a little more happy. As he got up, a terrible pain pierced his stomach. He hadn't eaten anything for a long time.

"Good morning!" He said to the two mares and started walking towards the door.

*Maybe there's some berries or something outside...*

As he pulled open the door, he saw something or somepony in the rain. It was the pegasus that followed them.

Pyxel couldn't leave him there... he just couldn't.

Gathering all of his strenght, he dragged the stallion inside, across the cold floor and on one the benches.

"Our old friend is back." Pyxel said to the others.

When Code got up to the door to listen in, he comfirmed the light was coming from source of fire, but when he tried listening in on the room, it was completely silent. He thought this was odd since he should have heard the fire's crackling. He jumped when a loud crack echoed through the church and the light coming from the room instantly went dark. Not wanting to go into the mysterious room, he slowly went back up the hallway and into the large room. Code looked around and saw no difference and wondered where that loud sound came from. He then went to the stairs and started walking down them and noticed Pyxel dragging something in. He couldn't see what it was from where he was at, so he went up to Pyxel to see. Looking at the bench, he found out who it was. "Ah jeez. Him again."

Violet was very comforting. Chemm gasped when she said that she had no interest with Pyxel. She could only stutter and blush in reply as Violet then lightly punched her. 

 

"S-S-So... you don't like Pyxel that way? But... the holding of hooves... the fact you ended up with him all alone... you didn't see him anything more?" Chemm then heard the thunder and lightning blaze through the skies. She shook at where she was; it was difficult to hold her fears inside. At least there weren't any zombie ponies yet...

 

"With the storm coming this way, I'm glad we stayed inside. If only there was some way to contact somepony out there... We need to send a distress signal!" Chemm replied to Violet with some urgency. She didn't like the current situation. If they didn't do something, the zombies would overtake them...

Eddie had fallen asleep when he was on the stairs, he was dragged in and put on a bench, now he woken up and its not any warmer for him in church since his mane and his body is soaking wet, he felt like the inside of his head is splitting open as he opened his eyes and saw two ponies and said "wh-wha-what do y-you want?" he was shaking a bit as he curled himself into a ball to stay atleast a little warm

"I think it was just random, nothing serious."-said Violet and smiled.  "But holding his hooves? Well...I don't remember that, sorry!" In the meanwhile Pyxel opened the door. Violet turned around to see why and noticed him dragging something, she couldn't see it from the benches. She stood up and it was clear. Pyxel dragged somepony inside who was in a really bad state. "Our old friend?"-Violet didn't what Pyxel were talking about. What kind of old friend if anypony else died? As she moved closer she realized that the newcomer was somepony she know but we couldn't call him a friend. "You?!"-shouted Violet from the surprise. "I haven't seen you since whe have entered the town! I thought you left or something..." We couldn't say that Violet was happy to see him after they had an argument at the crash. She didn't even noticed when he had left the group. But now he looked so weak and defenceless that Violet felt sorry for him. "What happened to you?"

Eddie laid on his side on the bench and stayed curled up to stay warm, he saw Violet approach him as Eddie noticed she was suprised, he didnt respond to anything Violet asked or said he only looked at her with a slight frown, since Eddie has a hatred against mares, after a few seconds of silence he rose his head up and said with a quiet and possibly sore throat "...i hate you" and laid his head down

Seeing that Eddie wouldn't answer Violet, Code thought he would instead. "I can answer that Violet, but hold on for one second." He said as he walked over and grabbed that curtain he wrapped himself in earlier and brought it over and tossed it onto Eddie. "Here." He said to Eddie. Code then looked to Violet. "Long story short. I got into a fight with him. Chemm finished it by throwing a rock into his face. I messedwith him while he was dazed. He escaped the house and has probably been out in the storm til he showed up here." Code couldn't but grin as he told the story of what happened.

Chemm giggled nervously when Violet mentioned the holding of hooves. The fact she didn't think much of it left her very embarrassed. However, before she could respond to her assertion about Pyxel, she noticed Violet looking towards a familiar face... It was that dreaded grey pony she argued with way back when they first arrived at Echo Falls... She had an inner distaste towards him; he was pessimistic, rash, and hostile.

 

However, when she saw Eddie tired and worn, she couldn't help but feel slightly sorry for him. She trotted slowly up to Eddie. She wasn't sure what to say, especially after what happened earlier between them both. However, she decided. She spoke tenderly,

 

"Are... are you alright? I'm... I'm sorry about earlier. Here. You want this candy bar? I found it in my bag; it's the last of the bars I have."

"Ch... Well, I feel the same way!"-replied Violet to Eddie than turned her back at him. Code than explained everything and Violet was surprised about what happened while Pyxel and she was away. She glanced back at the grey pony who had such a serious injuries. Chemm offered her last candie bar to him. "He don't deserve it Chemm, at least he is so cuss." Violet pretend that she don't care about what will happen with him, but in real she was worry about him.

 

A sound of pounding came from upstairs, and it was getting louder. Violet was sure it was the storm that made the noise and also Code was upstairs and he didn't see anything mentionable so she just ignore it. She could bet that the others didn't even hear it. She felt so cold but she thought because they have left the door open. As she wanted to close it she noticed something in the fog but for just a second. "Were are in safe her"-said to herself and giggled nervously as she closed the door.

Eddie was still laying on the bench, but as Code tossed him the curtain he sat up and wrapped himself with it as he was looking down on the floor, Eddie didnt respond to what Code explained to Violet, he really didnt care.

Eddie rose his head up as he heard Chemm speaking, he gave alittle thought on what to respond to her, he did feel hungry but he sure as heck wasnt gonna die from half a day and half a night of not eating anything "....ssorry? whatever, you're just saying that because you want to impress your crush pyxel with your fake caring and sharing...thing, well its not going to happen, besides who knows you might of poisoned it"  as known before Eddie has a couple of mental issues and paranoia is one of them, he then heard Violet respond "good we both hate each other, i hope you die right infront of me, and yeah i dont deserve it, i dont deserve anything and thats a fact, who am i? a 17 year old low life thief, in other words im nobody" Eddie said both to Chemm and Violet

Pyxel raised a brow to what Eddie was saying.

"Wha- her crush on me?" He asked in a surprised tone and looked at Chemm. He couldn't believe it, someone liked him! And it was not in a friend kind of way. The only problem was, Pyxel never knew what to say to mares. So he awkwardly stood there, blushing a bit.

"Um... thanks?" Pyxel muttered and walked back to his seat. When there, he thought things over.

*What do I do now? Do I like walk besides her and bring some flowers? A song for her maybe? Was walking away from there a smart move?  Should've asked one of my friends before I guess...*

Code listened to what each of them were saying and to all of Eddie's insults. 'He still hasn't changed.' He thought to himself as Eddie revealed Chemm's crush of Pyxel to Pyxel himself. Pyxel got all confused and walked away. Code had mix feelings, on the one side, he felt sorry for the embarassment Chemm would feel, and on the other hand, Pyxel's reaction was kinda funny. Amongst all this, Code was starting to hear a faint pounding coming from above. He looked up and saw nothing, so it must have been coming from upstairs. He figured a close area of where the pounding was coming from and he followdd a path from the stairs and what he believed were the rooms and hallways and it was coming from the room that had been lit up. "Uhhh... guys?"

Chemm could see that eddie was really trying to deflect her care towards him; he looked so apathetic, so nihilistic. He couldn't believe in the power of friendship, and considering his difficult past, she could understand that. It was tempting for Chemm to shun him like she did before, but his words were not an expression of hate... they were an expression of pessimism... a pony bereft of hope. She responded to Eddie, still being tender and careful with her choice of words,

 

"Yes... yes I do have a crush on Pyxel. But I'm not doing this because of him. I still had a crush on him even when I fired back your anger towards me. i for one feel pity towards you. You're not worthless. You just think you are because of what other ponies say about you, me included. I'm sorry. every pony has their worth in gold, but it takes time to see that..."

 

Before Chemm could continue, Code noticed a sound coming from a door... A large pounding of sorts. Chemm instantly turned her head towards the door, wondering in fear on what exactly what was behind that wooden door...
