New Snakepony OC: Frost Bite

Hello everybody, I decided to make a new drawing tonight along with a new OC, Frost Bite! She's a naga or snakepony. I gave her this whole ice/snow/star motif too. I haven't ironed out her character much yet, but I'm sure she'll be great. Anyway, here's the drawing. I cntinued the trend of writing my characters' names in a thematic manner in their pictures. What do you think?

It actually looks pretty good! I find snake-ponies to be actually amusing to see, very unique too. I should call Chigens here....

Thanks! Yeah, I've been making OCs of all sorts of different unique species lately. My batpony OC, Vesper, in particular got really popular.I got inspired to make a snakepony from old ask ruby pinch blog posts and my friend's snakepony OC too. :)

 

Also, I imagined the  "Let our powers combine" sequence from Captain Planet when you summoned Chigens :lol:

Thanks! The idea was inspired by Hauteclaire's art (he's a famous brony artist who unfortunately severely injured his hand) and I got the colors basically to compliment my friend's OC, who is pink and purple. ^_^ The snakepony thing has a pretty decent following on other parts of the ponynet :lol: .

Hauteclaire made a blog called ask ruby pinch about Berry Punch's daughter Pinchy. I don't know if he still draws, but after hurting his hand, he shut down the blog.

 

I can kind of see how people relate Frost to Kaynah because Chigens is the local snakepony person. :P

Well, I will be honest here, it does look like a re-hashed Kaynah.

 

Ahh fair enough x)

 

It just reminded me of Kaynah. The belly design and scale designs are similar along with colour layout.

I'll have to look up Hauteclaire's art to see myself. Sad to hear about his hand though :c

Hopefully he can still do art...

 

Like Dawn Rider says here, the belly, scale, and color designs are quite similar.

 

The stars on yours are not so different from mine's diamond-like pattern. Same thing goes with the belly scaling Seen here for both examples:

The color scheme just seems like a toned-down version of mine. Going from orange -> slightly yellow on the torso and purple -> blue for the hair and tail, respectively. The belly scale coloring is also the same color...

As for the art itself, aside from what I have already mentioned up there, looks pretty good. Anatomy is alright (tongue, eyes, tail). Shading is pretty nice but, I dislike the green background you chose :mellow:

I don't see it. As far as I can see, the only similarity is the fact that they're both half snake. Colors, design, motif, etc. are all pretty different. It really would be impossible to mistake the two in a lineup :P

While there are some differences, mane/hair/wuteva @_@ obviously, eyes, I do have to agree with Dawn and Chigs.

Frostbite is not amused.

 

Anyway I quite like her as far as aesthetics go so far, as has been said the green background hasn't done any justice, and she does look like a less saturated version of Kaynah - however, I like Kaynah :P so yay!

Actually if you move the saturation up all the way, she looks a lot more like my friend's OC, Cascade, not Kaynah. Purple and blue and orange and yellow are next to eachother on the color wheel, but they actually are very distinct. Also, I found out that increasing the saturation of a picture like this is a complete eyesore :P It's so neon-y. :lol:  Even with the colors, the design is completely distinct for the body and mane and stuff. I guess people are so used to Kay that every snakepony will be considered like her :yay:

I was just going to say "I should tell Chigens to have a look at this" when I saw I was too late :P

 

Anyways, it looks great :) You can easily tell that it is ice/snow-related because of the color scheme. Good job :)
