Pony Profile Crests

Okay everypony, here's another piece I spent the day working on. My inspiration was almost like a military insignia, or faction crest. It was done in Photoshop with a Wacom Intuos 5 tablet.

 

So what do you guys think? Am I on the right track, or do I need to look for another approach?

 

Sorry if its too small..I forgot to save it as a copy, before exiting Photoshop.

I like it, but maybe you should try something like a shield shape, like the one linked below, to get the grey area reduced. Also, this may be personal preference but maybe consider taking the black outline of Flutter's head out I personally don't like it but I think you've got a cool idea

It looks pretty good, but i think the black background is a bit unfitting, and not quite the correct size to make sense with the crest placed of Fluttershy.

 

But your heading towards the right direction, Good job!

Well my original idea was to have the triangle be her cutie mark. I think I may try Rarity's profile, and have it on a diamond. As for the black to white background, I was going to do it as her colors, but they just seemed to make her blend in with it. Thanks for you input.

I was trying to go for something dramatic, but think the background would have been more fitting for something looking more realistic. Like something with a stone or metal looking texture. If I do try to do Rarity's next, I just may just put the background for her's as a light blueish color like her cutie mark.  Thanks for your kind words, and your input.

Just needs a few polishing and straight edges, and we got an improvement.

Thanks. I'm not use to using a digital tablet yet, let alone Photoshop. Like I said I may go back and try to redo it with a butterfly being the background (or is it setting for the crest) instead of a triangle. But thanks you for your comments. /)

Well here's my second attempt with my Fluttershy crest with the Butterfly instead of the Triangle. I know her mane looks rough. So what do you guys think?

I think these would work better as vectors, honestly. (If you're lacking a vectoring program, Inkscape is free and easy to use.)

These do look very nice though, and I look forward to seeing the rest of the Mane 6.

 

Thanks, I'll have to give that a try. While I can't get Inkscape (its only available on Windows, and Linux), I do have Adobe Illustrator, and I can get a copy of Sketchbook Pro too. So I'll give those a try. 

 

My next choice was Rarity..but with how her mane is styled, and colored, I may have to save her for another day.

Thanks, I'm trying thats for sure. I'm using an Wacom Intuos5 Medium touch pad (here's a link to show you what I mean: http://www.wacom.com/us/en/creative/intuos5-touch-m), but the computer I'm using is a Macbook Pro.

In all my experience in the internet, I've never seen that. Do you use it to draw stuff? That would explain pictures being "Hand drawn" It's all making sense now.

Yeah its what I use to draw, but my art skills are rusty to say the least. But I love my Intuos, even if I don't know how to really use it to its full potential.
