"Right." She sighed, "I dunno, most ponies usually thought I was too eccentric...weird...too happy. I like being happy, so I don't see what's wrong with it. They usually called me annoying for it." She looked down, but quickly smiled and looked back up. "It makes me really glad that you think otherwise of me...at least I think." She chuckled.

"Eccentric? You are unique. Full of life. I wish all the ponies I meet were just half as happy as you are." He smiled at her. "You are a joy to be around. Your happiness rubs off on to other ponies and makes them feel happy too! You made me happy after all."

 

Solar turned to the right and fallowed Cherry, not knowing what they may run into. He looked to Cherry again to check on the cat.

 

"See, your happiness has even rubbed off on him." He said with a smile.

Storm thought for a moment. "Hmm, before this, I was really bored sitting at home doing nothing but make friends with ponies that I'm already friends with. That probably didn't make sense, did it? Oh well. Not many ponies understand me anyway. Being here was a pretty good thing to happen to me!"

The unicorn understood. Well... he thought that he had the general idea behind what she was saying anyway - which was close enough. "Uh, kind of?" He said blankly and shook his head. "Wait, being here is good? I mean, I've been worse places... and the company's pretty good but on a scale of one to terrible? I'm not a big fan of the whole 'cant escape' part."

'Hey! You've stopped stammering every other word you say to her! Good job!' He thought in a sarcastic tone.

Cherry smiled happily and kissed the stallion on the cheek. "Nopony has ever said those things...I- Thank you. Really." She blushed nervously, "I'm not trying to turn you down or anything, but why be so nice to somepony you just met? I mean, usually that's me, but I'm just kind of a happy pony, it seems." She grinned defensively.

"My mother was the kindest pony I've ever known. I was always taught to be nice to everypony." He said with a smile. "You are just so fun to be around. It makes me forget about being a stuffy royal guard." He laughed.

 

"You are unique, and I like that. you are not afraid to speak your mind. You cheer up ponies that are feeling down. What else is there to look for in a pony? At first, I hate to admit it, I was afraid of you...But not in that way. I was afraid that I would say the wrong thing in from of the cute mare I met and not get to know her. You have shown me not to be afraid of what other ponies think, and go for it."

 

Solar began to blush before what he said next.

 

"I have made a lifelong friend and I'd like to...Date you?...If that's all right."

Cherry blushed quite blatantly, yet excitedly at everything the stallion said to her. She couldn't stop smiling. At his last sentence, she blinked in surprise. When she finally snapped out of her surprise, she cleared her throat, "Wow..." She said with a still surprised tone, "...you're so sweet."  She bounced happily, almost making the sleeping cat on her back fly off. He clung on with his claws, but it didn't hurt Cherry. She finally stopped her bouncing, "Oh! I would love to date you!" She grinned, "But...why don't we start right now?" She chuckled.

"Pft, everypony is fun here! So many new ponies, especially ponies I don't know! Don't be such a downer!" Storm said, taking a loop around the mansion twice before settling on a couch. "Aren't you excited to make friends? Or do you usually prefer not to..? I normally make friends wherever I go!" The mare squee'd.

Solar looked at Cherry with a look of relief and smiled at her. "That makes me happy. You make me happy." as his smile turned into a grin. His eyes got big and watery as he realized that he had asked his first mare out in his life. He hugged the mare, than realizing that it may not have been the time or place, slowly released his hold on her and turned red.

 

"I'm sorry. It's just that I'm so excited that your..you said you'd go out with me." He said with a smile. "Would you mind if I held your hoof as we walk down the hall? Look's like there's a light down there. Want to check it out?"

Rather than answer the stallion with words, she returned to him with another hug, and placed her hoof in his. "Let's get going then." The two made there way toward the light, and when they got closer, the cat on Cherry's back seemed to be enjoying himself. He laid down lazily across Cherry's back.

"I guess. Most of my friends just end up getting into trouble... and dragging me along for the ride."

 

Scribe neglected to mention that it was usually himself running headlong into said trouble, having little regard for himself, and his friends were the ones usually following and picking up the the pieces. It didn't seem important. He simply smiled instead.

 

"Huh, you're right. I guess we might as well make the most of what's here while we try to figure a way out."

Frost heard Storm talking to Scribe about being happy for making new friends. He shrunk back a little. "Friends. A luxury I wish I could have." he said in a hushed tone. He had never had a friend besides Tempest and Ivy. Nopony ever really had had conversation with him. He didn't mind, but he would have liked to if he could go in the past and actually talk to those ponies.

Solar blushed at first as Cherry hugged him back, however he was become more at ease about it. He had a happy smile on his face.

"Thank you. That put me at ease. I was afraid that I was going to make a fool of myself."

 

As the walked hoof in hoof, Solar noticed that the cat was sprawled out across her back.

 

"So, Did you think of a name for Kitty yet?"

"How come you never seem to have any emotion other than boredom? You don't seem like you're having fun, here, aren't you? Then I might as well try my best to lighten your spirits then, huh? Guess you're stuck with me!" Storm giggled, then looked around the corner to see Frost. He looked alone, so she did what she'd usually do: wave him over.

Frost looked up and saw Storm waving him over. He sported a half smile and walked over to them. "Heh, sorry I kinda got lost in thought over there." he said in a awkward, soft tone trying not to sound as worried as he really was on the inside of his mind. "Did you need me?" he asked

"What? No, not at all, I'm not bored I just, uh...."

 

'You know, you're allowed to use sentences that don't have 'uh, um and uhm' in them. It might make you sound less boring. And awkward. And maybe a little less stupid, but lets not get our hopes up.'

 

He smiled despite the metal lecture he was giving himself and prepared to explain the reasons behind his reserved speech when Frost was beaconed over.

 

"... I'll tell you later." He said quietly before waving over towards the stallion himself, feeling a little relieved to at least have said something, however pathetically vague. "Hey Frost! Come with us? You're looking a bit lost over there and I'd rather none of us were left alone around here."

"Yeah, Frost..! Haven't you made any friends here..?" Storm asked, her stomach grumbling. She winced, then quickly recovered. "Doesn't this mansion at least have food? I'm starving!" Storm said, standing up and trotting down the hall, looking around frantically.

Frost shook his head. "No, I've always preferred to be alone, being social was never really my strong suit." he said in a soft tone. "Not like I have a choose now with our little.....situation." he said looking around the hall when he heard Storm's stomach rumble and he let a small chuckle

They approached the end of the hall, where a torch above a large wooden door was lighting up the area quite brightly. 

 

She smiled at his last question, and stopped walking to think for a moment, "Hmm....nope. Maybe you should name him!" She grinned, and pondered the torch for a moment, "Hm...who do you think lit this?" A sort of worried curiosity came over her face.

"How about.....Lucky? Because of him, I met you, which in turn was lucky for me." He said with a smile.

 

"You know Cherry, I don't know." He said with a confused look on his face, "But there one way to find out." Solar pushed on the door and it opened. "There's nothing to be afraid of in here." He said to the mare without looking. "And if there is, I'll protect you."

 

"We'll be all right. I'll go in first. Just stay close, OK?"

"Lucky it is!" She squeaked happily.

 

She confidently followed the stallion into the room. Inside, there was a small library. It would be better to call it a study. There was a desk at one end of the room, and bookshelves on the sides. Piled up everywhere were books, scrolls, letters, and all sorts of writing. There were also a good bit of ink and quills laying around. "Oooooh..." Cherry had a curious look on her face as she stared at everything in the dimly lit room. The only light coming in the windowless space was that of the torch outside. Cherry turned around and looked at the top of the doorway from the inside of the room; there was another torch, just unlit. She turned to Solar, "Hey...think you could get the other torch from outside and light the one up here?" She smiled. "I bet you could. Ooh! I wish I could fly. Think you could fly me sometime?" Her smile turned into a nervous grin with a nervous laugh to match. "Oh! Too off topic, sorry...uhm, torch! That's right. We need light!"

"I tell you what, when we get out of this mansion, I'll see if I can barrow one of the chariots, and I'll fly you anywhere in Equestria you'd like." He said with a fain smile, knowing that that may be harder than he thinks to requisition one of the chariots.

 

"Right, the torch." he said as he flew up to the door and grabbed it with his mouth and lit the torch on the inside of the room before putting the one he had taken back outside the room.

 

"Let there be light!" he said jokingly as he returned.

"Thanks, cutie." She smirked.

 

She inspected most of the writing and books around her, most of it having to do with pony legends, or myths, or folktales. "Looks like somepony loved stories. A lot of them!" She looked around curiously once again, "Hm...see anything useful, or interesting? This seems like kind of a weird room."

"Don't be stupid, you've got us!" Scribe chuckled in response to Frost, taking after Storms advice and trying to behave a little more naturally. He peered around but couldn't discern anywhere that might have food.

 

"There's got to be, c'mon, I'm a little hungry too - let's find something to eat." He said, mostly to storm but directed at the pair collectively. "We could try upstairs?"

Storm looked around the hall curiously, and started to clutch her stomach as it was starting to ache horribly. She turned down a hall when the others weren't looking, and didn't notice, as such. She paid too much attention to her stomach rather than her friends. She eventually found the table with cobwebs from before, yet it didn't have cobwebs. It had several candles around the table, a vase with a rise in it. "This is really the same table? I'm impressed," Storm thought out loud to herself, sitting down at the table.

 

She looked around. "They should be here by now.." Storm thought worriedly, looking down the hall.
