duidamasterXD 9,627 September 12, 2013 Share September 12, 2013 (edited) , I've moved your thread to General Discussion, since it's not sharing any art made by you specifically, but having a 9/11 memorial thread seems appropriate today. Also, this is not a thread to debate about 9/11 in any fashion. Here is the place for remembering and paying tribute to those who died on 9/11, sharing any stories we have related to it, etc. If you want to do anything other than that, take it into the Debate Pit or leave it unsaid. Courageous Thunder Dash 7,824 September 12, 2013 Share September 12, 2013 For some reason, I didn't remember that today was 9/11. Quite strange, it has never happened to me before. It seemed just like another day in 2013, but this day shall never be forgotten. 1 Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeWg-TtBRMfqketa1ELyKGg Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/menelik-david-kenneth-cannady 2nd SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/thunder-dash-alternative/tracks Pony.fm: https://pony.fm/thunder-dash
Katana 298 September 12, 2013 Share September 12, 2013 Not out of disrespect for the many, many lives tragically lost on that day, but...my opinion is that, after due time, we SHOULD forget about 9/11. The whole reason that so many people conspired to cause such great harm to so many people is that we would live the rest of our lives in fear - constantly worrying about what angles of attack our enemies might next use. That fear has, in fact, led to so many of its own problems and dangers; it's impossible to say that the emphasis on security in America for the last ten years hasn't had some harmful effect. To put it simply, I want to prove to Al Qaeda and any other group believing such violence makes an impact. To say to them: No. It doesn't. 12 years later, even on the anniversary, very few people are even recalling your pathetic shouts of vengeance. We are capable of moving on, and there has been not a single lasting impact on our way of life. If anything, we're stronger.

We've moved on from others, like the OK City bombing, and Pearl Harbor. Sure, many more lives have been lost in this one attack, but what will it prove that we continue to honor an attack that changed our view on other countries?
Moonlight 7,286 September 12, 2013 Share September 12, 2013 I honestly had no idea it was even Wednesday...I thought it was Tuesday, but that's besides the point. What happened on 9/11 was downright awful. I was only around 3 years old at the time, so I don't remember a thing from my own point of view...I only know from eye witness accounts and such. But, it's so damn disgusting that some people feel the need to take the lives of innocent people who were going about their day as they normally would. That's all I will say. 2 matching setups with my bff pathfinder
Scootalove 10,689 September 12, 2013 Share September 12, 2013 I know that this day should have not been forgotten, but we should learn from our mistakes of security on that day. We have a lot of security at the airports but, they allow Swiss knives on airplanes. If we made mistakes in the past and don't learn from those mistakes, we will keep making the same mistakes. But, that day was a tragedy. Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules
Smarts 1,622 September 12, 2013 Share September 12, 2013 I'm glad I heard about it on the radio today otherwise I would have forgotten about it. Even though it happened years ago, it's always important to remember about it. It was a tragic day and many innocent people lost their lives. Mothers, fathers, friends, and family. What did they do to deserve that kind of fate? It's a shame. IF is best girl.
GhostPony750 959 September 12, 2013 Share September 12, 2013 I forgot. I don't want to be rude, but there have been much more worse, we should just forget this. And now the terrorists know they did something huge, they must feel proud of it. 12 years later, we still remember the event. And what's the point to celebrate this anyway, just to be sad every years at the same date? Yes this was terrible, but there have been much worse around the world.
scooterlou 23 September 12, 2013 Share September 12, 2013 Posted this on FB yesterday, figured I would share it here- In September of 2001, I was spiraling into depression - and on this day, 12 years ago, I was attempting to sleep through Drawing 110. However, my phone started ringing around 9 am, and rather than unplug it entirely, I picked up the phone - it was my friend Sarah calling, and I remember exactly what she said - "Turn on the TV." And I did, and that's pretty much where I stated the rest of the day, watching the screen, numb with horror. My phone rung off the hook that morning - family members and friends calling to make sure I was okay, to connect, to feel a little less alone on this frightening day. I spent the day in a grep*sailormoon AIM chat, talking to people from all over the place - one girl's uncle was a firefighter in the city, and she couldn't get a hold of him and was afraid he was dead. Others shared their experiences - they watched it on the news, they were near the city and saw the planes go overhead, they were worried about loved ones... I remember realizing my dad was supposed to be in the city that week, and often went to the World Trade Center for work, and panicked until I managed to get a hold of him on the phone (he ended up going back home two days early, otherwise he would have been there). The thing I remember most about September 11th is how everyone came together to support one another - people who hardly knew each other were reaching out to others and helping them. No matter whether it was at ground zero, or online, or anywhere... we were there for each other.I won't get into my feelings about what's happened since then, or my opinions about our country - but I will remember, and I will especially remember the spirit of caring, of community, of togetherness that came to be in light of that horrible event.
