Pony doodles and sketches

So I decided to come and put some recent sketches up on the art forums since you

guys will probably end up seeing a lot of me cx Since my style is still new I have been

trying to just sketch out more poses, though I like flying poses the best.

These two lined pictures were designs I did for friends, and I was honored that they let

me take an idea and just run with it. Both were very happy with the results which made me giddy.

This next page is just random sketches and sort of a pose pratice sheet I guess.
Just seeing how my style looked in different ways, though I have the tradtional
picture of Pinkie floating away with balloons. I think is is some rule that everyone

has to at least draw one of those cx

I am trying to do my pose pictures as opposed to just standing. I seem to

have a harder time with quad characters when it comes down to it. Besides

obviously real horses do you guys find anything else helpful when sketching out poses?

I worked more on refining the Twilight sketch and I really do love this sketch ;3;
But, do her wings look right to you guys? I have looked at wing tutorials before
but I always seem to have trouble with the angle of them.

Outline, I need to work out the detail on her wings but does eveyrhting look
alright to you guys? Sometimes when my sketches go through the line art
phase I end up messing them up :x

I must say that I do like your style, as it certainly has its own feel but still very relatable to the show's aesthetic.  Honestly, it feels rather familiar but I cannot pinpoint why.

Varying poses can be quite difficult to pull of convincingly, especially with these types of characters.  Besides looking up references of various animals, which is often a huge help, I also find it equally helpful to look up human poses as well as you can often modify them to a character like a pony or whatnot.  There are also comics, animations and several other sources that you can find inspiration through and gain new ideas and insights from them.

At any rate, I wish you the best of luck and I do hope to see more of your work around here!

Well I do wander around a lot of pet sites maybe that is why? :B

I do love doing frame by frame for animations, perhaps I will dive back into that. Thanks for the suggestions!

I hope to get the poses consistent, so from one to the other the joints still look like they are in the same place lol

You are more than welcome.  Consistency in any manner is something that I am still struggling to gain control of in drawing but that is what practice is for, I suppose.  From what you have shown so far, you seem to be fairly consistent with anatomy and proportions, so I believe you have very little to worry about.

And you do frame-by-frame animation?  That is so something I have not attempted in such a while but now you have me wanting to jump back into it as well.

Yeah, especially during fight scenes when there are cool start and end poses.

Of course you get the exaggerated poses in between but it is still fun reference c;

I started school wanting to be an animator but I really am not good at animation lol

This are some amazing sketches. You should get around doing my ponysona :V

Your variety of poses and angles amaze me so. Keep up the good work!

Haha, thank you very much cx There are a couple of those sketches I want to turn into full pictures,

and who knows I may end up doing another big page of sketches.

Nice style you got there, and you pull it off so well. I really do hope to see more from you. I can't see anything wrong pose-wise or anatomy-wise. And if I had to pick a favorite, it would have to be the pony with a bow in it's tail, how adorable!

Twilight there is beautiful.  :D ...It reminds me I have to practice more. x-x A lot more.

Thanks ^^ I do still like the bows that Gen 1 wore and that they have chunky manes.

I still need more practice too, maybe one day I will actually be able to draw in the show's style.

Meh, the shows style is overrated. It lacks fluidity most of the time, in my opinion. I've been trying to make a style all my own but I can't break the 'shows style' into anything decent.

I seem to have made my own style on accident just by giving them more deer - like necks when I sketch them cx

My hang up with the show style seems to be that I can't draw their bodies because they are small and squished together.

I always want to draw a longer back like horses actually have. I like the show style but I guess it just isn't my thing.

Woooowowowoooow. Really digging you're art style ahhhh. *u"

Your sketches are suuper cute as well ommg. Ahh yeah I used to do the side pose a lot too but now it's nothing but angles perspective and movement for me. (I'm still working out the kinks though)

Oh geez why didn't I see all this earlyerrrr. D:

I'll have to watch you on dA (If I didn't already).

Thank you, and don't worry about it cx I want to do more action poses, I have gotten better at it with human characters.

Especially fighting poses just because they are fun and I like to pretend I can draw weapons.
