My little...fake pony?

Edit: I didn't want to make another topic for him so I decided to add new pictures to this one ^^

 

So this is the character I have been working on for a couple days now, and yeah he started life as something else before he became a pony. I am going to list his back story info in case people want to know. However, I wanted to post this guy here to see what people think c:

 

 

Backstory: It is of common belief by those who knew him that Trickster did not

start out his life as a pony, but as some sort of bird creature that lived in the Everfree Forest.

When Equestria was young and the elements of harmony were being used by the princesses to bring balance and peace many of the 'darker' races were pushed back from the light. Trickster was young then and seeing what Celestia and Luna brought for their people he became jealous. He wanted what they had, and he didn't just want his own version he wanted to steal exactly what they had. Their gifts and magic, they were wondrous things and Trickster had always been good at getting what he wanted from other creatures.

It is said that Trickster went to an old spirit with a request to become one of the new creatures. His wish was granted but not without a cost, he looks pony enough but his wings and horn do not quiet look right. It is also said in old stories that he was unsettling to ponies who looked at him. That was until he could catch their eye, then some said they couldn't look away. If Trickster could hold you under his spell long enough he could steal the ability he wanted making you forget how to use your own magic of skills in the process. But he was no unbeatable.

If a pony became aware that magic was being used on them they could break his spell. In addition what he was trying to steal would be returned to you, and because Trickster is a coward when faced with knowledge of his tricks he would usually turn tail and run.

The OC looks very good and it's not something that looks totally ridiculous like many other people's OCs. Simple colors and a simple but original design. Exactly how I want it! You're a great artist and the drawing is well made so I don't have anything to complain about. I am not a big fan of the horn design (I know it's supposed to be like that, I'm just saying :3 ) or the........*google translate*........popliteuses..., but that's just my personal opinions of course.

The OC looks very good and it's not something that looks totally ridiculous like many other people's OCs. Simple colors and a simple but original design. Exactly how I want it! You're a great artist and the drawing is well made so I don't have anything to complain about. This would make a great villain, and a decent OC, but this is one of the ones that is only acceptable as an enemy.

Well he is basically an outsider so yeah enemy is where he falls under titles.

Anyway, what I was trying to express was my utter adoration for your pony drawing. Or faux-pony drawing, as it were. I especially love the proportions in the face (big pony ears are Best Pony Ears), and how clean and polished it looks while still retaining that hand-drawn feel. And the color scheme is fantastic, too.

 

Basically, I love it to bits.

I'm really glad that you like him, he got more work put into him than I originally planned but it payed off for me. He helped me learn how to draw better wings, though I still need work on drawing feathers ouo

Yeah, wings are tricky. Eventually, I realized that because I didn't know how to draw them, I was too closely mimicking the show's wings, and their "tubular" look did not mesh with my style. So I just went off and did settled on this weird, pointy looking style of wings that fit much better. Still look weird, but at least they look like they fit.

Thanks, I wanted to give him something unique as a power but not something that was too powerful I guess XD

that's awesome! I can never find anyone to draw my OC because either A: they say they will start but they never actually finish or B: they just outright refuse because they complain about his backstory and cutiemark story being too gruesome...so as a result, I only have one finished and colored artwork of him...its a real pain!

If you are talking about Crimson Grinn I don't see anything gruesome about his cutie mark, and when

it comes to drawing just a shot of a character I don't see how backstory matters XD But it happens and I

have set up art trades with people before and they never finish either.

Well his backstory is gruesome but you don't have to draw that exact pose for the character, and I am not taking requests right now. Did some the last couple days and had my fill of ponies for a bit.

Fascinating character!  The drawings really match his backstory and personality!  Or vice versa.   I like his curved horn.  It's unique, and adds a...well...twist to his appearance that is very fitting.  His power sits neatly on the knife-edge of being over- and under-powered.  Probably better for fanfics than RP's, because in RP's he might either just mow through everypony nomming on their powers like Sylar from Heroes, or, if the other players are inexperienced, end up being under-powered ("Bloodletter Knifehooves senses wat u r doing!"  "So does Princess Everymagic!"  "Yeah, so does Glimmer Powderhorn!"  "Glimmer?  I didn't see you're OC in the OOC thread."  "What's 'OOC?'").  I wouldn't really call that a flaw in his design though.

Thank you, I have this love for anti-heroes and the classic trickster characters XD I don't think I will ever actually RP my ponies unless it is with friends anyway. I am awful with group RPs and I agree with you that he could easily get out of hand if he came up against the right characters, lol

It just occurred to me that he can't even introduce himself to anypony without lying, because "Hi, I'm Trickster" would tend to get in the way of pulling a good con.   Nice touch, if that was intentional. I think it would be fun to RP with him, though I might be inclined to dig out my gaming dice and use them for Will and Intelligence rolls as a way to undermine my biases as a player.  An interaction between him and Sunyatay Sutra could be pretty interesting.  Her 'talent' is uncontrolled invisibility and intangibility.  It would would be devastating in Trickster's hooves, if a pony doesn't have to see him in order to have their powers drained.  He'd probably have a pretty hard time getting her to look him in the eye though.  As to whether she'd figure out/sense what he was doing, or be able to look away if she did, that'd be what I'd be inclined to roll for.

 

If you do enter an RP with him, or write any fanfics about him, please let me know.  I'd like to participate, or read.
