Rainbow Dash stands there for a good while with her mouth gaped open

 

"Nova...I....I..."

 

As she starts talking a loud sound is heard and then gasps followed by loud shouting

 

"YOU MOTHERBUCKER"

 

Rainbow Dash looks over to see a very angry Rainbow Boom barreling towards Nova

 

"I'M GOING TO RIP YOUR THROAT OUT AND SHIT DOWN YOUR NECK NOVA"

 

Rainbow Dash flys and tackles Rainbow Boom

 

"WHAT IN EQUESTRIA DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING?!"

 

"Get off me Dashie, i'm going to kill that little pathetic excuse of a pegasus!"

 

"No you aren't Boomie! Your not killing anyone, what the..."

 

Mr. and Mrs. Cake walk in followed by Pinkie Pie and intervene

 

"Alright get up you two and get out of here, no violence or alcohol allowed during Pinkies Parties!"

 

"Nova, you need to get out of here, when Boomie gets mad he..."

 

Before Dashie could finish Rainbow Boom erupts out from under her and rushed towards Nova at a speed never though possible and grabs nova by the neck

 

"Have fun back at the hospital Nova"

 

Before Nova can respond he is thrown to the ground by a raging Rainbow Boom beaten for what seems like hours until he loses consciousness

 

"Boomie...what...why..."

 

Rainbow Dash starts cursing as the very drunken Rainbow Boom flys away leaving the aftermath of what just happened with police and ambulance sirens closing in

 

"BOOMIE GET BACK HERE!"

 

Just then Rainbow Dash takes off after Rainbow Boom

 

"What in the hay are you doing Dashie?"

 

"What the buck just happened back there?"

 

"I did what had to be done"

 

Rainbow Boom then leaves Rainbow Dash in the dust as he flys away with the speed from the sonic rainboom he created

 

"Well...time to get back to Nova then, i'll look for that idiot later."

 

Rainbow Dash arrives back at Pinkies Party only to find Nova being taken in a stretcher

 

"How bad is he doc?"

 

"I'm not a doctor young lady, are you his friend?"

 

"Well...you could say that"

 

"Did you see what happened?"

 

Rainbow Dash though for a second

 

"No, sadly i didn't."

 

"Please come with us, we need someone to be marked down as his contact."

 

"Are we going to the hospital? Is he that bad?"

 

Rainbow Dash starts to look very worried and beings sobbing again

 

"I'm not sure whats wrong yet but it looks like hes going to be fine, just please come with us."

 

Rainbow Dash and co. arrive at the hospital

 

"Doc we need an ICU room ready stat!"

 

"What happened?"

 

"Mrs. please stay here"

 

Dashie is left in the waiting room while the doctors go into the ICU

 

"Well he seems to have two broken bones, 4 cracked ribs, both eyes are going to be black, and something we can't explain happened to his head."

 

"What do you mean?"

 

"I don't know...it seems as if something knocked his head back into place rendering his wings useful."

 

"Were they not already?"

 

"We pulled his records back from 3 years ago and found he had lost his flying ability."

 

"...and now they magically work?"

 

"That is correct, we don't know why but it seems he has control over them once again."

 

"Place him into a bed and let him rest, also let that young lady stay by his bedside...we don't need any more crying girlfriends or whatever she is in the waiting room."

 

Dashie is told to report to room B17 if she wished to wait by Nova Flyers bedside

 

3 days of waiting and constant worrying Dashie is finally told the extent of Novas injuries but is also told the good news

 

"But...thats..."

 

"Impossible, yes we know but it seems to have happened. Please give Nova 3 more weeks of recovery before we can clear him. Has he awoken at all?"

 

"No...hes just been sleeping."

 

"Well you can leave at anytime."

 

"I know...i will stay here."

 

"As you wish, he also has another visitor coming up."

 

"Wait...who?"

 

"It says his name is Rainbow Boom, are you two related?"
 

"No we aren't."

 

"Ah well here he is, i have to go, I'll be back in a bit to check on Nova."

 

Rainbow Boom enters the room leaving Rainbow Dash's mouth gaping once again

 

"You've really got to stop doing that heh heh."

 

"what in the hay are you doing here?"

 

"checking on our friend"

 

"OUR friend?"

 

"sshh you'll wake him heh heh"

 

"shut your trap, i should pummel your face in right here and land you in a bed next to Nova"

 

"You know i don't hit mares Dashie and you also know i won't turn you in so if you feel thats the best way to handle this then go ahead."

 

Rainbow Boom stared at Rainbow Dash with a cold hard stare

 

"ehhh....i'm not going to hit you Boomie, you know that"

 

"Yes i do heh heh."

 

"Why are you even here?"

 

"Did my plan work?"

 

"What plan?"

 

"Well for starters are you in love with him?"

 

"Well...i don't know..."

 

"Oh please, the guy reserves his whole life for you and your saying you don't love him?"

 

"well..."

 

"Secondly, his wing power is back is it not?"

 

"How did you..."

 

"I knew why his wings weren't working Dashie, its basic biology"

 

"Huh...what?"

 

"His brain stem connecting his spinal cord to his brain that allowed information to pass through his neck and down to his brain was never severed, he'd be dead otherwise. It was just an inch to far right, rendering it useless as far as wings go."

 

"How did you..."

 

"I'm not stupid Dashie, i know what the problem was i just didn't know how to fix it until last night."

 

"What?"

 

"His brain was never damaged either and he never had any mental problems, his lateral ventricles were in fine shape and his subarachnoid space was not damaged or swollen. I know this from the CAT scan performed 3 years ago. I mean these doctors really need better training if they can't figure this out..."

 

"So wait..."

 

"Yes i planned all this out Dashie. I knew if he lost it an inch to the right then if i hit him the same way and it moved an inch to the left he would be fine."

 

"How did you know it wouldn't kill him?"

 

"Well his Meninges would protect his brain from my blows."

 

"What?"

 

"Just now i was the reason he can fly. Well that and my 3 years of studying."

 

"You spent 3 years..."

 

"Studying to give him his flying ability back? Why yes i did."

 

Nova begins to stir

 

"Well here he comes, i got to go. Don't tell him about this conversation and thanks for not reporting me to the police, i thought for sure i was bucked. Theres a reason i said I did what had to be done Dashie."

 

"but..."

 

"See you in 2 months at the competition!"

 

Rainbow Boom flys out of the hospital as Nova wakes up

 

"Uh...Hi Nova."

Nova gently lifted his head up and tried his best to focus on the made beside his bed, but felt a bit dopey. Now here's a scene I was hoping to never see again... He groaned and looked at Rainbow. "Ugh... what am I doing here now?" He asked, but wasn't sure he wanted to hear the answer.

Rainbow Dash stifles her laughter

 

"Uh...kind of a long story heh heh."

 

"But do you remember anything that happened at the party? Like what you said to me specifically?"

 

Rainbow Dash moves closer and sits on the foot of his bed and touches his hoof clearly thankful that hes awake

"I remember telling you why I had been acting indifferent towards Rainbow Boom, and then that idiot came and pretty much buried me into the ground. That is about what I got out of it." Nova stated, and gave Dash a weak smile as she sat on the end of the bed.

Rainbow Dash smirks as he calls Rainbow Boom an idiot

 

"I wouldn't be so quick as to call him an idiot Nova, i mean..."

 

She then remembers Rainbow Boom told her not to tell him about the conversation they had

 

"Uh...actually yeah, buck that guy. I mean he did land you in here."

"Rainbow I wouldn't make it a habit to be lying to me all the time. Not very healthy for the relationship, you see." He replied mockingly. "But seriously, you can tell me Dashie, I can take it. Surely you know I've survived much worse things than whatever could possibly have to say to me."

"Listen Nova... you'll find out in good time. But buck Rainbow Boom that guy landed you in the hospital and now you have to stay in here for 3 weeks. Why wouldn't i tell him to go buck himself?"

 

Rainbow Dash begins to look nervous but senses Nova is not buying it

"I was being serious when I said that, Rainbow. Stop it right now. Please. Tell me what's going on here. Unless I was correct in assuming I don't mean that much to you... I did sort of just assume that, I suppose." He looked down at the bed, feeling a bit hurt after saying that to her.

"You need to rest Nova, i'm going to go for now but i'll be back here in 3 weeks when your not doped out on drugs or whatever they have you looped on right now."

 

Rainbow leans in leaving only inches between their snouts

 

"I promise i'll be back."

 

She leans in and kisses him before she leaves

"You still owe me big time for lying to me!" He yelled at Rainbow as she left the room. The only reason he hadn't been desensitized by her actions was all the pain killers he had been given. It took a bit of time for it to set in but after a few minutes he realized what she had done and he soon laid his head back on the pillow and smiled. She actually likes me. Nova let that thought sink in. Shame I'm on so much morphine or I probably would've been able to enjoy that.
