Why was a school age pony working at a hospital in the middle of the night?

This was something that just suddenly clicked for me. It makes sense for the parallel to the Daring Do story to have them escape by getting past the smallest and least threatening thing blocking them. However, a pony that young should be in school.

On a completely unrelated note, don't her eyes looked a little derped?

 

Looking at her, she's just maybe a TAD bigger than the CMC, and she has a similar cutie mark as the other nurses, Granted, she may be an intern, or just volunteering time or her mother also works at the hospital or whatever the case may be, but still young fillies need their rest. Rainbow Dash breaks in in the middle of the night. They shouldn't give a child the overnight shift.

 

Why she's working there kinda harkens back to a theory I had in another topic, where I asked if there was anything beyond elementary school. My theory was that it wasn't really necessary, as given the different structure of the pony world, once you have your cutie mark that's usually where you'll find your job opportunity. All that's really required to be learned is writing, reading, and math. So maybe she was just that advanced, but still, again, why does a child have an overnight shift?

Not exactly. I just keep having thoughts come up of things that perplex me. It's not look I'm going through the episodes and analyzing for stuff that doesn't make sense. They just suddenly come to me, these lightbulb moments. And if the thought is there, why not bring it to the forums? That's what you awesome people are here for, right?

All of the nurses have the same cutie mark design, though with different colors. It's a Red Cross symbol with hearts in the corners.

That's kind of an interesting thought, since actual ponies are basically midget horses. So if she were a midget pony, she'd basically be a midget of a midget...is the term midget considered offensive? I get the feeling I should be saying "little ponies". Or perhaps she was just the runt of the litter...do ponies often birth in litters, or do they normally carry one foal at a time, as humans? The Cakes had twins, but is that common in pony society?

 

...This is pretty much what it's like being in my head. Tangents upon tangents.

 

ANYWAY, this particular pony didn't register as "filly" in my mind when I first saw the episode, I just kinda figured she was an abnormally short mare. If you consider how much variation there is in stallion bodies, it's fair to expect there'd be some mares of unusual build as well. Though it is altogether possible she's a younger mare, possibly a med intern as Scoots suggested.

Well my theory is, once one get's a cutie mark they try and get training in work that represents their cutie mark. So she is in training to be a nurse and is just doing that night porcine of work, that comes when u are a nurse.

Maybe she was a full grown mare, that was turned into a filly by Discord and for whatever reason she never reverted back once he was re-imprisoned in stone by the Mane Six?
