Clockwork's smile had faded almost entirely. He trotted over to the door and opened it. Holding it aside.

"Well, I appreciate everypony coming together here, I do hope the information I have given you will be helpful in your searches. I bid you a very fond farewell for now, Sidesplitter. If any of you should require my assistance at any time, feel free to drop in. I will likely be here most of the day."

Midnight began walking toward the door as well. "I thank you, Mr. Green, your help is greatly appreciated. I must be on my way though, I have a lot to clean up." His expression was a forced smile, feeling again, the pain of his loss. "If I learn anything further, I will let you know. I know you must be as worried as I am."

With that, he walked out, following the street back toward the market.

She decided to keep an eye on Muddle's shadow that seemed to have a will of her own. In the meantime she too needed to rest... but preferred to crash at someone else's home.

"If you don't mind i'd like to crash with one of you... not to say anything that i'm afraid but if you ask me it isn't safe to stay alone this time. We'll be safer in numbers."

"If any of you should require my assistance at any time, feel free to drop in. I will likely be here most of the day."

 

Muddle started walking towards the door, so she could follow Sidesplitter. She passed Clockwork on the way out and gave a terse goodbye. "Most of the day... got it. w-I'll try to be around..."

While Muddle was walking out the door her shadow kept eyeing Clockwork and Selune. "This pony still doesn't look like an idiot, why would he fall for Muddles' lies; and the one that said I was magic, @, I'll have to be careful. I can live with ponies seeing a moving shadow. We could call it a trick or blame the lighting, but..."

Sidesplitter, followed by Muddle, both trotted out of the old building and back onto the streets of Dodge City. She could tell Muddle wasn't the type of mare to be comfortable in large crowds, so she kept a good distance to give her a little space while they headed to the hotel.

 

"So," Sidesplitter began, "Did you mention where you were from?"

Muddle's attention was else when Sidesplitter spoke, and she slightly jumped when Sidesplitter asked where she was from. "Huh, what? Oh where did I come form? I came from Manehatten, but I was raised in ponyville." She noticed the distance between the two and decided to catch up, so she wouldn't have to speak so loud. It was only one mare after all.

"Manehatten, huh? Great place, bigger buildings, heh. I myself grew up in Fillydelphia for a good amount of my life, before I began my career as a comedian and toured for a while. After roaming most if Equestria, I decided to settle in Ponyville. I obviously still travel a lot, but it's nice to be able to stay somewhere and rest for a while."

 

She noticed Muddle had closed the gap she left for her. "Guessed I figured her wrong a little" she thought.

Clockwork returned Muddle's curious glances with a cool gaze, his expression was knowing, and unnerving. He knew she was hiding things, and kept his eye fixed on her as she left.

 

Midnight stopped hearing Selune speak. "You can stay with me, Selune. I agree, none of us are safe alone. I know some tricks to keep us on the high grounds against intruders."

"Oh a comedian, I think I like mare already." Her shadow nudged her side a little bit, causing her to slightly move left. "Come on tell her to tell some jokes." Muddle responded with a thought, "Can we not, I mean were having a ni-." "Either you can ask and she say no, or I will start telling a few 'jokes' of my own."

 

Muddle quietly sighed to herself, so the mare wouldn't notice, "It must be nice, huh?" She realized she had spoken out loud again, and quickly tried to cover up her mistake. She smiled and said, "I mean being a comedian and all, but your right. A place to stay is nice... Sorry if this is out of the blue, but know any good jokes?"

Sidesplitter was suprised when Muddle veered over to the left suddenly. She also seemed to be talking to herself again. Why she was always talking to her shadow as well intrigued her, but only enough to think Muddle might not be the sharpest crayon in the box. Then again...

 

"Jokes? Let's see..." She searched her memory. "Ok, so a young mare and stallion are both getting ready for a party. The stallion goes and waits in line to pick up his tux from the dry cleaners. Then he goes and gets in line to pick out flowers for her. After a long time, he gets to the party, and shows up with his tux on, flowers, and red drinks for him and for her. The mare asks, "What took you so long?" The stallion replies, "Sorry, I was waiting for the punch line!"

 

Not her best work, but surely good enough from out of the blue in her opinion.

Neon looked over a muddle and noticed she seemed to be talking to herself, other ponies noticed and mentioned that her shadow looked different, Neon thought so to but didn't say anything...

 

When ponies started leaving Neon thought about what she was going to do, she had been staying at a old hotel cause it was the only one she could afford at the moment, but the place freaked her out and it would be even more freaky now that she knows more about these disappearances.

 

She looked over at Clockwork "Hey, so, i was just wondering if maybe i could stay here...I would stay at my hotel but, its old a creepy and i'm pretty sure its haunted" Neon laughed a bit "It was the only hotel i could afford, but! tomorrow i should be getting payed from a couple of DJing jobs, so, i can stay at a nicer hotel...And...like whats her name said..." Neon thought for a moment on what her name was then remembered "Selune said it would probably be safer to stay in numbers" Neon wondered if she really should be asking to stay with Clockwork, since she did just meet him but...he seemed pretty nice and it would probably only be for 1 day

Muddle lightly giggled at the joke. "The punch line." Her shadow was laughing slightly louder than a giggle. It seemed to be content with what it heard, and pressed Muddle no further. As she was giggling, she started to wonder more about the mare talents. "So why did you choose comedy as a career, besides your cutiemark of course." She asked.

Clockwork smiled at Neon, running a hoof through his mane. "I'd be delighted to have you stay. It's true that you would be safest with at least a partner for the night to watch out for you. Safety in greater numbers. And like Mr. Scribbler, I too have some tricks up my sleeve, now that I expect something to happen. I am much more prepared in recent days for such an event."

Sidesplitter grinned, glad to see some cheer, considering their current situation with the kidnappings and all.

 

"Well, it might sound cliché, but I discovered my talent at no where else than the talent show, back when I was a filly. My grandma always said I had a good sense of humor growing up, and I considered myself pretty entertaining with my friends, so I tried out for the show. Sure enough, the crowd was in stitches! ...at least that's how I chose to remember it. Anyways, I had noticed a flash behind me walking back home, and what do you know, this baby appeased right there." She raised her flank a bit for emphasis. "After that, I perfected my art, practicing all sorts of comedy styles, particularly majoring in stand up. And that's basically how I decided to be a professional comedian."

Clockwork chuckled at the thought of being compared to a mad scientist. "It's funny you should mention my likeness to a mad scientist. I've been called one ever since I chose to become an inventor. And though I've heard that there is a hint of madness in a genius, it would be rather vain of me to assume such a high opinion of my intelligence." He smiled warmly "You can stay in Nova's room, I'll show you to it." He walked towards the stairwell on the left of the room, and began to climb the stairs.

Scribbler shook his head. "No, we lived apart, it wasn't going to be very long before I moved in with her though. I live a couple blocks around the corner from here. Her apartment is just down the street, but I must go there first. I need to repair it, and try to find something that could help me figure out who it was. Really, it's no problem, Selune, I'm glad to have a friend in this, and we'll both be better off in this city if we stick together."

He began walking up the street slowly, allowing for Selune to catch up to him.

"I think i kind of know how you feel... i remember being apart from one of my childhood friends Terra Lionmane... i think i mentioned him before. We got separated afer i left Manehatten... i... might have had a filly crush on him. But i grew out of it... funny... i will help you find Sunset, NONE keeps their loved ones away from those who love them."

Midnight felt happy to have such a caring pony by his side in this. He thought to himself about sunset, his heart sinking, fearing what could have happened. Selune's hoof patted his back, making him feel some small comfort. He smiled at her, a tear rolled town his face.

"Thank you, Selune, you're a good pony." He walked along with her to the corner, and turned left. "Sunset and I met on a beach as the sun was setting. Somewhat ironic isn't it? I remember her sitting, holding one of her enchanted candles, and she looked over her shoulder at me and I knew she was the one.." A large apartment building stood a few doors down. "That's her building there. I hope we find something of use. I cannot lose her, I don't know what I'd do.."

Neon laughed "Well, you have to be pretty smart to make those wings! How do they work anyways?" She asked then followed Clockwork to the room she would be staying. "And...again, i'm sorry about your assistant...I hope we will be able to find out what has been happening to these ponies"

Clockwork grinned, feeling happy to have someone interested in his work. "I'm sure we will, Neon. I have every faith in the party to find these unfortunate ponies. We have quite the arsenal of unique talents at our disposal now."

He opened the door to Nova's room, and stopped to hold it, letting Neon enter first. "The wings are actually a part of my body. They were surgically implanted into my shoulders, with the assistance of Nova and her medical knowledge. I control them the same way a pegasus would, except the tendons and bones that connect the wing are made from alloys and metal instead of organic material." He extends a wing out, admiring his work once again. "Yes, one of my greatest inventions yet. But nothing compared to what I have down on the shop floor right now. That machine will bring many new things into realization."

 

The room was fairly large for an apprentices room. The bed looked quite comfortable, and was neatly made. A large window overlooked the street in front of the shop, and there was an old oak chest of drawers, which likely contained Nova's things.

"I hope you find it to your liking. You may stay as long as you need, er.. until Nova returns of course." His expression changed momentarily, looking down, then back to Neon, smiling again.

Neon walked into the room and looked around, it was pretty nice...Much better then the hotel she had been staying at. She looked over at Clockwork as he explained his wings "They are surgically implanted? Wow...That's sorta creepy but, pretty awesome" Neon looked at Clockworks wings as he extended them out. She thought it was so cool how he was able to make wings that worked. Neon sat on the bed, it was pretty comfy. She looked up at Clockwork and smiled "Thanks for letting me stay here"

Clockwork looked at Neon, standing before him "You're most welcome, my lady.. y-you really think I'm.. creepy?" He seemed to be taken back by the comments a bit. Though she seemed interested enough, the word had come up more than once, and he'd begun to question himself.

@@Midnight Scribbler, Selune saw his tears... she had uncanny eyes that could notice even the smallest detail. The pony was emotionally charged at this moment... and she'd best do her best to boost his confidence while not calling him weak. She took a small box of tissues and gave him some while looking the other way. "I envy her... i wish i had a stallion like you... never settled in one place long enough to fall in love."
