The planet on which Equestria is established.

According to your perspective:

- What name should receive the planet where Equestria is established?

- Would you say this planet is bigger/smaller than Earth? Or does it have the same size than our planet?

- Is it possible, at least for you, that this planet has more flora than Earth?

- Do you consider its chemical composition in atmosphere is quite different from Earth?

I'm not saying this is canon but I've read a fanfic describing equestria suprsingly earth like but with with a bit lighter gravity, so I think it's smaller then earth. Also it almost does look like earth so I think it does also have more flora since "humans" haven't messed it up.

I think I should call it, Equesto.

I have a feeling that the planet name would be some sort of horse pun. Wouldn't surprise me. I'm thinking it may be a bit smaller or about the same size as Earth. I will say it has more Flora than Earth because humans have destroyed lots of Flora.

I've seen several fics call the planet "Equus", which is the genus name for most equines including zebras and donkeys. It's still technically a horse pun so I'm sticking with it. As far as the planet goes, I'm pretty sure it would be largely earth-like in composition, unless Equestrians breath a mixture hydrogen or nitrogen instead of oxygen. Flora...I wouldn't say they have more, but they certainly have interesting varieties of plant life, such as the poison joke and just about anything that grows in the Everfree forest.

I like the idea of calling the planet Equus. However, as to the nature of the planet, it seems largely Earth-like. And I would point out from the point of view of astronomy, a planet can only be so much smaller than the Earth. If I were to use IRL examples, one of the reasons Mars can't sustain life is because it cannot maintain an atmosphere. It's too small. And we know an atmosphere of some sort is essential for life. So, size matters with planets.

Another essential aspect of a life-supporting planet, from what we know, is that it needs molten material within it, so that a magnetosphere can be generated, preventing harmful cosmic radiation from striking the planet.

So, I would posit that it's like Earth in almost every respect, because as far as current science knows, only Earth-like planets can support complex life. You can have simple archaebacteria on more extreme planets, but no more than that really.

Food for thought: maybe... Equestria IS Earth... But then again, I would hate it if there were any kind of post-apocalyptic themes. I would like to think that Equestria is some planet very far away which, through various chains of events, ended up supporting life, independently of any connection to Earth.

I believe that the planet that Equestrian is on is Equine. Why? Horse pun.

The size I believe should be smaller. For some reason, I do not know why, but it just fits.

Considering humanities mass-murdering rampage of anything not human? Why yes!

Mmm, no as there are trees and trees produce oxygen! The atmosphere must be relatively the same.
