Only a flock of butterflies stopped a Junior Flight Camp fatality. Scary.

If you look at the area around the camp, there are scattered clouds all over the place, with absolutely no 'safety net' to protect the little fillies and colts who enroll there. Granted the camp may try to run under the bird principle of trying to force out talent for flight by putting you in a situation where you have to use it, but for really weak fliers like Fluttershy, whose wings lock up when she gets scared, that just doesn't apply.

She was knocked off her cloud, heading right for the surface hundreds of feet down. Not only did the camp leaders not try to save her, they don't even come to check on her later, giving her enough time to sing an adorable song and get her cutie mark. And if it hadn't been for a lucky batch of butterflies we wouldn't have Fluttershy as part of the mane cast.  No wonder she moved into a house on the surface with conditions like that.

Who knows how many near misses or actual deaths may have come up from the serious lack of safety features. I'm sure Fluttershy isn't the ONE, SINGLE pegasus who has flight anxiety.

Then again, it is called Junior Flight CAMP, meaning it may be less about teaching Pegasi to fly better, and more just like a summer camp for pegasi kids.

You think that's bad? The Galactic Empire doesn't even bother to put safety railings on its vessel. Falling to your death might be more preferable to falling into the vacuum of space.

But yes I am a bit shocked at the lack of safety in Cloudsdale. I mean for crying out loud, young pegasi don't instantly fly on their own. Case in point with Scootachicken Scootaloo. And where the hell were Fluttershy's parents anyways after that incident happened? Was she orphaned? Surely someone would have made more of a fuss if their daughter went missing and plummeted from the sky to a near certain death.

Also how the heck did Cloudsdale expect to host the Equestrian Games if its in the damn sky? Is there an all aerial portion or seasonal game like the winter olympics where only flight endowed competitors may compete? If not it would be a logistical nightmare just try to magically endow every non-flighted guest and competitor with the ability to walk on clouds AND keep them safe from falling to their deaths from the clouds high above.

This is coming from the same place that has a beyond Celestia's hope clumsy and dangerous grey mare, a reckless daredevil that the "professional" Wonderbolts that endangered her own comrades and visitors and was nearly promoted, an inept Wonderbolts military that was useless or absent on more than 1 occasion, and for some reason allowed a unicorn that clearly wasn't a pegasi to compete in a dangerous competition and failed miserably to rescue her.

Sorry but Cloudsdale thoroughly deserved to be rejected as a candidate of the Equestrian Games

Given the general incompetence and lack of professionalism that a lot of Equestrians seem to have, I really can't blame Mrs. Harshwhinny for putting up with all that on a professional basis. That's a resounding neigh for Cloudsdale.

Well, that's just one of the many ridiculous rules of cartoons. Besides, as Jadefire said, she'd just get a little dizzy or get a bump or something... That's what to expect in a 5 year old girls show. :P
