It was an ordinary day at the Crossover Café. It was six o'clock in the morning. Any bartenders of the place were either there or on their way. Professor Hershel Layton unlocked the front door. Before returning to behind the barstool, and wiping down a glass or two while waiting for customers.

 

He gently smiled, wondering who would come in today.

From the ceiling, a head pokes through and looks at the bartender, "Excuse me sir, by any chance, is this the Crossover Cafe?" the head questioned. "I have been to five different places and I seem to be lost. I hear that the place is where a lot of different characters come to relax, and being alive for centuries, i feel it is time for me to have some rest and relaxation."

Mario was just finishing wiping off the counters for the first shift, when he noticed something pop out of the celing. At first he was slightly startled, but then smiled at their first customer of the day. "Why-a of course, this is the Crossover Cafe! Please, make-a yourself comfortable, or I can get you something if you're-a hungry. It is early."

The disfigured head smiled, "It is about time I found this place. You have no idea how bad my luck is. Now just give me a moment to get down and enter this establishment properly." On the roof, the body of the head pushed against the roofs floor, but the head did not come out. "It appears that I am stuck. One moment." a muffled bang was heard and the head fell to the floor. "Now we play the waiting game." it said with a chuckle.

Professor Layton seemed slightly disoriented at the scene, but it didn't take Hershel long to return to smiling. Working here, he had seen some interesting characters.

 

"I suppose it would be best to wait for the rest of you to follow, good sir. Is there any way I may be of assistance?", asked Layton pleasantly.

The head smiled, "I am so very sorry my good man. I forgot to introduce myself. I am Alucard, and yes there is something you can do. If you would ever be so kind as to put me on the counter and get me a martini. Never had one and I hear they are pretty good." Alucard said with a smile.

He chuckled as well. He was used to seeing many weird antics from his customers, about half of their customers probably didn't even use the front door at times. After his head plopped to the ground, they both waited for his body to return.

 

"So.." Mario began. "What do you come-a from, video game, movie, show?" Mario was always interested to see new people from different places, specifically different medias than his own.

Layton hesitayed, but complied, his gentlemanly nature getting the better of him as he said "Very well then, sir.", as he moved the head as requested. "However, I cannot serve you until your body has returned."

 

"In the meantime, would you perhaps be interested in a puzzle?"

"I guess i have the time to pl-oof!" Alucard was interrupted. "I am deeply sorry for that. It seems my body fell off the roof." he said nonchalantly. "As i was saying, I will partake in your puzzle till my body gets here." Outside the cafe, Alucards body got off the ground, dusted itself off and followed the feeling of where the head will be.

Nero had been sitting near the cafe for a little over 2 minutes and he was already hearing talking coming from inside of the place.  "Yeah, it's open," he said; as he stood up his long, black-purple and red coat flailed in the wind and after he holstered his gun, he then finally he entered through the front door...by kicking it open.  If the 'Order of the Sword' saw that, he would be scolded on the spot, but right now Nero was not in the best of moods, not compared to the laid-back Dante, so thats why he decided to come here; to the Crossover Cafe.  He strode inside, and noticed a head on the floor, a man in a brown trench coat picking it up and placing it on the table, and an Italian plumber.  He went over and sat of a stool that was placed on the other side of the establishment and just sat there, hands clasped and against his head; almost as if he was thinking about something.

 

(For those of you who have played DMC 4, I am truly sorry if I butcher Nero's character.)

The Headless Man

Picarats

10/10.

 

"A headless man had a letter to write;

It was read by a man who lost his sight.

The foolish repeated it word for word.

And deaf was he who listened and heard.

 

What is the letter?"

 

Layton smiled and waited intently. The suspense of watching others solve his puzzles was always a joy.

 

He tipped his hat pleasantly toward Nero, but did not greet him directly yet. It would be rude to break concentration while one was solving a puzzle.

 

((Rules of solving a puzzle by Layton:

- Your character may request four hints. Total.

- They may guess as many times as they desire, but for two failed guesses, you will lose picarats.

- If you completely give up, PM me requesting the answer. I will give you the answer, but you forfeit all picarats.

- No worries, picarats are useless anyways.))

"Why do I get the feeling the headless person is me. Oh well, let's see....How can something with no head be able to write if there is no brain to form coherent words on a sheet of paper. Joking aside, the answer is zero. The headless cannot write a letter, the blind man has nothing to read, the person who was dumb could repeat nothing, and the deaf had nothing to hear." Alucard said with a yawn. "I'm centuries old, I have heard them all." Just then his body walks in, goes over to his head and places it back to where it belongs.

Layton crossed his arms and thought. He then spoke. "You are not entirely correct, actually. The answer had to be a letter; the answer was the letter 'O'. However, you seem to still understand the solution, so I suppose the 10 picarats are yours."

 

Giving a smile, and grabbing the rim of his hat, he said, "Now then, with your body intact, how about I get you that martini?"

 

He turned around and pulled out a bottle of the beverage. He pulled out a bottle opener and popped the bottle open. Pulling out a wine glass, Layton expertly served him a glass. "Enjoy."

 

"... Oh, and pardon me for not mentioning this sooner, but I believe Mario asked you a question a few posts back."

Danny phased through the front door of the cafe in his ghost form, looking exhausted. After spending three hours kicking some ghost butt, he had decided to take a well earned break, and he had heard about how good this place was.

"Could I have a cola, please?" he asked as he walked up to the counter.

The café was starting to get slightly busier, a couple more customers walking in. One of the two who had walked in seemed to be exausted, and served him his cola upon request. He could get back to Alucard in a sec.

 

"Okie-Dokie, one cola, ice cold! Bet you could-a use a drink, you look pretty tired."

Natalie was tired of ressurecting her party members. They always seemed to get into battles that kill them.

"Whelp. I will atleast attempt to relax here."

She said, then went to the bar.

She smilled.

"Oh geez, tell me about it. I've had to fight ghosts today, while getting my butt kicked by a ghost hunter called Valerie," He complained and took a sip of his cola, "I think I recognise you... You're Mario, aren't you? Your games are awesome! So you rescue princesses, unclog drains AND bartend?"

Natalie said, turning to Danny Phantom.

"I particularily liked season 2. It was awesome." She said, and smiled.

"Any whoo.. So, I know where you are from. I betcha dont know what game im from!" She challenged danny to guess.

"If you manage to do this, i will give you some of my gold."

The 10th Doctor fresh from the trip and saving the word for the flying Titianic, walked into the cafe and sat down at the bar. His har was stickying stright up

"Menu please", he asked the bartender.

He looked around the cafe and saw some fimiliar people,he couldn't put his fringer on

"Eh, plumbing was more of a hobby, but yes, I do bartend as well." Mario could have mentioned the fact he was also a go-kart racer, doctor, pro-athlete, party master, etc, but he wasn't much of a bragger. "Let me guess, you're-"

 

He was quickly interrupted by Natile. "I was a-bout to say, Danny Phatom! I've had my fair share of ghosts, but I've heard you're-a excelent with handiling them!"

The Doctor looked at Danny and went to him and scanned him with sonic screwdriver. He then looked at it

"Now that is not possible", he said and then looking at Danny,"How can you belive and dead at the same time?"

(I will bring in Sam and Dean from Supernatural into this RP once it reaches its third page.)

"Oh my goodness!" She said, getting flustered.

"A-Are you the doctor?" Natalie smiled. And she knew that he was the tenth. 

"Your so awesome!!! Your my favorite reincarnation!!" She said, then quickly said "Dont worry, You'l find out when you get to that point in time."

Alucard sipped on his Martini, enjoying the banter from the other customers. Remembering that the one called Mario, has asked him a question and he just blew him off. "I apologize young Mario, to answer your question, I am from an anime series called Hellsing. Its widely popular and i'm surprised no one recognizes me." he finished his drink in one go. "Not bad."

"It's-a ok, and I apologize for not recognizing you sooner, my bad." He said to Alucard. There we're many faces that came around the cafe, of course he had heard of several newcomers before they showed up, but there were so many shows, games, all that, there was only so many thousand faces he could recognize on the spot. Of course, most of the characters were so unique in appearance, it was way too easy to remember.

"Thanks. You're Natalie, a mage from Epic Battle Fantasy, right? My friend Tucker loves that game!" Danny guessed, before turning to Mario.

"I'd guess you have, Mario, but at least you don't have to fight them constantly." He groaned and finished his cola. He then held his hands up defensively when the Doctor scanned him with his Sonic Screwdriver.

"Long story. My parents built a ghost portal, I went in it, there was a big flash and now I can change into a ghost and back, which would be awesome but I have to fight ghost which come through said portal." He rested his head in his hands and pushed his empty cup towards Mario. "Could I have some more cola please?"
