Another Perspective on Sunset Shimmer

Now I had to eye ball this a couple times to see what was going on.  Sunset visiting the 5 head stones with 5 cutie marks we didn't know.

The idea she had saved Equistria and lost all her friends doing it.

I know it would never fly, but i always like to see even the suckiest of character have the chance to be epic.
the artist talks about making sun set something other than a brat.   I liked it.

Yeah, that's something I would be interested in seeing expanded upon.

 

I liked Sunset Shimmer, but one of the things I thought she needed the most was more character depth.

 

Plus, this would actually make her sympathetic and seem less one-dimensional.

Some things that could work from here.

1. Sunset Shimmer becomes much more sympathetic and thorough as a character. In both the short comic preview and EQG, Shimmer is written as an one-dimensional alpha bitch with literally no brains nor common sense. This creates more sympathy for her.
2. It provides a backstory behind the Alicorn Amulet, like where it came from, and did it have any role before. Magic Duel brought the Amulet in suddenly.

But two major problems lie ahead.

1. It doesn't connect well with the official EQG movie. What would make her behave like a snooty, controlling bully to Twilight and the rest of the school? Her fanonical backstory here and canonical portrayal don't organically blend. They're both on extreme ends of the spectrum.
2. Celestia is very out of character. The comic portrays her as a sympathetic tyrant, something that doesn't fit her at all. Having her portrayed as a tyrant in humor and/or out-of-canon AU is one thing, but this user is trying to give the comic a more "canonical" atmosphere. It's out of place and doesn't make sense.

How out of character celestial is, is relative to how much celestail manipulates twilight.

That's a series question.

 

I mean sure celestails trolling or trials come off as mischievous at worse, why?

 

Cause twilight rises to the occasion (99percent of the time).

 

what if she didn't?  Well there's 1000 years of failed apprentices to explain that ^^.

1000 years of ponies who didn't have twilight sparkles drive, her madness, her need to pass.

 

What if sun set shimmer is the tip of the ice berg?

What would you say about your precious princess Celestial than?

Dream on, Sunset Shimmer is a female Flash Sentry, except there's no reason to hate her because she doesn't do anything that could have a long term impact.

 

We'll always wish that movie could of been something, because it had a chance. But it's a Disney reality show put into animation at the end of the day.

Actually if i may pick apart everything you said.

A disney reality would been a far more high average of a movie.  Even a straight to video disney movie.  (Bam).

And I don't have a problem with flash sentry.

As i've stated up and down trixie debue episode sucked,

so i give everyone one mulligan.

 

I mean dream on?  No... showing a video about sombre where he monologues all grim in dark is a dream.

Even though have done a pretty bad ass job with that.

 

Asking for Sunset shimmer and or flash to be even a little compelling is standard.

Not canon!  Sunset Shimmer left because she wanted power and lacked humility.
