applejock 358 November 27, 2013 Share November 27, 2013 ok ok ok...it is just one episode in, so no guns being fired yet in alarm. But a thought just hit me, has Princess Luna well..lost her way of speaking? She and Celestia had alot of screen time, for this former Mare of the Moon that is rare, up untill now. We are treated to younger versions at war with Discord, and even the transformation into Nightmare Moon in flash backs. Yet am i the only one who noticed the lack of "us" or "dost thou" in her speaking? This has to be a ret-con, considering just how THICK her speech was in previous seasons, not to mention neither her nor Celestia make use of the Royal Canterlot voice...during time periods when it was EXPECTED! So why the change? Writers get lazy, or screw up? Luna has fast become the fans most beloved Princess, and while I am not a drewling fan of hers (more of a Celestia guy) there has to be one of your Moon heads that noticed this, it just feels..wrong? Isnt the popularity of this character first driven from how ackward she is, how nerdy, how strange? Her fashion of speaking (not to mention childlike antics when learning about fun, ie the birth of Gamer Luna), are so bound to this character to see her speaking like any pony else is just flat odd. It would be like Rarity suddenly talking like Twilight or AJ speaking with an english accent. And to be honest she wasn't all that thee and thou when she spoke in Scootaloo's dream. We are supposed to be watching her and a younger Tia fighting Discord we are SUPPOSED to be seeing her a thousand years ago turn into NMM! THIS IS THE TIME PERIOD SHE WOULD SAY AND ACT LIKE SHE DID...sigh like she did in the other seasons where she is still getting used to being in Canterlot. Come on ponies! How are you not upset about this huge flaw in the very first episode? This is why I say that these flashbacks were unnecessary and even detrimental. They ruined Nightmare Moon's rebellion. But, outside of those flashbacks, in present time... Well, Luna is not an idiot. I expected her to lose her speaking mannerisms. Technically it has been at least a year since she became Luna again so that is a good amount of time. And for the flashbacks... Remember that Luna said they only used the "royal we" and the royal canterlot voice when addressing citizens. Luna was talking to her sister at that time ...this makes a lot of sense.
