Greetings Everypony (Friendship Magic NEEDED!)

Greetings Everypony,

 

I am in dire need of a little friendship magic!

 

My daughter Rosie is ten years old and a huge MLP fan. 

Her door is decorated with magazine cut outs, and drawings of the gang. She sleeps with Princess Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, and Rainbow Dash on her pillow, and Spike in her arms. She absolutely has to watch an episode of MLP:FIM every night before bed, and every bit of her pocket money either goes on MLP toys, or to save up for bits of material for her Rainbow Dash costume for BUCK UK MLP Convention next summer.

 

On Friday 6th December Rosie has a sleepover at school. She desperately wants to bring her Spike soft toy but tearfully admitted last night that she is being teased at school for liking My Little Pony by classmates who say it is "babyish". 

 

Could anyone please send a message of support for my little girl to see, so she feels less alone?

Okay, if a straight male college student like me can profess to be a fan of mlp without shame, there's no reason a young girl shouldn't be able to. People her age making fun of her for watching it are probably just trying to make themselves seem cool by acting more "mature". Besides, is it really worth hiding who you are and what you love just to avoid being teased by people?

 

At any rate, know that there's a whole community of us out here who are much older and still love this "babyish" show. I'm sure I'm not the only one of them happy to give my support.

I know it's hard... it really makes you upset, I'm sure. But here's what I think you should do. 

 

Take your favorite plushie with you to the sleepover, and if anyone makes fun of you, try to be nice to them! Show them what friendship is, and what it really means! If they still make fun of you, ignore them! I know it's very very hard to ignore, but try just staying close to a teacher and they will keep their distance!

Yep he's completely right. Mlp isn't babyisch at all. I know people who are more then 20 years old who watch the show. If you like it, just like it and don't listen to anybody who says you shouldn't. I hope you'll have much fun out there, just bring your plushie.

Hey Rosie! I'm really jealous of your RD and Pinkie Pie dolls in that picture (Not to mention that cool scarf!! )

 

My real name's Ashby, I'm 14, and I love MLP too! I have two plushies, a Fluttershy and Rarity, and a couple posters, one of Discord and one of Luna!

 

I've been teased for liking MLP as well, but I've figured out that if you just smile and let the criticism from your peers roll off, eventually they won't judge you anymore. In fact, I've convinced a few of those people to watch the show, and now they like it too!

 

I would bring that Spike plushie to the sleepover! Be proud of what you like! You may even be able to convince people to try the show, instead of being judgemental!

 

Whatever you do, remember to have fun and enjoy yourself!

im jelly to i only have a fluttershy doll which isnt the worst but still. i have a crap ton of MLP things but most of them just like paper..stickers....toys....ALSO im 23 and still in love with the show have been since i was a little girl.

Im an 18 year old Australian male in the Army.

And I LOVE My Little Pony, just as pretty much everyone on this site does. Others will tease me for being a male who likes a show originally created for young girls, and they will tease some girls for liking a show thats meant for even younger girls. People do this to make themselves feel more mature and look "cool" in front of others, or simply because they don't know our side of the story. Either way, no matter what people say, stick to what you love. You will find others who love the things that you do, such as myself and everyone on this site (16000 and something on this site alone).

 

Don't be ashamed, and don't back down. You will always have supportive friends and family

And Im sure everyone on this site is rooting for Rosie

As Marcato said, take your plushie with you and cuddle it proudly. If others tease you, be kind and show them it doesnt effect you and they may back off. If that doesnt help, then of course you can always speak to a teacher
