Steel smirked and flew up to her "my my a bit of a temper " steel said as he flew just above her he wasn't trying to taunt her but that's probably what it sounded like "so splitstream how well could you do against Ms dash " steel asked while constantly assessing her reactions

Was he... was he deliberately trying to provoke her? The balls on that guy. While I await for our "team" to be reduced by one, two if I'm lucky, I walked up to the ticket boothe.

"Six tickets to trottingham, please."

Salesman:"Family or business?" He asked cheerfully.

I looked to Steel, Slipstream, and the other two.

"Business. Definetly business."

I took the tickets and walked back over to the group.

"I don't know..." said Slipstream in response to the pegasus who now was starting to slightly annoy her. "I've never met her, but once we are done with this mission of ours I will be sure to challenge her to a race. From what I've heard though, I think she has me on speed and acceleration but I could probably beet her at a maneuverability or endurance test. In my opinion we are almost evenly matched." as she finished a small smile came to her face the though of such a challenge made her excited to finish this quest if she couldn't restrain herself she might just challenge dash to a race on the way to the next city. Her daydreaming was pushed aside as Mr. Critical started handing out tickets to the train. Slipstream took hers politely and waited for the others to board the train.

Okay, the tickes are passed out to them all. And the train won't be departing for a good while. Guess that gives me ample aportunity to goof off for a bit. I looked around for a bit and saw a gift shop. I left the group for a bit to check out the selection they had. I looked for a while and saw something. It was an autograph photo of the actor who played Cone Mane, Pierce Brosmane I think it was. My bract lept a bit, which was a bit for me. But it sank when I saw the price. That's way more than I had. Oh well, it was probably a fake anyway. I made my way out and returned to the group.

Slipstream was starting to get impatient. She saw Mr. Critical leave the group and so she decided she would do the same. with the same speed and acceleration as when she first showed off her skills to the group she darted into the air sending a heavy breeze across the platform she had just left. Once out of sight she once again let herself feel the effects weightlessness, but this time she closed her eyes and listened. She focused and could hear the faint sound of the trains engine chugging along the track towards them. She darted downward and landed on her hooves in a cocky but not to show-off-y pose. She saw Mr. Critical return to the group and she told him the train would arrive soon.

I made my way back to the group. As I did the train came up a few minutes later. I made my way into the train showing my ticket. I was waved in and looked for an empty seat. I wonder if this thing has food. I saw the others make there way onto the train. Hopefully, this will be a relatively quiet trip. To Trottingham we go I guess.

Steel got on the train and in the seat behind Mr critical and pulled out a sack that had all the parts necessary to make a wrist mounted blade steel Set to work polishing and sharpening the blade once done he began putting it together being very careful to get everything right

"Wow" Mooneyes thought. "At this rate we won't become friends, even if Equestria's fate depends on it. Which it does actually."

He tried to strike up a conversation with Critical:

"Well, so how big do you think our chances are?" He asked, "shouldn't we be working together instead of a team of individuals." He pointed to Slipstream...

While steel put together the wrist mounted blade he overheard mooneyes and sighed -a team the only use of ponies iv seen is the other fighter and of the right occasion arises spiltstream-steel thought he wondered what Mr critical would say. He finished putting the blade together he put it on and tested its trigger mechanism the blade shot forward perfectly steel smiled because unless you looked really hard you couldn't see it

I looked over to mooneyes.

"If you asked me that question when we first began, I would have said no chance in tartarus. But, now things are looking up for us. Little by little. Speaking of which what is it that you can do."

The guy was curious.

"You don't seem like a fighter."

"Mooneyes' face turned sad: "Well that's the problem, we have 2 fighters a scout a shy pony and you, the analyzer. I can analyze situations too, I have too for my research. But I'm not nearly as good as you are." He sighed,

"I've never tried fighting but I guess I'm not really good at that either." then he thought: "I don't know though, I am kinda tall and I don't lack the muscle capacity. It's just that I don't like hurting others."

Turning back to Critical he said:

"I have no Idea what to do. I don't know why they chose me because I don't have anything to contribute to this quest. Maybe I'll find out, I just hope so."

Slipstream sat in the front of the train car listening to the conversations everypony was having. She could tell that Steel was assembling some king of mechanical device, and by the sound of it a complicated one. She listened intently to the conversation between Mooneyes and Mr. Critical, once Mooneyes had finished his last sentences Slipstream butted in "If you analyze for your research you must be the scientist. You could be the one to design any equipment we might need... that is, the equipment that Steel isn't carrying." She took the opportunity to look over at Steel and discovered that the device he had built was some kind of wrist mounted blade."or maybe that's his job too." she said slightly surprised by what she saw.

"I'm a fighter and a master of small blades so if you ever need a blade taken care of you can come to me " steel said as he made some minor changes to the blade allowing it to be triggered more easily "as long as I have the items necessary I can make 'most any blade"

"So you only work with blades then?" Slipstream replied "What if we need explosives or maybe even a vehicle..." she turned to look at Mooneyes "could you do any of that? If not maybe we have two masterminds, that could come in handy, less mistakes you can collaborate and make the best possible plans." Slipstream pointed this out very proudly she enjoyed telling ponies what they could and couldn't do, she also liked to think tactically throughout the journey so far she had been putting together the groups strengths and weaknesses. She didn't like being in a team but she might as well figure out the best ways they would work together.

"I guess Steel might better take care of the blades. I'm a scientist you see, not an inventor." Then he smiled

"But I could always try to make something. But I couldn't think of anything we'll need right now to be honest. Explosives do sound fascinating though"

Then he trotted away to another train car: "I'll go take a look at what I can make."

 

After a while a huge boom could be heard. Mooneyes rushed back in his mane blown back and looking a bit scorched.

"I think I'll take a break."

Steel smirked and pulled out three grenades "I hope we won't need more then this " steel said "I can build anything so long as I have the parts and a working understanding of what in trying to make won't be the best but it'll have to do " steel thought -if I knew more about chemistry I could make ieds - steel thought -I'll add that to the list -

Mooneyes trotted to Steel:

"Well, I've just made these. I think you're the best pony to use them.

Mooneyes floated three grenades over to Steel. They had a fire mark on them.

 

These are kinda different from your normal grenades. I've got a fire spell worked into them so they'll be quite effective against entrenched enemies." He said.

"Be careful though, if you throw this into a forest you might burn the whole thing down"

Steel smirked "that could come in handy take out a large group or simply block the path " steel said as he put them in a bag "with only two fighters we may need to retreat if who ever is responsible has a army of ponies or other creatures fighting for him or het"

AT CANTERLOT HQ

 

"All right everypony do we have any more leads yet." The lead stallion asked

 

"Yes sir this what we found out about the symbol." One of the others said

 

The leader looked it over and said "OK the team needs to know this for sure. Where's the mail mare we hired.

 

"Right here sir." Said the blond maned grey Pegasus

 

"Take this box to the team in Trottingham I think they will need to know this. And please don't try to destroy it on the way this time."

 

"Still sorry about that."

 

"I know you are it just you flew it over to the right place and somehow it got wet while you where above the clouds and then dropped it on at least 5 ponies."

 

"I just don't know what went wrong."

 

"Just go please and yes you will get your pay when you deliver it."

 

After that the grey Pegasus flew off.

 

"Sometimes I wonder why we hired her."

I looked to the others, they were discussing weaponry and tactics. I found out that mooneyes was a scientist of some kind. He gave Steel what looked like insindiary grenades. Okay, aparently the optimist knows a thing or two about high caliber explosives. I can't imagine what this kid did for a job. I went over to the team. And decided to check out what else he may have wipped up.

"I also made these a while ago. I decided to bring them with me" Mooneyes added, he showed everypony some weird looking sticks. This is for stunning. I've got this friend who learned me a couple of things about electricity. It's just enough to stun almost anything for at least an hour without harming them. It might be especially handy for those who are not really good at or can't use magic." If anypony wants to use one I'll leave them right here.

Electrified bily clubs. That... actually could be useful. If its anything I could use, its a weapon to stun with. That could go great with my fighting style.

"So, how exactly did you get or develo these. You don't exactly seem like the sciency type."

I took one of the weapons just in case.

"Well I really like both chemistry and physics. But physics the most." Mooneyes was really enthusiastic he could finally talk about something he liked. "I had a friend who's special talent is electricity shock me until I found the right wattage, it was for science!" And after that, he electrified these things here" Mooneyes showed some weird looking small metal containers. "It carries all the energy, I'm able to make more without him but I'll need special stuff I won't find easily." He turned even more enthusiastic:

"Did you know that there might be more applications for this, we could make small artificial suns but with only the light and not the heat. We could power big machines and........ Ow I guess I was rambling a bit."

 

Mooneyes smiled at everypony and went back to his research

Fascinating. Artificial suns. Let's hope Celestia doesn't get wind of this.

"So, we have electrical billy clubs, insindiary grenades, and... what ever the hell that stuff was. Our chances are growing with each hour."

I walk back to my seat and begin to ponder on what we will be on our journey. Hopefully one of the cities won't be baltimare. I can't go back there, man. I look back to the others.

"This is all nice and good but when are we supposed to be getting off this rolling death trap anyway." Slipstream said to the group as she looked cautiously out of the window "I don't like how vulnerable we are in this thing. If something is blocking the tracks we instantly become sitting ducks." she turned and looked out the opposite window with equal care "To the ponies powerful enough to foalnap the bearers we are the most dangerous ponies in Equestria, they are going to want to try and stop us as soon as they can. They cant risk us getting anywhere near the bearers."
