SCS 7,533 December 7, 2013 Share December 7, 2013 In addition to what the others have said, here is a FAQ article on this issue: http://mlpforums.com/page/faq/_/site-problems/what-do-the-badges-beneath-a-users-avatar-indicate-r6 The Royal Guard badge is for moderators, and the Alicorn badge is for administrators. All of the other badges are granted automatically based on post count. In addition, sometimes a special badge will be given to everyone temporarily for a site event.
