movies/tv opinion on victorias secret fashon show?

I think it can definitely hurt a lot of girls and women who see the "ideal image of femininity" and they supposedly aren't it. It's really sad to me that this "fashion show" only features women of the same body type. Not all people who are this size got this way unhealthily and they shouldn't feel like their weight is unattractive either. I just bleh. Body image is such a touchy subject. We're all beautiful! We just have to get ourselves to remember that more often.

Also Victoria's Secret is meh. Their stuff fits weird and every time I walk in there, all the workers glare at me and watch me like a hawk as if I'm going to steal something. Not exactly the kind of place I'd like to spend my money, but whatever.

Lookie Lookie Lemon Cookie....

Real!If these girls were the models I would grab my sister,sit her down and watch it like no tommorow.No undies included....

Im jealous of all of their calves (mine are skinny.) as for the other models, it'll be a cold day in hoof before i want to look like them.

I think what also bothers me about this whole deal, is along with some things that others have listed, is that it also often results in a great big anti-skinny discussion. Everyone berates them for how they look and how their appearance makes women feel bad about themselves, but what about the ladies who are naturally that size, height, and so forth to begin with? It doesn't really accomplish the goal of making folks feel better about themselves, if you're just making someone else take the fall for it by tossing "ANOREXIA!!!" around every time this image shows up. It just brings up the same problem again, only on the opposite end of the spectrum. I have to wonder if some folks even know what true anorexia looks like.

Point being, I don't think anyone should tell anyone how they "should" look. After all, beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors.

well, I dont know, i mean, im skinny, and these types of convos arent insulting to me or anything, in fact, it makes me feel like even if i am skinny, at least im not too skinny. :lol:  although, if someone like one of those models was reading this, i can see them being insulted.

it may just be me, but if feel as though all it does is make people feel worse about themselves than they already do... the image of the models tells girls and women what they " should " look like, emaciated, tan, and tall.. what they don't explain is that much of this is fake... the tans are fake, the models starve themselves to provide "the perfect woman" image...the airbrushed model look not only makes girls and woman strive for unnatural and unhealthy goals.. but kills their self esteem... am i the only one that thinks[ this?attachicon.gifbody-for-everybody-victorias-secret-angels-21307382-590-281.jpg

Pretty much this. I would not even begin to consider dating one of those self-absorbed skeletons.

One's character > their appearance

Thats the thing, the show doesn't include a wide range of body types, only the skinny ones. while ever they are doing that they are promoting the idea that skinny is the healthy ideal.

All I can say is: back in the 90s, Laetitia Casta was the hottest thing on two legs and she modeled for Victoria's Secret. If the fashion world knows what's good for them (and all of us), they'll encourage women to have her body type.

You don't say. I already said I didn't agree on how the show and such is done, nor do I approve of the message it puts across. I even said I wished they'd feature a more diverse lineup. That I agree with completely. I just simply don't like how ladies in general with that body type get so harshly insulted in discussions like these. As in, it's not really fair to be "Yay, body positive!" and then all "Oh except those digusting anorexic creatures.", if that makes any sense. ^^;

But yeah, as for the show itself, I can't stand it.
