Building Discord's character.

I am here to discuss some potential character building that could be applied to the newly reform draconequus. First however, let me start by saying that I in no way wish for Discord to become some kind of goody two shoes, I do like the way he acted in the season 4 opener and feel this is the best way to display a reformed chaos bringer. However, though I don't want Discord's character to devolve into the typical good guy and become more emotion than chaos I do want there to be more development between Discord's and Fluttershy's friendship and possibly the rest of the Mane 6 rather that It always resulting in Fluttershy being the only one to give him a chance. I have been thinking and I thought of a idea for a episode that could actually delve into Discord's and Fluttershy's relationship and could give more of a dynamic to Discord's character rather than him just being the annoyance of all the ponies. My idea has Discord attempt to pull a prank on Fluttershy that result in her getting hurt (not hurt physically but her feelings are hurt) that causes her to run off upset leaving her friends to scold Discord while at the same time he just brushes it off with the mindset that she will get over it. As the episode progresses on Discord learns that she isn't going to get over it so he attempts to bribe her with his magic which only starts to make thing worst. Then toward the end Discord starts to realise that what he did really did hurt her and that he possibly  lost  the only friend he ever had and this causes him to brake down and apologise to Fluttershy and even says he will leave if it will make things better for her only for Fluttershy to forgive him and reveal that all she wanted was for him to apologise and mean it. Now with there friendship rekindled Discord leaves learning a valuable lesson about friendship and that you can't always do something reckless and not expect consequences for your actions. And thus this now gives Discord a bit more development and actually shows that he does indeed care for Fluttershy, and potentially this character building could allow the rest of the Mane 6 to finally start to warm up to Discord and not just jump to the conclusion that anything bad that happens in Ponyville is a result of Discord like they did in the season 4 opener.

I don't actually think his character needs to be developed all that much. I would suspect people prefer him when he's sort of charmingly inhuman.

I think that maybe having some small character building is ok, but keeping Discord mostly as he was in the S4 premier is probably whats best for him, just because he kinda fits that way, hes more a neutral character, not necessarily bad, but not necessarily good, and it fits his personality quite well.

There could be a way to develop Discord's character but, I think he is fine just the way he is. His character doesn't really need any developing right now, he is still the Discord that we know and love. For now he is more of a neutral character, the Season 4 premiere was his personality as neutral. I think he is fine.

his story will expand and grow,

I'm pretty sure discord will develope further before the cmc ever get their cutie mark . like saying discord needs more, is like,

the richest kid at school fussing about his gourmet meal is sub par.  "the duck is dry today."

I think that the Worf Effect would be the best way to devolop Discord's character. Like that one time Batman went full beast on the Joker, Which allowed us to see The Jokers human side when he was all beaten up and something like that.

In my opinion Discord is too overpowered at this point, Heck if Q who Discord is based off was stripted out of his powers in one episode of Star Trek why can't the same Happen to Discord where some villain somehow disabled Discord's power forcing him to use his claws and hoofs to fight. It would be great to see a more human side of Discord

Discord is a very developed character, this is very true. But a aspect that we really don't see about Discord is the side that actually cares. You can still have Discord be crude in chaotic and have him have a sensitive side. The fact that Discord displays no signs that he truly cares brings in question as to what is really keeping him from reverting back to his chaotic ways now that the Elements of Harmony is gone. Showing that Fluttershy can manipulate him does little to quarrel this because Discord has been know to play along in order to lead events into his favour. So it isn't out of the question that Discord could be playing them as a fool and is simply waiting for the secret hidden in the box made by the Tree of Harmony is before reverting. Showing that he cares about Fluttershy's friendship will atleast give a decent reason as to why he holds back instead of the writers holding him back for the sake of it.
