@,

Shamrock gives a grateful smile. "Thanks, he was. And I'm sure your da is a great stallion too. But you don't have to sorry. My da had a long and happy life. He passed with a smile on his face. But I wear his old hat to keep a little part of him with me wherever I go." She points to it on the hat rack.

Glacier nodded. "It's good that you respect your father,"  Glacier replied. "I hate it when I see spoiled brats who insult their parents and treat them badly without having a true reason. Even then, they need to to respect their parents. And you are right, my father was a good stallion. He was one of the best I've known. He made it his job to make everypony feel wanted and... and he was the one of the only ones that understood me."

"I know what you mean. If I never met my da I would still be on the streets. Who knows what could have happen to me. He found me when I was a filly living in an old box next to a dumpster behind his gym. And he took me in. He was the first pony to ever show me kindness. And he gave me a great life." a tear comes to her eye, she sniffs and wipes it away. "I miss him." She says with a sad smile.

Glacier ducked her head further in respect. "You know, you and I are quite similar,"  Glacier said. "We're both determined, we're both respectful.. well maybe that's mostly you. We've both forged a life in duelling and we both have our fathers as the main pony in our lives and pasts."  Glacier sat silent for a moment and worked through another mouthful of colcannon. She swallowed and continued.

"Maybe I've been thinking about this the wrong way. I've been so hung up in the fact this place is pretty dreary to properly consider whether I can tolerate you. You've got some positives to you that I'm unlikely to find elsewhere. I think it's only fair that I give you a shot. As a pair."  Glacier looked towards Shamrock and smiled. It wasn't her sarcastic, toothy grin but a smile of kindness and fairness.

Shamrock gives a warming smile. "Thank you for giving me a chance. From they way you said that it sounds like you've met some ponies who were willing to betray you. And I could see that would make it hard for you to trust someone. Let alone make friends... or other."She puts a caring hoof on hers."You're giving me a chance, and that's all I ask. But know this," She gives her a deeply honest look. "I will never betray you."

As Shamrock place a hoof on Glacier's, Glacier instantly pulled hers away. She went to growl but only a deep sigh could come out. "You'll need to be careful with the whole physical contact thing,"  Glacier warned. "My time living wild has left me very over-alert and I... I don't particularly like being enclosed and in small spaces."

Shamrock nods in understanding. "Alright. We'll take things slow then. And if you don't like close spaces, after we're done eating we head out and take a walk. While we're at it we can get to know each other better. Maybe get some ice cream for dessert." She says with a eager smile.

Glacier nodded her head. "I like the sound of going for a walk,"   she replied. "It should be quite interesting as I've never had ice-cream before. Perhaps after we could find some fruit and sap so I can finish making the target board."  Glacier worked her way through another sandwich as she looked around the hotel room in boredom.

Shamrock's smile grows. "Great! And I don't see why we can't. It might be fun watching you work on your accuracy. And you've never had Ice-cream before? Really? Well we are definitely getting you some. The tricky part will be picking the right flavor you'll like. Chocolate's my favorite."

"Yes, I've never had iced cream before and I can see that that's going to be a problem,"  Glacier said. "I doubt there's going to be a venison flavour or anything like that and if all of the flavours are like chocolate, I don't think that I'll enjoy iced cream. I'm not overly keen on sweet foods but I'll give it a try."

"I really doubt they'll have venison flavor. But if you have a fruit you really like they might have it. They got strawberry, blueberry,  lemon and others like that."She fished the rest of her food and got up. "Want me to get your plate for you or are you the self reliant type?" She said jokingly.

"I think you could probably guess,"  Glacier said as she rose to her hooves. "In terms of fruits, I'm not too fussy. It'd be nice if they had some of the more... interesting fruits that I'm used to in the forest but, again, I highly doubt it. I'll probably have blueberry if they have it."  When Glacier had put her plate back in the kitchen, she walked towards the door out of the hotel room. Suddenly she stopped.

'Wait! I have found any soft ground to sleep on yet! I'll have to look once Shamrock has turned in for the night.'

Shamrock chuckles and cleans the dishes and but them up. Then she quickly got her hat and keys and head out with Glacier. She smooths her mane back out of her face and puts her hat on. "Blueberry is pretty good. You should try it with a waffle cone too. They make them fresh I bet. By the way, would you mind if I ask where you're staying?"

"I'll keep it in mind,"  Glacier. "But on your question about where I'm staying, I haven't picked a spot yet. I was thinking I'd go near the forest from earlier. Although there weren't many wild animals there, I did see a lot of berry bushes and it's likely there will be a pond or stream that I can drink from. Why were you asking?"

@,

"Well, I was hoping I can see you again. And I was thinking I could pick you up and we can spend the day together.  We could do whatever you want. And, if you want, you can stay in my room. I'll take the floor and you an have the bed. I don't mind. I'm sure you spend a lot of time in the woods. But I'll still be worried about you."

Glacier shook her head. "I'm afraid I won't be able to do that,"  Glacier replied. "I find it easier to get to sleep on grass and dirt than in a bed and the feeling of the night air running over me is really relaxing. And I'll be fine sleeping by the woods. I'm incredibly easy to wake so should anything try and hurt me, they'll find it won't be as easy as they thought."

"Well I got to admit, that dose sound pretty nice and relaxing. But I already payed for the room. Maybe I'll try that one day. And I know you can take care of yourself. But I'll still be a little worried." She noticed that it was starting to get a little crowded. "Would you mind if I walked a little close to you? Just a little?"

"I suppose you could walk a little closer,"  Glacier said. "And yes, I'd recommend you do give sleeping outside a chance. Everything is more fun in night time. All the bats and owl come out to play and ne'er-do-wells plot villainous schemes under the inky cloak of darkness. But that's enough of that. Can we leave quickly, please? It's starting to get a little too cramped for my liking."

She walks a little closer to her. "Sure lets try this way." She leads thew to a small park. "And I like owls. They're my favorite animal. Mostly the great horned owl. Bats kinda spook me a little. And I've always like the night better. I feel more awake at night. And I love just staring at the moon and stars."

Glacier managed to control her urge to growl and step away when Shamrock moved closer to her side. "My favourite animal would probably be the pipstrelle,"  Glacier announced. "It's a type of bat that has a really small and fuzzy brown bod but a big wingspan in relation. It's either that or the Changeling."

"Neat. I've met a changeling once. She showed up at my gym one day looking for some lessons. During the week of lessons I didn't know she was one. We became friends at that point and she showed me her true self. She said she felt bad for not telling me the truth. We're still friends. She runs a flower shop on the same street my gym is on."

"I've always respected Changelings,"  Glacier said. "Everypony seems to hate them just because of the whole Canterlot invasion thing which, if anything, was a perfect display of how not to do an invasion. But anyway, I reckon it'd be fun to learn how to do Changeling magic. I ought to pick up a book on it sometime."

"That would be cool. And I never hatted Changelings even after the Canterlot thing. I don't think they would have done it without a reason. You know I was there on that day. A good few of the buggers came after me too. But I showed then that was a bad idea real quick."She laughs.

"That's pretty impressive,"  Glacier replied. "Taking Changelings on at a melee combat is usually a bad idea. I suppose given that you're likely both accurate and powerful with your blows, it probably didn't take much effort to put them down."  Glacier stooped her head and frowned. "I wish I could duel with you but I'd probably end up seriously wounding you or hurting you."

"Maybe in a street fight. When I was teenager I use to fight in a underground cage matches. So I think you'll get your fare shear of injuries too. But we can still have duel. If you don't mind it being on my terms. In a ring with gloves. And if you don't know how to box I'll teach ya."
