Steel nodded and spread his wings so she could get slightly more comfortable on his back "it's fine Luna" steel said as he began to follow the path she told him to "do you think you'll get your sight back Luna" steel asked

Grell shrugged " you where trying to keep the group together because we are all needed and you did so not caring for your life" grell Sid

Melody and Willow sensed a big change in the atmosphere. They knew somepony powerful was approaching. "Mom!"《Mom!》"Mom's back!" Willow's wings lit up and it threw dancing lights all over the cave. She strained her eyes as she searched the receding darkness, for any sign of that familiar blue.

Luna knew Steel was trying to help her get comfortable but she just couldn't relax, "I don't know Steel, there is something cold and dark behind what has happened to my eyes but I hope my sight will return. I want to be able to see my daughters again."

 

Up ahead she sensed a sun shard a pony beside it that had to be Embers, and beyond that a swirling storm of magic that had to be her daughters, " Embers is that you? Is the group up ahead? What are you doing here by yourself? Are the girls okay?" She couldn't hold back her concern that whatever cold dark evil was sweeping across the land might have set its eyes on her daughters and her as targets.

"Mom?" The magic in the atmosphere was getting stronger. "Mom? Where are you? Are you okay?" A tiny little part of Willow hoped that Steel was not with Luna, but the rest of her was aghast that she could have even thought of something like that. "Mom? Mom? Helloooo?"

Steel kept walking following the path "well I don't know about cold but I know about dark things trying to harm you" steel said as he walked carrying Luna she was heavier then he thought she was he expected her to be really light due to starvation but she was about the perfect weight for a mare

Luna remarked to Steel, "I am the princess of the night. I can deal with dark things coming after me, as you saw I dealt with Runedawn. I'm more worried about my daughters. The ancients can have my sight if it will keep them safe." Her ears the. pricked up, maybe the blindness had made her hearing more sensitive or maybe it was how much she had wanted to hear her daughter, "Willow?! I'm down here honey! Hold on a moment I'll be right there, Steel is just helping me back over there. Are you and Melody okay?" She wanted to get off Steel's back and run to them but she knew that while she could feel their magic, it didn't mean she wouldn't trip on stones she could not see. So show waited patiently as Steel carried her forward.

Steel sighed "I know Luna all I was saying is if you need somepony to talk to about you can talk to me" steel said he picked up his pace he could tell Luna was ready to be with he daughters

Grell smiled " good that means every pony is okay" grell said after hearing Luna

That little tiny part of Willow was disappointed. "Mom!?"《Mom!?》"Mom!" They shrieked as they now heard hooves clattering on the rock, and the faint jingling of an assortment of knives and daggers that Steel had. 《Mom!》"Are you okay?"

Luna smiled at Steel's comment and kindness and she sent a thought into his mind, "thank you Steel I appreciate that more than you know. A part of me was afraid you'd no longer speak to me after my comments when you were fighting before." Out loud she responded to her fillies, "I'm okay, I'm okay, I promise. Just a bit beaten up from fighting that iron monster... And the cold he had created while I fought him has left me unable to see..." She didn't know how to tell her daughters she was now blind but figured she couldn't beat around the bush, her girls were to smart for that. She just hoped that when they looked into her eyes that they didn't see the monster that she had glimpsed.

Far away in the crystal empire North Wind looked through Princess Luna's frozen eyes, he looked at the young mare and filly that had the power of the sun. They were the ponies that were seeking a way to stop him, they wanted to make sure his princess never ruled, they wanted to kill him with the sun. He hated them and from that moment on he knew he would find a way to break them.

"Unable to see? Like... um blind?"《Blind? *whimper*》"It has to be temporary, right? If it is, its not that bad because you will not be going anywhere anyways."《So... will you get your vision back?》"Wait! Where were you? How did that thing make you blind? Are you hurt?"《Can we, um, help?》

"Yes, blind... I think it is temporary. It seems to have some magic behind it, he made the place where we were fighting colder than I have ever been before. I thought I might lose a wing or more but Runedawn was able to heal me and all the cold seem to pull back only into my eyes. And I'm okay with that because I still get to hold you both again!" She moved forward able to feel them with her magic and scooped them up.

 

But she felt something that literally and figuratively chilled her to her bone; the cold behind her eyes leaked down the back of her head and into her throat. Suddenly she was forced to speak and a voice that was cold and harsh and nothing like her own came from her mouth with wisps of snow on her breath, "what a touching family moment, I'd almost hate to ruin it... Almost." North Wind spoke to them through the princess.

Embers sat to the wall, being compleatly passove. His face was dall, he had nothing on it. His book fell to the ground, and he slumped over. He wanted to just get up, take his sword, and leave. But he knew he couldnt...He needed them just as much as they needed him, even if he could remember things that wanted to make him leave

"Then maybe we can find some way to get your vision back!"《Is that why your eyes are cloudy?》Willow kept ffrom looking up. She knew about the pain and fear in Luna's eyes. Even though she was good at keeping it in, a lot of the pain leaked out. Melody knew no better. She kept examining Luna's eyes with concern. 《Mom? How... did you do that?》

Steel nodded at Luna's thought to him "so you're the reason she's blind care to make yourself known or are you scared off us" steel said

Grell looked at Luna he could see the same souls footprint on Luna and thought about this then it spoke trough Luna

Luna's eyes became a bit less clouded and she could make out the blurred outline of Willow and Melody but the frozen feeling in her voice box intensified. She put up a hoof clenching the coldness in her throat obviously it was hurting her greatly, still she couldn't stop the sinister voice that came forth, "hello, little fillies... So you're the two little ones that now have Celestia's power of the sun. I am the servant of the new princess that will rule this world. Currently I'm using a little something that I had Runedawn leave behind in your princess to speak to you. I'm here to make you an offer, take the three sun shards you have and leave. Go south, make the three shards into a miniature sun to float above your own small country and stay there. You do that and I'll let you live in peace, if you don't I'll kill you all or make Runedawn do it." Luna felt like she was already choking, she was struggling to swallow as saliva froze to ice in her throat.

Grell looked at the soul inside Luna "and what makes you think that the new princess is worthy to rule the world" grell asked he seen Luna's hoof at her neck and cast a spell to warm that area up since he could see the souls true icy form he assumed it was freezing her

Embers could feel something coming, it was like pins and needles, but hot. Searing hot, His face still seemed pasove though. He could hear the other ponys talking, but making no logic ideas out of it. He crumpled into a little ball and started sobbing, knowing and hopeing none of the other ponys would come over

Runedawn was holding the sphere of iron, trying to break through it with his mind. It was agonizing to feel all the pain his family felt, and to hear all their screams in his head. He would surely go insane if he kept doing it, but he couldn't let go. He was crying now, and he wasn't even trying to hide it. North Wind had been playing with him. He had been playing with Ironhearted, with every damn living thing left on the surface and below it. He is a wicked soulless monster that has to be stopped, but he is too powerful. There was nothing they could do about him. He was alone against a force that could not be reckoned with.

 

"Runedawn, you are not alone. Go to the surface now, my mind will always be with you, but your friends themselves will be waiting for you there. They need you, but most of all, you need them. You cannot afford to give up Runedawn..." Austri told him. Runedawn looked at the iron sphere once more, and then let go. "Have you found a way?" Runedawn asked. Austri nodded. Runedawn blinked once, and suddendly he was under the night sky. The warmth of the core was with him again, but instead of great hope it now only gave him a hollow feeling. At least it would keep him protected from the cold.

 

Runedawn could see the others around Luna and felt North Wind's prescense. He had to do something to get him away from his friend, but he didn't know how. The only thing that North Wind had feared up until now were the shards of the sun, and those had been consumed when the core was ressurected. The core was now partly a sun...

 

Then suddendly, a symbol popped up in runedawns mind. A rune that he had never seen before. One that filled him with happiness, hope and heat. He thought about what it was, and Austri confirmed it in his mind. "The power of the sun is now with the Earthstrikers, and this is the rune to forge it's might." He said.

 

Runedawn knew what he could do. The fillies could control the power of the sun once the power of the sun was actually there, but runedawn could call upon it's power now. If he were to release the suns energy, Willow and Crystal would be able to use it, at least temporarily. He stepped towards the group, only to realise that he was the enemy a few moments ago. After that he realised how tired and depressed he actually was. After that he didn't realise anything, because he dropped unconscious right in front of everypony. All he could say before he slipped away again was: "Damn..."

(One of the Sun Shards is melded with the core. The other two are connected to it but one is still on the moon and Embers still has the other one. They all are connected though)

 

Luna still could not Speak but her vision was slowly becoming more and more clear, like the ice was moving completely from her eyes to her throat. North Wind's voice addressed Grell, "she is a princess that controls the cold and the cold is all this world has left."

 

Then the ground trembled lightly and Runedawn was stumbling towards them. At first North Wind was afraid, he had no idea how the stallion could have escaped his failsafe but when it became clear how weak Runedawn now was he let a chuckle out from Luna's mouth.

 

"What a loyal pet he is. Look at him still struggling to complete his duty." His voice is dark and directed at the fillies, "he is supposed to kill Luna, did you know?" He directs his voice to Steel, "did you really think he was healing the princess when you found him? No, he was letting me into her."

 

Luna wanted to scream, she wanted to deny everything that this foul spirit was saying but couldn't because it was using her mouth. The though infuriated her and made her feel unclean. But the realization came to her and she reached out to Steel's mind and spoke into it, 'don't listen to his lies Steel. You have to find a way to get him out of me.'

 

Still North Wind continued speaking to the fillies, "I'll even sweeten the deal for you. You go and make your little country of the sun and I'll leave you alone and I'll even kill Runedawn here so he stops hunting your mother." He seemed to sense Luna reaching out to Steel so he spoke to him next, "how about it? All of the threats to the princess would be eliminated. You'd be free, she wouldn't need any protection and neither would her daughters." He seemed to linger on the last word giving it a darker more threatening tone.

Embers clamped down on his lip, it was now seeping blood. He slowly got up, turned, and ran from the other ponys. He could feel something in him, a hate, something he had to bottle up and throw away. He got up to the top, grabbed his sword, and slammed it into a tree as hard as he could

Steel thought for a moment "if there was no threat to her then I would have no purpose to live for" steel said "and as for runedawn I'll deal with him myself"

Grell scoffed "the cold is is not all we have because no matter if you kill us there will always be ponies and griffins and zebras that want the warmth of the sun so you'll have to kill everything then you princess will have no subjects to adore her" grell said

"Stop! The only princess is Mom! You know that! Now go... live in a cave!" What she wanted to say was 'go die in a hole!' But she couldn't bring herself to do that. 《Stop! Nopony hurt Willow or Mom! Go and take you dumb cold with you! We don't want you! Nopony wants you! (Classic Fluttershy Rage Mode (CFRM) go die in a hole!》

Embers laughed inspite of him self, he had never felt so good. He ripped his sword out of the tree, "TIMMBER!" He laughed as it fell to the ground. It had felt good to stab his sword into it, and his eyes rolled back, he started dancing, swinging his sword, he slowly stoped, and turned around

North Wind fumed in mock indignation, "Here I am with an olive branch extended, offering peace and you spit it back in my face. Fine but I want you to remember..." he removed himself completely from her eyes and her vision was clear. North Wind spoke the next few words in Luna's voice, "... what happens next is your fault. "

 

The cold released her throat and moved downward Luna rushed forward holding daughters, so happy that right now she could see them both and speak to them, "you did the right thing, whatever that thing was it's evil. Don't either of you listen to a word it says. You both be good listen Steel and Runedawn, Runedawn is good inside and he's a key to saving everything just as much as the rest of you are. I love you both so so much." Her voice was becoming pained, "Willow you take care of Melody like Celestia took care of me. Be strong and bright your going to be great and everypony will cherish you both like I do. Melody you mind your sister and watch over her, let her know when she's making a mistake, watch your temper but never lose that fire I know you have, be brave and confident. I-" the rest was lost in a sudden cry of pain. She clutched at her chest as the cold had moved down her body and had now reached her heart which began to stutter and stop as it froze solid.
